- I am uploading matches inspired by Starrcade 1997, which originally took place on Dec. 28, 1997. The Starrcade arena in WCW/nWo Revenge was based on this event.
I'm playing as Sting on Expert difficulty. This was one of the most anticipated matches in the history of WCW. Sting, hanging out in the rafters and stalking the nWo and Hogan for a full year, finally gets his opportunity to take the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Hollywood Hogan. Did it live up to the hype?!?
Originally the match was over when Hogan pinned Sting clean in the middle of the ring after his trademark leg drop. Yup, read that line again. Before the timekeeper could ring the bell, Bret Hart stopped him and forced the match to continue, citing that Nick Patrick applied a fast count (he didn't). The match was restarted with Bret Hart suddenly the new referee, Sting putting Hogan in the Scorpion Deathlock, and Bret Hart declaring Sting the winner (ironic that Bret Hart plays the screw job referee role, considering he came to WCW following the infamous Montreal Screwjob). Sting would be stripped of the title the following week and would fight Hogan in a rematch at SuperBrawl VIII...

I like how the aki series based there games off the previous years like revenge stages are based off 1997 world tour and virtual pro wrestling 64 are based off 1996 virtual pro wrestling 2 is based off 1999 wrestlemania 2000 stages were based off 1998
Growing up I would have action figures of some wrestlers and I would have matches with them and a few years later I was able to do this on the N64 I love how they look the way they did.
