    I thought he said group conflict is necessary in order for society to function?

    • @SociologyforLifeMHasan
      @SociologyforLifeMHasan  2 роки тому

      He has not argued for functional dimensions of group conflict. Dahrendorf focused on conflict as a possibility in post industrial society not inevitable as Marxism stated. He further elaborated other factors of conflict, not just economy

    interesting and really a good job! Should we also not include Indian social reformers; to make it more relevant to the Indian audience. Daherdorf had no clue about India and its problem - and hence the relevance to this society is not understood. I am an Indian sociology student pursuing masters. So not at all able to relate., while I appreciate the work per se.

      Thank you for your view. We need to begin understanding society like industrial, capitalist or modern society with the light of European and Western scholars because they laid the conceptual and theoretical foundation of Sociology, what we today in India inherited. Of course, Indian Scholars like DP Mukherjee, M N Srinivas and others did extensive work and contributed the Sociological research in India but their theoretical orientation even began with Marx, Weber and others.
      Suppose, Frankfurt thinkers are unique in the world in developing interpretive Sociology, so if we try to do this genre of research, we have to take the reference of Frankfurt School.
      Dharendorf has made an overall generalization about the post industrial society of present time. Now it is our responsibility to examine the situation of industrial development and capitalism, class structure and relations and class struggle if exists, what situation exists ud no class struggle visible.

    • @SociologyforLifeMHasan
      @SociologyforLifeMHasan  4 роки тому

      Researchers in India may develop a distinct theoretical orientation regarding industrial changes and capitalistic development in the line of Dahrendorf's theory of post industrial society

    This note is in response to videos posted by Professors like Mr. M Hasan Laskar.
    I bet *Shri *Karl Marx in his rebirth now, will not join any of the communist parties of India - he would be confused with the lefts' partnership and other evil practices of hating one religion but cozying up to the other. Shri is an attribution from the India sub-continent and someone feels out of place while used in conjunction with Marx! Like the theories from the West and the rest when applied to the Indian culture.
    As a matter of fact, I find Shri Basavanna's sociological theories more applicable and relevant to India though it is 800 years or so old. The legendary and revolutionary social reformer Basavanna that Shri Rahul Gandhi tried to quote in his popular pre-election video.
    #OutdatedSociologicalTheories #Society #Sociological #IndiansocialReformers
    Here's one of my responses
    ***********************
    Let me start my reply, again with a feeling of thankfulness to your work - I like your investment of energy.
    In your response when you say that outsiders' laid the foundation of our conceptual and theoretical foundation of Sociology, that we today in India inherited; it's blatantly incorrect, not-working, it is the cause of our Society's today's state of sickness, or a simple lie. I would choose none of these options exclusively with confidence - because it's a combination of all the four.
    A country of circa 1,400 million people must not begin its appreciation [let alone educate the younger-lot] based on the social-calculations and preachings of sociological theories of societies that we had nothing to do with, like the regions these alien [a term used similar and in the context of what Americans today call visitors. immigrants as] sociologists, philosophers, and journalists lived in; i.e.
    Weber
    Spencer
    Marx
    Simmel
    Comte
    Sorokin
    Cooley
    Pareto or
    Durkheim
    These social-chemists came up with their ideal concoctions /formulae that would apply [may have only worked briefly] only in their local post-codes, or extended regions;
    The universities are spending truckloads of taxpayers' money to teach and maintain these outdated sociological theories for decades now, and India in her post-Independent freedom feel into the same trap when Indira-Communists partnered to impose an alien political ideology on her unsuspecting citizens.
    We are all aware that communism has died a natural death in its many countries of initial strength and origin like the USSR.
    There is an ongoing effort to coerce an expired logic into society's thinking patterns propounded centuries, decades ago in India mainly [since the 1970s] and also in other countries. Pumping taxpayers hard-earned ££$$ on printing university textbooks and funding [either hypocritical or well-funded] speakers who are not tuned to the new-age or are blatantly lying, while they are lecturing / or are on literary-fests' microphones, has brought no joy to our ailing societies.
    Such outdated sociological theory and universities teaching social marxism and now forking into cultural-marxism has made a profitable business out of communism, and Mr. Marx must be turning in his grave. The business of neo-communism businesses may come in many forms ##AntiChristian in the Uk or the #AntiHindu in India or the #ChryslamoCommy bonhomie across the world. These bonhomie fuels friendship where the rich and impoverished meet creating #AntiEstablishmentEntities; they go by multiple #HashTags that Max Weber had no clue of 🙂 # such as; and many more; societies are now hijacked, and we don't realize;
    #america #coronavirus #peacefulprotest #black #feminism #feminist #democracy #Shaheenbagh #nyc #explorepage #history #change #unity #blackouttuesday #demonstration #bhfyp #minneapolis #civilrights #blackexcellence #defundthepolice #support #standup #kerala #communismmemes #marx #Leftists #conservative #liberal #libertarian #feminism #historymemes #funny #ancom #anarchist #politicalmemes #viplavam #ussr #dank #dyfikerala #communistmemes #acab #comrades #marxist #pinarayivijayan #cpimkerala #karlmarx #leftistmemes #bhfyp #blacklivesmatter #anarchocommunism
    The overlay of the outdated [not outright. evil in itself] sociological framework onto 2020's well-connected-society is a counter-productive combo that confuses the ordinary 'taxpayer' in today's beautiful societies. I use the term taxpayer as no different from the other who intends to pay his taxes in this context.
    The common man is unable to comprehend and is constantly puzzled about the poor social calculations of such outdated logic constantly reproduced and continuously orchestrated by the many 'professors' and professional communists.
    The confused Indian society with a very unique set of social dynamics with circa 35,000 Hindu-sub-castes that are heavily institutionalized and promoted via attractive caste-systems overlaid with minorities and communists; and with a freedom that was misused for the most part of the post-1947 era needs a well-curated native medicine, not from the Spencerian, Weberian, and Simmerian - or even the Marxian stables.
    This is a case of using Russian flu medicines for an Indian headache - which is resulting in cancerous cross-pollinated ailments that produce s #Shaheenbaghs, #ProfessionalStonepelters #MinorityAppeasementPolitics #ProfessionalRanters [not just Guha, others too] #PoorTaxCollections [across the world certain communities hate to pay tax], #AlternativeGovernments, #AlternativeEconomics #Terrosrism #SocietalDiscord and other concerns.
    Today in 2020 our industrial challenges or not what Marx even his wildest of the dreams imagined or experienced, the capitalist concepts are radically different [for example - a country that has seen a soaring number of millionaires in the recent decades calls itself Communist, no brownie points for guessing which country] or when in the opinions Professor Mr. M Hasan Laskar talks of "modern society" - and are still referring to 1920s in entirely, almost. Why is the advancement of our society, in the last 100 years, being ignored?

      Thank you for your effort of initiating a discussion. You expressed really right points. My point is that Sociological School of thought has its origin in west origin. India definitely has a rich intellectual history that may be revisited by present scholar.
      I just try to say that Philosophical Sociology has its root in these scholars of west. I dont follow any of the scholar's political ideology particularly of Marx. But I like to get interested in Frankfurt School's critical understanding of history , which even disagreed with Marx.
      You are right, Indian communist part is not that Marx sets as ideological movement. Here, Horkheimer of Frankfurt School argues that present communist parties are merely political power struggle with the help of working class interests.

      @@SociologyforLifeMHasan We need to question the advent of these alien theories., I am not too excited about either the Frankfurt or the Marxian theories and how they contradict also. Both of them and a bunch of others are irrelevant to our Indian societies.
      happy to discuss 1-1

      Yes. Indianized social thought needs to be revived. It was initiated in contemporary India by Indological Perspective of G H Ghurye and many more Indologists.
      Thank you for your interesting points.

      ****where there are societies, there are societal laws, and in that, the Indus valley had achieved a high level of amity, societal/communal collaboration and civilization; and sociological theories that existed quite sufficed what was needed then; and beyond. We can see these in the Vedas and Upanishads, even with westerners translating.
      When Nalanda university's books burnt for 6 months - no thanks to Mughal rulers; - you can imagine what all India lost! So to say, that contemporary India initiated sociological laws - it's a gross error.
