$200 to $450 Bangkok Condo Tours Sukhumvit Udom Suk Top Value!

- It used to be that 'upper Sukhumvit' meant On Nut. With extended Skytrain routes, On Nut is now more like mid-Sukhumvit & Punnawithi / Udom Suk is more like upper Sukhumvit. Come along for a look at some top value condos in the area, also see what they cost to rent or buy, plus have a look around the neigbourhood. Condos toured in this vid: Whizdom 101/1, Ideo 103, Marisa 101.

Again crammed way too much info in and should have either cut half of it out or made the vid twice as long.... So please click 'pause' to view any details of interest and thanks for bearing with some much too fast transitions (I really will try to work on that;) Cheers, STL
No, its good. You actually made me homesick for Bangkok, i am stuck in the Phillipines.
No, long or short, I appreciate the new videos. I must have missed this when it first got released. Please keep this kind of vids coming.
Fantastic, just the right amount of video time 🍻🍻🏝
Your videos are like a fun easy to read book. It has that nice flow to it. It just draws me in from start to end. Thanks for the work. I can tell lots of time were spent editing.
I rented MY Condo when my wife and I visited Thailand in 2018. It's located right across from Tesco Lotus and 7-Eleven. All I can tell you is that it's very convenient to get around Bangkok from that location. BTS On Nut is there, and across Sukhumvit road is the Century Plaza, which you can walk cross using BTS station. One word of caution about Tesco's cashier is that when I paid with large bill like 1000 baht, I got short change, but recounted the change again right the way in front of them and let them know that it was incorrect change.
@Natural Environment Your condo sounds ideal! On Nut is still a great location, has all one needs within walking distance. Just wanted to have a look up the tracks a couple stops in this one as 101/Udom Suk area has a lot going on these days. Will look at Samrong & beyond too upcoming.
Regarding being short-changed, sorry to hear that. I've actually had the opposite here with 7-11 clerks chasing me up the street with my forgotten change or purchase, taxi driver returning my dropped wallet etc etc etc. But as you point out, for sure always mind your change wherever you are especially when handing over larger bills.
Yet again you come through with a video that I have been waiting on. Looking to hopefully buy when I retire and Bangkok seems really nice. Just hope there will still be condos available when I do come over there. Thanks again!
@Alex Kirton Thanks Alex and if I may, a wee bit of advice? First, wouldn't be too concerned about availability as Bangkok is awash in new condos. It would take several years just to fill current occupancy availability. Second, would highly recommend initially renting in the area which may interest to see if it suits your lifestyle. Preferably rent in your desired condo etc to see how juristic & maintenance get on, also attend a homeowners meeting or two, plus speak to Expat owners if possible to gauge their thoughts. Living in Thailand is wonderful but like anywhere and especially overseas, never commit to a purchase until you know the lay of land. Until then, best to explore, rent & enjoy! Good luck/Chok Dee :)
@@SideTripLife Thanks so much for that information. Will do.
Excellent video.
Please also inquire which ones can be rented from 1 to 4 weeks by tourists. This is important to most viewers like me.
@Eddie S Thanks Eddie. In upcoming part 2 I'll be showing several local hotels all under 1000 baht ea (some 500 or less!). Unfortunately most condos in Bangkok require min 6 or usually 12 month contracts. AirBnB you can find monthly stays, pricier but worth a look. Also 'serviced' apts like the budget 'Marisa' one in my vid usually allow shorter terms (1-3 months) but again have to negotiate and expect to pay a bit more. Last, thanks for being a long time subscriber :) Cheers!
Super helpful. There is a gym called Muscle Factory near On Nut BTS that I've been wanting to goto. This video really helps out with some places to stay near there!!! Looking forward to part 2!
Muscle factory is one of the better gyms I’ve been to..lots of great equipment..hammer strength, strong man equipment etc.
Side Trip..another vid that’s above and beyond..looking forward for part 2
@Ricardo Celli Thanks! Also for being a long-time supporter, much appreciated. Working simultaneously on a big project and part 2 in bits n pieces but shouldn't be too long (for both hopefully;) Cheers!
I spent the last two summers in Thailand (the summers of '18 and '19. Based myself in Cozy Beach in Pattaya) and I want to let you know that I think your channel is the best I have seen concerning all aspects of life in Thailand,. Since I got back, I try to keep up with what is going on by watching your channel as well as 2 or 3 others. When it comes to production values, editing, music inserts, maps and other valuable information, you are by far, the best of all of them. People ask me questions all the time about Thailand, What's it like? how much?, where to go?, what should I expect to pay?, where is this or that located?, etc.. You cover it all. Clearly and effectively. Last summer I took that exact same trip to Ao Nang as you did, including a visit to Riley Beach. Drove up to Bangkok from Pattaya and flew off to Krabi from there. My experience was pretty much mirrored by yours. We stayed at the wonderful Alisea boutique hotel not far from where you stayed (now the place is called, Colors). The information you provide and the maps and locations you show in your videos are so very valuable to myself and others who would like to check out other areas of Thailand. Thank you so much for the work you do and the way you present it. If anyone asks me any more questions, I will gladly direct them to your channel. Your videos will give them an excellent idea of what it is really like, where it is, how much to pay and all that other valuable information. I hope to get back sometime soon. In the meantime, Safe Travels. John. Phoenix Arizona (by way of New York).
baazooka86 Thank you sincerely for your kind comment. My style won't be everyone's cup 'o tea but glad you and a few others seem to like it. Great that you get out and explore other areas while spending longer stretches in Thailand. Many just stay put which is ok too but there's so many wonderful places to see. Like Ao Nang! You mentioned Alisa Hotel? I only noticed it on my final night and filmed just the outside. Wanted to tour it next day but had to catch a boat. Ah well, next time!
Btw, here's the vid of that final night if anyone would like to see:
ua-cam.com/video/ba8D8i1r0vw/v-deo.html
All the best to you in Phoenix and hope you may get back here & sooner than later. Take care. STL
@@SideTripLife Yes. I saw that you were out in front of the Alisea Hotel. Got my heart pumpin a bit. lol I was hoping you were going to go in. It was a great place. We had a loft suite with two big comfortable beds and an outside balcony that included tables, chairs sink and complete with a good size wood hot tub and a wonderful view. It was low season and the price was about $38 US back then last year. In Hawaii, I bet that room would go for at least $250.00 US or more a night. The place was immaculate and the staff was great. The other nice feature was that the hotel had it's very own private beach with all amenities (food, bathrooms, showers, hammocks, etc) on site for guests of the hotel to use as they please. The hotel van shuttles you there. The beach was very private, peaceful and secluded. Not sure if the new name change comes with different owners or managers and private beach, but I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your next video. In the meantime, safe travels.
I'm blaming you for me gaining 6 pounds watching your videos. Mouth watering dishes. On the other hand, I'm always tapping my foot watching your vids. Great music choices. Do you own or rent in Bangkok? How long have you been here? I arrived in Feb this year so my experience has not been normal but still really living the dream as us Farangs say. As usual. . .great upload. Cheers.
@Mike Albanese 555! Get ready to belly up to a LOT of great grub in part 2! I arrived in Thailand as a young guy 20 years ago, still here, still young at heart and still luvvin it! Rent/Buy, personally rent as it's just so inexpensive. You arrived in Feb? Lucky! Personally grateful to be here, especially at this time. Thailand and Thai people have been wonderful as always, despite many hardships. Hope you settle in fine. Cheers!
Very informative. Thx!
Your clip confirms my pick of OnNut area to settle.
These condos are good, decent for my 2 suitcases and my crashing. Minimalism it is.
Great video very informative .Love Bangkok my favorite city to explore. Would love to live there one day, until I can return I will have to get my fix through you're excellent blogs. Keep up the good work thanks again.
Good job ! It's great to see different option of condo in Bangkok 👍
I love your vids. Always informative and relevant. Thanks so much for the time and effort put into these!
Excellent presentation- Thanks for taking the time & sharing 🙏🙏🙏🇦🇺
It's amazing you mentioned the BTS ending at On Nut. Yes, end of the line at Lotus. Plus that huge open area across the street from Lotus which is 100% built up. I lived there on Soi 52 at the time. Fond memories! I've lived in 5 different areas of Thailand thru the years due to my businesses, however On Nut is my favourite! I'll be back or perhaps to the locations shown in this vdo. Thanks!
I just started watching your videos, you're doing an awesome job.
My work ralate travel Europe , S Amarica, USA , I never Travel to Asia but from UA-cam Vids seems Bangkok, rentals are much cheeper + better units than Phil. Great Vids!
I used to live on further op the road on On Nut. Always had to get bath bus and resist temptation to buy food as you had to walk through a market.
gillar verkligen dina videos!
Keep em coming!
As always a well constructed video and extremely informative. 👍😁❤️
Very nice, good information. Thanks for the vid.
Love the clips, I sit here salivating watching them. Any chance of adding some casual comments on access to places for the mobility challenged? I use a cane but wheelchair-users like to travel as well.
Great point. Most modern buildings in Bangkok are designed for all mobility access but thanks for the prompt, will keep this important aspect in mind next time.
The condo tours are very interesting. The length of video was fine for me. Sathorn/Silom are areas i could live in Bangkok and condo tours in those areas would be appreciated. The Sukhumvit area condos near the BTS transport system you have showed us look to be a good alternative. Near the Chatuchak Weekend Market may also be a good area for foreigners to live in Bangkok.

great video, so nice to see properties/cost from someone local in Thai 👍👍👍👍👍
Brilliant 👍 great video and informative
I seriously miss Thailand. Can’t wait to get back.
Thanks, any chance slightly bigger apartments with bigger living spaces next time, could be studios, to prevent feeling claustrophobic

👍 Good Job with musics 👍
I love your videos!!! ( but can't watch them through because of the shaking :) maybe a gimble would be nice :) but really great content, exactly what I'm looking for watching :)) Thanks!
Thanks and sorry bout that. I just use a hand-held phone to film. Recently upgraded from the Samsung S7 which this was filmed with, to a phone with built-in gimbal. However, still move much too fast (it's in my dna;) but I'll try to slow down. Cheers
Wow there are some really good prices for location. Didn't look like much street food around anyway thank you. Stay safe. From the US
@steve whittaker Thx Steve! Part 2 coming, street food, market food, top burgers, bbq, pubs, hotels under 1000 baht + more!
Love your videos. Can’t wait to get back to Thailand. Hopefully at the end of 2021. Subscribed 👍
Cheers Anthony!
Thank you, it gives us an idea of what the cost would be for a condo in Bangkok..........
3:28 Tenet is a very demanding film. You really have to be attentive to understand it, but once you understand that, the film is very good.
@Dennis Anonym Good on ya Dennis:) I'm usually the whodunnit whiz and love challenging flics but Tenet was just beyond. I did glean much of the jist but still had to google after and thankfully came across an excellent (& hilarious!) summary written by Nate Jones in a 'Vulture' article. So anyone needing missing blanks filled in (or just for a laff;) google: "A Beat-by-Beat Explanation of What Happens in Tenet"... (almost more entertaining than the script itself;)
Perfect spots beautiful place thailand keep safe brother
Great Vids bud. Loving the condo cost of living ones although all your vids are good. Can you maybe add the size of the condo's as well please?
@Sid L Thanks Sid :) Avg size around 30 Sqm or so which is typical of modern urban condos here. Thought of adding the size plus conversions and possibly SqM/SqF costs, next time perhaps!
If you want to skip ahead to the actual condo building tours, skip to 11:00 - You’re welcome.
@Mark Olwick Thanks! Lol! Yes, I tend to cram way too much stuff in my vids, in this case 10 mins of the hood(s) just in case any are interested. Did break it into 2 parts tho. Next vid upcoming, best eats, drinks & top value hotels under 1000 baht in the area. Meanwhile, thx for watching (even the last 10 mins;) Cheers!
Stayed in On Nut many a times. Bringing back memories. If I could find a remote online job, I'd stay for good next time. Curse you covid! 😭
Great video, thanks
@jcward34 Thanks JC, also for subbing :) Cheers
I wish you had a link to these places so we could book immediately
Hi, all these condos require 12 month contract (but can try AirBnb for shorter term)
Great stuff, thanks.
Hey. Great video. I really have an idea of the lifestyle one would have by living in Thailand. Question... Do you have any contacts for the 2 properties (IDEO MIX SUKHUMVIT 103 & WHIZDOM CONNECT 101)? I really want to visit in January and thought I would contact you for more details. Thanks In Advance.
Hey Lamar, I used propertyhub Bangkok site. Keep in mind these, like the ones in my vid are 12 month leases. If you're wanting shorter term then AirBnB is another option. HOWEVER, you'll usually pay 30%+ more (but probably still cheaper than a hotel for a month etc). However, do NOT make any longer term commitments initially. My advice for anyone thinking of making a move is to first visit a few times (and as many different potential areas as possible) to see if a move here really is for you and fits your lifestyle. Hope this helps! STL
@@SideTripLife Thank you sooooo much SideTripLife. I will take your advice and look at many areas. Not liking the 30%+ but the cost of living is so much better than the USA. Over 70% better. Take Care and thanks again.

@@SideTripLife Thanks I'm planning to move there from the states in a few months. The info is very helpful for my planning.
Hey great vid! Did you just go to the building and property management showed you the untis for rent? or did you have an agent show you? Thanks!
Both Whizdom & Ideo condos had agents in building but also look on FB, renthub site etc for best deals.
@@SideTripLife thanks so much! Hope to move by the end of 2021. I hope these prices will still be around then!
Шикарно..!)))
hi i,v been to the True digital park mall i like it,,,some nice condos around ,,not to bd prise wise, near the BTS a bonus 🙏👍😀
Can you do something similar in the Sathorn area if you find the time? Thanks mate
Sure. Planning to in future. Meanwhile, here's 4 condo reviews nearby Sathorn: ua-cam.com/video/fu2xLTogwXs/v-deo.html
woooow expensiv in bkk am rent out 80sq in pattaya near Beach for 13’000 THB and no noise
It would be very helpful if you showed less of the shopping and surrounding areas and more of the condos themselves and of the condo complexes. Also, you pan way to fast in the condos. Can't see nearly enough of the details.
Hi, good constructive points and guilty on both counts lol. Yes, I tend to pan and move too fast (it's in my DNA but will try to slow down;) Also agree, too much hood in the prelude. However, I reckoned some viewers may also want to see On Nut plus local malls etc. BTW, you may not want to view this followup vid... ua-cam.com/video/ho2RO31pM_4/v-deo.html
Or my latest Bangkok condo tour vid...

Always GOOD thanks
can you do a "short term" one month housing video near BTS lines in the future ??? Thanx Dave in Honolulu
2nd one. Very nice views !
I know people in the SF Bay Area who pay $300 a month just for a garage space.
@random1 A garage for only $300? In my home city of Vancouver that would be a bargain lol
Are the rent prices per week or month
Another great video btw
@Richard Harrison Per month. Can understand why some may think it may be per week though. Back home similar condos would go for $2000+ per month
Can we rent 6500 baht's condo for 1 or 2 months? Are these condo's short or long term? Thanks for your sharings alot
@Ismail Gursoy Hi, generally12 months but in the case of 'serviced apts' like the Marisa budget one, you can likely get a 3 month agreement (possibly monthly) but also likely have to pay a bit more. So best negotiate. Good luck/chok dee
VIDEO STARTS AT 10:42
Thx. Yes, condo tours start later but for those who wanting to see the local area can watch from beginning (or skip ahead). For more on the area including best eats, please see: ua-cam.com/video/ho2RO31pM_4/v-deo.html

Awesome. 👍
Lived here 11 years Onutt want to move. Landlord will not replace A/C..Oh Iam disabled.
at 17:27 there was sign hanging from building about 200 month rental. do you know the name of that condo? thanks in advance.
Hi, the apt/condo just opposite Marisa Residence (room shown in my vid for $200) is MyHome101 Residence, also 6500 THB /approx $210 month. Just searched and looks like they have a gym but not sure if they have a pool like Marisa.
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
Any chance you could show some places at a higher elevation where the weather would be cooler year round?
Most of the highlands in Thailand are located in the North and only some small villages or hamlets are at higher elevations (1200 m/4000 ft etc). BUT you can see a glamping example in next vid upcoming;)
@@SideTripLife Thank you!
What is the cost of electricity , internet , gas , water etc -per month
@Darren Ring Electric, Govt rate - roughly 3.5 baht per Kw = for avg 35 Sqm 1BR apt running newer model A/C all day when home approx 1500 baht/$50 ish (milage may vary;) Water fee nit noi, under 150 baht / $5 ish. No gas in modern Bkk condos.
While we're at it, let's also talk Cable TV/Internet. I used to use TRUE, all channels/top package + 100Mbps internet = 2000 + 700 baht or $85 ish. Switched to AIS 'play premium' similar TV package 299 + internet (chose 50 Mbps pkg, still fast & good) also 299 baht. So 600 baht all in TV + Internet = approx $20. Happy happy :)
How reliable is the internet for work from home? I work on the phone constantly in sales via VOIP. Are voice calls to and from the USA clear? Is there affordable 4G mobile service that you can use for back up if your internet is down? Thanks for the great video!

Is that &200-$400 per month or per week?
@SuperJojobaA Per month
If i come on vacation to bangkok, can I rent just for one month?
@Sky Dream Most condos in Bangkok require a 12 month lease. However, you can rent monthly via AirBnB or try negotiating a month stay with reg condo listings but expect to pay more.
Marisa 101 always keeps some rooms free you can rent per day/month, but off course a big price difference. I think they are on Agoda or Booking too...

Per month

How much is it to rent a house in BKK?
@ill-freaky-na-na 'In town' meaning Sukhumvit to Silom etc you're likely looking at an attached townhouse vs detached house and would be fortunate to get one under 50,000 baht (there are a few but very few, most 50K up). Detached homes within the city are 'through the roof'. Outer burbs, Prawet, Bang Kapi etc, you can still find older townhouses for 20K (or less, but fewer). As the BTS continues to expand (ie: new Green line BTS is set to open areas up past Don Muang in Dec) more outer areas are accessible. Also over the river Nonthaburi side and along the Airport Link train (Lat Krabang etc) you'll find cheaper townhouses.

"Sorry Thailand" because you can find western food in their food courts? It's called variety and if you ask me, is beautiful. Plus, a lot of the dishes in Thai cuisine aren't considered healthy in my book. They cook with a lot of sugar, peanut butter, full fat coconut milk, oils, and their breakfast includes fried chicken, yikes! I mean, don't get me wrong I love Thai food but let's not act like it's the healthiest.
