In my opinion it was the table and refs fault for not letting them know who had criteria, possibly could've changed the entire outcome of the match. Although I favor Valencia, Martinez did a real good job in defending against Valencia's doubles and that last 4 point throw Martinez hit was absolutely phenomenal. Both are monsters and hopefully we'll see them face off again soon
Valencia had one 4, and three 2s and Imar had one 4, two 2s, and two 1s. So it wasn't a bad call, so by FILA rules Valencia won because he had the higher quantity of "bigger" scores, although the refs should have clarified who was winning before starting the match with 16 seconds left.
They said Valencia had criteria because imar scored last
Valencia brothers and Aaron pico are the future of American wrestling in the world only ones who will be able to take out the iranians in 5-10 years. Used to wrestle with these 3 and they are the real deal motivated in practiced determined in matches.
why not just go an extra minute
that just pissed me off beyond belief. Now I may just be a Martínez fan, I strongly believe Martinez won this match he scored 4 points last and it doesn't even make any damn sence. the refs didn't even tell either wrestler who had to score
AV shut it down a bit at the end. But at the recent 2015 US Open, he stood out.
Valencia is so big compared to alot of 163 wrestlers I've seen
he had to cut from 170 to 163
MRxROID actually on average most college wrestlers cut 10-15 pounds so his walking weight a least is 175
I'm pretty sure criteria still works like last score is winning, but bigger throw beats last score. But if you have equal throws and still last score you win. It doesn't take into account the other smaller scores.
Cody Martinez lost because it is most 4's most 2's then most 1's. Valencia had more 2's than Martinez. Martinez had 2 1's
anyone know the name of the black gentleman at 749-752?
Amazing match. I wish I-Mar would've won, but he was only put in such a bad position because he gave up the points early on, great comeback though
This is why I really cant get into freestyle the rules are so complicated. (Prime Example)
holy shit he's only in high school?!!
yup and he's martinez's weight this year is college but folkstyle is completely different. 165 will be fun to watch with Martinez, Jordan, and Valencia. With Dieringer graduated, it's anyone's weight although Martinez finds a way to win come March.
Bottom line--great future prospects for Team USA, both.
So who won???!!!?!?!?!
The problem is that the criteria wasnt articulated to the wrestlers. That way the wrestlers knew what they needed to win. It was a guessing game.
I can't believe such a great match between my favorite California wrestlers is ruined by such a shitty call at the end
Martinez would beat him in folk style
nah just joseph
on a smaller scale my son lost in the semi finals of the Oklahoma state freestyle tournament this year because of criteria almost just like this. Criteria is b.s. Let's do overtime. Please. At least let the wrestlers know who's winning during last 30 seconds.
I’m suck a fucking idiot thought this was zahid the whole first period lol
That made no sense. Martinez clearly won.
Valencia clearly the better freestyle wrestler martinez threw himself to his back in the scramble. Imar stronger better defense.
Without a doubt Anthony Valencia won, good match though
Anthony went to my highschool last year
Something Forgettable bosco
freestyle is stupid his back wasn't even exposed to the mat and they still gave him 4? both great wrestlers but imo imar is better overall, but if valencia had more strength and control then I'd give it to him
Valencia studder steps all day! John Smith low single that shit!!
That wasn't clear
