The community needs to come together and rebuild this city. We(Hartford) have a water front that we can use to build wealth. We are control of our own destiny.
Very similar to New Jersey. Both states rank low in crime but The Cities are some of the worst in the country. Hartford, Bridgeport, Newark, Trenton, Camden, Paterson are all wayyy worse than any NYC or Boston
Grew up around Hartford. One of, if not the biggest, waste of potential in New England. Historic, small waterfront city halfway between NYC and Boston? Should be absolutely thriving. City used to have an NHL team! Guess what party’s been in change as long as I can remember? Hartford is a disgrace and it should not be
@hossbonaventure 100% agree. Insurance capital with lots of manufacturing (Sikorsky, Electric Boat, Trumpf etc.) could be a cool area for young, single people. Could build on Blue Back Square/West Hartford but nope, nothing cool or interesting. so boring and extremely expensive for no reason
What are Republicans gonna do any different? They both absolutely fucking suck at urban revitilization projects and that's been proven all across the country. In the deep south and southwest their cities are falling apart as well, no matter who their mayor or governor is. There needs to be a wholesale perspective change on how we approach revitilizing cities and the communities in them.
I noticed a pattern, when Dems are in control of a city for a long time, it becomes a shit hole. Hartford had a lot of history that got demolished for parking lots.
A popular rumor when I was growing up in Connecticut was that there was a big sign in the San Juan airport listing the average welfare benefits in the northeastern states for families of different sizes, so people could choose where to move.
Proud to grow up in places like this and make it out to have my own life with a variety of experiences i can call my own. work ethic, inner peace, trust, not stuff you learn here. had to get it the hard way
How would people compare Hartford, CT to Providence, RI? Hartford via 91/84/90 Mass Pike is the more direct route between NYC and Boston. I find the east side of Providence by Brown U to be really nice. Providence, I think, is smaller and does have its rougher areas, like Pawtucket (the bucket). I am surprised that there is no direct interstate highway link between Hartford and Providence. I think you have to wind through a series of back roads through Storrs to travel between the two.
Providence is the larger city but Hartford is the larger metro area. Hartford metro is wealthier too. But city for city, Providence seems much nicer-- east side is great, downtown is pretty nice, Federal Hill restaurants, the RSDY influence... Hartford has a nice West End but it's all the way over by the West Hartford town line, not adjacent to the city center, whereas Providence's east side begins at the edge of downtown with the daylighted Providence River as a huge amenity at the edge of Downtown-East Side. Hartford's Park River is still underground. Providence, Hartford and just about every other city have poor, run-down neighborhoods but they're predominant in Hartford. I-84 was planned to continue east from Hartford to Providence. The project was cancelled in the 1970's. The short segment already built, through Manchester, Ct, was renamed I-384. I-86-- the Hartford-Sturbridge interstate, already in service, was renamed I-84. Ten years later Connecticut did a major widening project on I-84, maybe using money it would have spent building the highway to Providence.
Bridgeport and new haven and Waterbury and new Britain no better off either Meriden is a sheer dump Stamford ct is very nice both Milford Ct and orange Ct and west haven And Stratford Ct very nice and safe cities to live in these days😊
Look worse than when I left. Damn. I loved growing up there. Its nothing for the kids now. They don't even have Channel 3 Country Camp no more. Boys and Girls Clubs still active?
Hartford the most dangerous city ina Northeast N if we goin talk statistics it a top10 most dangerous city Shit got almost 40 murders every year n 120k ppl live out here The murder rate higher than Chicago N Philly Hartford would got more murders den Chicago if It had Chicago population
@@shyboogieent.3603 so if some people are outside thats not really going to make a difference . Still looks like a boring place. I guess it had to be filmed at the perfect time of day on the right day of the week just to appear less lame lol

CT is literally one of the worst and most corrupt states
It’s really a shame that so much of the riverfront in Hartford is blocked off by the highways
Hartford was one of the worst cities affected by urban renewal projects.
Couldn't agree more!
@@mmrwyeah they really fucked up with the zoning and city planning by basically eating up significant waterfront properties with interstates.

Deep blue state. Only been one Republican mayor since 1947. That's wild.
Way back in the day Hartford had a NFL team and MLB team. Now Hartford have minor league teams
