▶️ Another confusing Russian word: CHANGE • CHANGE: МЕНЯТЬ vs ИЗМЕ...
▶️ One more confusing pair: СТАРЫЙ vs СТАРШИЙ • COMMON MISTAKE: СТАРШИ...
▶️ ALL Russian learners must know this difference! ВСТРЕЧАТЬСЯ vs ЗНАКОМИТЬСЯ • ВСТРЕЧАТЬСЯ или ЗНАКОМ...
👌 How to work with my video lessons? At first watch it and repeat all Russian sentences out loud and record yourself to check your pronunciation. After watching put down all sentences you can remember. Watch the video again in 5-6 hours and correct the mistakes in your sentences if you have any. Do the homework that I usually give at the end of each lesson. Watch the video again in 2 days and make your own examples with the patterns used.
If something is not 100% clear, don't hesitate to ask anything in the comments. Thank you for watching.

Thank you! I get it better each time I come back to study these motion verbs, but only if I forget the following....Use of 'imperfective' term in Russian teaching seems confusing in part because e.g. in learning Spanish 'imperfective' seems to be taught as meaning an incomplete action in past only, but never incomplete action in the present. For example 'voy al parque tres veces por semana' (habitual ongoing action) is termed as using present indicative, and 'iba al parque tres veces por semana' (past habitual action) is termed as using imperfect.... I'm guessing same with Portuguese... However, In Russian e.g., Ya Xozhu b park 3 raza b nedyeliou (habitual ongoing action) is termed as using imperfective even though it's in the present. Maybe I'm confused, or not confused and 'imperfect' is used differently when teaching different languages?

Great! It takes time to comprehend the concept ;)
Don't forget, imperfective in Russian is used in present, because "Я говорю" - means not only "I speak" but also "I am speaking".
And classical linguistic always calls it "perfective and imperfective aspects of verbs."

update: apparently, 'imperfect' is used differently when teaching different languages. I answered my own question by asking ChatGPT the following "is the linguistic term imperfective used differently when teaching different languages?"... scary, but that's another topic.

When I studied linguistics at university (of course, it was a long time ago and no gpt existed 😄), it was called "Russian imperfective and perfective aspects of verbs." That's what I teach students now;)

Russian sentences seem to be so long but they actually sound short 🤔😂

So if you want to say, 'I went to England for vacation', you could say 'я ездил в Англию в отпуск'? (because I came back)
