Listening to Jack, I have to guard myself from following the urge to just quit and sell my guitars. It becomes painfully obvious I still have so much to learn. And not that many years left to learn it. Great teacher. Great talent. Thanks Jack.
To everyone watching (and learning) Jack's newest lesson here......unless you're a super advanced guitarist.......and then perhaps even if you are.......Jack's latest TrueFire course just finally released today entitled; Jack's Manual for Tasty Blues Rhythm is beyond phenomenal and a must-have course! There are no weak spots! Lots of pro concepts and ideas! I've finally forced myself to take a break just to catch my breath!! Must have course, ladies and gentlemen!! Absolutely beyond worth the price!! Jim C.
Such a great teacher and a mega talent. Love watching him play simple melodies. Looks easy but of course it is anything but. We all have to start somewhere tho in improving our playing. Thanks Jack.
If there are any guitarists struggling with this, do yourselves a favor and work really diligently on this for at least a week. Listen to it a few times to really see what Jack is saying. *This is pure gold.* And you'll know this once it's under your fingers. There are no secrets to playing guitar. Just diligence and a keen teacher. Jack is truly one of the best out there!! Thank you, kindly, Mr. Ruch!!
Light bulb moment!!! I have a chart I made with the different interval same root- but I didn't even think flip it the other way! And definitely didn't consider creating a melody with a couple of plain vanilla chords- and all the chords that could actually work together...
I think it is very rare that someone explains these concepts this way.At first i said to myself ok it is a lesson on intervals, but then gradualy you took us to the link between harmony and melody.I really like your approach and thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks. You formalised some thoughts I've been having about chord structures but hadn't locked together. Music constantly pushes you further, you think you've reached somewhere then another door opens and you're off on another journey.
Whew! Lots to digest. Thank you for a lesson that is much deeper than one might expect from a UA-cam video. If you haven’t already purchased all of Jack’s lessons, do yourself a favor and get to it. You won’t regret it. 😊
Hi Jack, this way of building progression using tonic through all 7 notes is amazing , because you end up finding more chords that you never thought of. So If it's possible to do the same thing using third or Fifth , could you please do a lesson as well for us? Thank you so much.
I am not around people that know these things. I appreciate you putting this out there, Jack. Certainly don’t understand all of it but I’m so happy to have these videos to tell me as many times as I need to hear it. Keep playing. Love your instruction.
Great video! Very cool exercise, I really resonated with what you said at the end "wish I had learned this stuff when I was starting out". I've been playing guitar for about 15 years and am only recently committing myself to get better acquainted with music theory. You're vids are a great aid thanks!
That is perhaps the most concise way that I have seen intervals explained, in a way that goes into depth, anyway. Also, thanks for the homework lol. I look forward to building some chords as you suggested. Cheers!
An important lesson for every student ( which you'll remain your whole lifetime). I've made a whole study on chord inversions and connecting them in progressions, maybe a topic to discuss once in your future lessons Jack, just an idea. Your quality lessons are among the best on youtube.
GREAT lesson! It summarizes years of study in just 22 minutes! This is the foundation to learn how to improvise, reharmonize, arrange, compose and express feelings through music! I'm limiting myself for now to just diatonic triads and seventh chords possibilities. But this lesson is going to be my next step! Thanks!
As happens a lot, this lesson really has me looking forward to practice tonight, and even thinking how I can apply it to a song I'm working on lately in a key I don't usually play in much. Thanks for the inspiration.
Decades of experience parcelled into a neat little video. I just love your teaching and playing style, it's really relaxing! Top quality thoughtful lesson. Awesome!
Just stumbled onto your channel. I want to thank you for putting your incredibly well thought out lessons for us aspiring guitarists! Subscribed and liked!
A real eye opener for me Jack. I usually take the chords, and create the melody to fit them. Creating chords to fit the melody is fantastic. A lot of work for this old blues player 😂 Thanks
This was great Jack! I'm so glad I stumbled on this, I've been really trying to take a deeper dive into music theory after many years of just hacking around. This is like the right video at the right time in my musical quest. During the segment in the beginning when you were walking up from the perfect 5th I was thinking, "That's Kashmir! That's also Steal Away by Robbie Dupree." A lot to digest here . This is one video lesson I think I'll find myself returning to again and again as I move forward in my development. You just picked up another subscriber and a share.
Beautiful playing . Strongly connected with underlying harmony . I just purchased the triad course and use it for my own students - it's great . I got a little request Jack : could you do a small lesson on your picking ? Are there certain things you worked on ? What's your take on this subject ?
I used to joke and tell people that when we die and we're sitting in the reception waiting to get our passports stamped for paradise, Pat Metheny's music is piped into room. If they've got Jack playing in the background, I'm going to misplace my passport to spend more time in the waiting room! 🙂😇
I think the hard part is knowing all the chord options and then narrowing it down to one that that sounds good after the previous chord. Is that just hours of experimentation?
Hi Jack. Love your content, but please change your camera lens or adjust the iris. Your depth of field is very shallow. Your guitar is not in focus from one end to to other. hope this is not taken as a complaint. Cheers

Muchas Gracias.....this is exactly the kind of lesson that will open doors...I think it will take a lot of practice for integration

Right up my alley ….the last simple example I heard tennesse whiskey …. I ll look forward to playing with it 👍🏻

I will be honest a lot went beyond me but I really like what I hear, will definitely be with this one for a while. Thanks for sharing
Glad to hear it! It's definitely a lot of information
One of those light switching on lessons, for me in any case, seems so obvious now, great lesson, many thanks !
Thanks. You formalised some thoughts I've been having about chord structures but hadn't locked together. Music constantly pushes you further, you think you've reached somewhere then another door opens and you're off on another journey.
You truly are a master of this instrument!!

You make the construction of the 9th, 11th and 13th easy to understand, thanks Jack👍😅

After a decade or two of playing it all seems so simple! Oh the places I could have gone if I were never young and inexperienced. Good stuff Jack!!
The best lesson ever
Your teaching is so effective, Jack. Thank you!
Thanks for the every video lesson...thanks a ton!
Quite incredible! Honestly put me in such a good mood with this invaluable lesson. Thank you so much

PheNOMENAL lesson Jack! Keep pumping out the gold!
This is brilliant! This is like a million lessons in one. So much stuff here. It'll keep me busy for a long time. Thanks Jack! 🤘
To put it delicately, yer a fuckin genius. Many thanks for the glorious tutelage.
That is quite something when it comes together at the end Jack. So much in this to take in. Thanks. Wonderful..
this is gold! I've done that a lot with the upper note but never thought to move the bass around for some reason
So cool. In a city with literally a million monster guitar players, jack manages to stand out.
That is perhaps the most concise way that I have seen intervals explained, in a way that goes into depth, anyway. Also, thanks for the homework lol. I look forward to building some chords as you suggested. Cheers!

Jack Ruch is the real deal! High class lesson

Music theory geek warning!
Loved it, well explained.
Thank you so much
This is pure gold. Thanks so much for sharing Jack. All the best, Thor
Did I just hear Chris Stapletons version of Tennessee Whiskey? lol. Awesome video man.
Thanks for taking the time to present this. Great job, Jack👏😁
Brilliant explanation
Wonderful unlock of a lesson. Thanks Jack

Subscribed. Love your phrasing. Also the tones - could you shed some light on your favourite gear? Thanks
Finally! This was the missing puzzle piece.
I think the hard part is knowing all the chord options and then narrowing it down to one that that sounds good after the previous chord. Is that just hours of experimentation?
Jack, might you develop this into a TrueFire course?
i still feel like i havent understood this yet. like there is a missing link in my head
💢💯💯💯💯
Some are flat, others are perfect
Talking about women? 🍈 🍈

Wow. So much meat on that bone I’ll be eating for a decade.
Thanks!
Wonderful lesson thank you!
