    Thanks for the update Karl. I couldn't help but notice the appalling surface of the road you were going along at the end of the piece!

      @johnmay2786 It was my pleasure, apart from that road! Maybe I could do a short video about the state of the roads up there. I will be going to Calvert at some point so it might be worth doing, even if only for the record.

    your planned overview of works will be very helpful _ the others you've done have been very informative _ look forward to that _ another excellent video

      @Michael-61-n3l Thanks for watching till the end - I notice that a lot of people don't, according to my stats. It will be a while before I get the planning video done as there are lots of documents to look at. I'll certainly learn a lot by doing it though.

    Thank you for the video of this section of HS2. Really interesting information. I could not believe the state of the road you were riding on

      @michaelsharp9040 Thanks, Michael. It's one of the worst in the area!

    I think you are very brave riding on that road ~ I wouldn’t take my at on it 😮😅

      @howardjones6752 I was careful in some parts. It was only hours after that freezing fog we had. Then there are the pot holes. Hopefully, this road will be resurfaced at some point. They did Carters Lane nearby recently and that is really nice to cycle on now.

    Good to see the old track route up to Verney Junction towards the end of the drone coverage.

      @bringingverneyjunctionback9642 I saw more of that when I went to Shipton Lee where the old bridge was removed. You can see the trackbed from the road. It's in a deep cutting.

    Really interesting video as always. A great combination of maps, drones, labels, narration and on the ground. I had no idea about the temporary quainton railhead. Your HS2 updates are always good to watch. Will your emtb battery and legs stretch to cover more of the Aylesbury link section!!!

      @Maxhead_room Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing - the more, the merrier! My bike will do around 70 miles so going up to Calvert is no problem. It was just the drone issues that prevented me from doing that. I hope to have it sorted out by next time.

    Take it easy along that road the bloody potholes are dangerous

    • @KarlVaughan

      @MrLOFTYBOBBY I'm always careful. Some of those roads are really bad.

    According to Geoff Marshall’s video from last week on EWR it seems the Aylesbury link has been scrapped for the time being.

      @KarlVaughan  14 днів тому +1

      @kieronjames1910 I watched that too and saw comments made by others saying that he was incorrect. As I understand it, HS2 needs to be finished first before the Aylesbury link can be considered.

      HS2 are providing the trace for the Aylesbury link alongside HS2. The track from Quainton to the waste facility will be laid although I'm not sure if by HS2 or Network Rail.

      @@KarlVaughan Hopefully some bright spark in Department for Transport will realise that it cheaper to do it now why you got HS2 construction crew down there than to do it later on.

    Yes that is a very damaged road you were riding on. Must have been painful. What is it An electric Mtb?

      @nickbryant8118 If you watch the recent videos in my Cycling playlist you will see what I'm currently riding.

    It's ironic that, had they not lifted the tracks and removed the link to east west rail, the equipment being transported to the Quainton railhead wouldn't have to travel quite as far, and could have gone there direct from Bristol via Oxford.

      Unfortunately the link between Quainton and EWR needs bridges and the like rebuilt to accommodate 4 tracks. That includes the "bat shed" that covers all 4 tracks.
      There is an already constructed connection from EWR to the HS2 Calvert Depot and a lot of materials will come in that way.

    An interesting sections n that seems much less advantage nced than others, and it's still difficult to make out where the.trackbed will gon much of it.

    • @KarlVaughan
      @KarlVaughan  14 днів тому

      @Jamie92208 It's certainly a challenge working out where things will be at the moment.
