Jerry Lee, doing version of 1960's Sam & Dave " Hold On" He still retained, his Pentecostal influence of background, right thru all the ups & downs. A few years ago, he " made it right" with the Lord, prior to his promotion!
I remember this one, I think Jerry Lee was in the middle of a comeback and it had a couple of songs chart not long before this. I was barely a teenager and had never really seen him before, it was a lot of fun I can't wait to see it again
Tina Turner doing River Deep is a whole concert in one song. The Killer was everywhere during this time, Hee Haw, and any variety/ talk show he could get booked on, I never knew his earlier scandal, by this time all had been forgotten. BB will be his smooth self, and most of the rest of the artist will, I believe will fall into my favorite category, songs that were the soundtrack of a particular time, but no longer get played on the Oldies stations. Can't Hardly wait!
Amen ! We’ve been looking for any live performance or soundboard tapes of this great band Ballin’jack. I saw 20+ shows and the boys killed the headliners every time! Luther and the guys in the band were friends and great musicians Got sealed B’J cds and B’J live in Seattle cds merch
Me, too, I wrote to James Coile about a year before he died. Had some questions about the name of the band and Billy McPherson, the earlier member of the group. And he politely replied (denying, if I'm not mistaken, your words that they were named after a name of their friend, and saying Billy left before they moved to Los Angeles, and he replaced him there). Is the Seattle recording the one that ends with the song that wasn't released on any of their albums?
@@antontupchii6457I wrote to Jim Coile right before he was tragically killed in San Diego county, asking him what became of Jim Walters, the trumpet, vocalist who left after the debut album..Luther, Ronnie and the boys were friends of mine, and Jim Coile wrote me saying he lost track of Walters. Only Ronnie Hammon remains from the band
Another trip to a time that perhaps never was, but certainly will never be again. If the memories weren't so joyous, it would be sad, but instead it's like a trip to a wonderful yesterday. Thanks Midnight Special!
Dalton and Dubarri was an excellent surprise in this set. Great seeing Peter Banks (ex Yes) band Flash. Tina Turner is always powerful. Shame on the director for never showing keyboard players laying down the groove with a Clavinet or soloing on a synth.
That was Ike playing those parts, and the fact he's never once on camera can't be a coincidence. I wonder if maybe he did something to really piss off the producers of the show.
I LOVE Tina Turner!! 🥰 What a force she is, and the way she and the great backup dancers-singers “move!!!” Their energy is off the charts GREAT, gorgeous ladies!!! 💃 💃 💃
Hello MS and all my friends, I'm sorry I missed out on tonight's live chat but I was too over come with the passing of Wayne Kramer a personal friend of mine and who I recently spoke with. He told me he didn't feel great but wanted to release a new recording "reigniting the spirit of 1968 when we were young revolutionaries, I think we are at a very dangerous time in our history, and if we don't all organize, come together and step up, we could lose it all. Democracy could go away, the forces that we are up against are not joking, this is not playtime, this is serious". MC5 attitude until his end, a true stand up man and musician RIP. This follows the emotional passing of my friend and mentor Peter Brotzmann last year followed by the death of his lifelong manager Jost Gebers, which has been beyond too much too take. I will have my party hat on next week and see y'all then! Thanks for all the hello's and goodbyes in chat! 😉

Well, it was interesting and fun! Flash and Dalton and Dubarri were a pleasant surprise to me. Thank, Midnight Special! See all you party people next week!😄💜
It looks like the following episode from November 16, 1973 is something called "The 1980 Floor Show starring David Bowie", with Bowie obviously hosting. It also features appearances by Carmen, Marianne Faithfull, and The Troggs.
@ 9:40 is a cool visual of Flashs’ guitarist, new band for me, what’s his name? “Ballin’ Jack” is sure ballin’ here, 1st time I’ve seen-heard of them, jazzy good!! Lots of diversity in this show, cool to see.

She went to Memorial High School and after she graduated in 1958 taught at my high school MacArthur High School before becoming a songwriter.
