The Oakley boots are known in the military to be mostly worn by desk jockies. The boots you usually see Infantry or Combat MOS service members wearing is either Belleville c320s or Garmonts (T8 Bifida or T8 NFS). I wore Garmonts on my last deployment and got a new set of Bellevilles after I got back from it
I’m Infantry and wear specifically the Nike SFB. They’re amazing for the all running and rucking that goes on in the Infantry world. Oakley, Nike, and Garmont are the top three for combat MOS.
@@dooginator2008tx I converted from the Garmonts T8 Bifidas to the Belleville c320s after my last combat deployment to Syria. I have wide feet, so the metal tabs on the Garmonts are what made them uncomfortable for me after a while. Comfort wise the Bellevilles are superior, in my opinion. But the Garmonts served me well for hundreds of miles of ruck marches, water crossings, and in the middle east. Hopefully the Bellevilles have that same level of ruggedness. From a fellow 11B
@thejakein7867 just because Belleville makes boots that are issued, doesn't mean their other models are lacking. The C320 fixed an issue I personally had with the constricted ankle box of the Garmont T8 Bifida. Put in lots of ruck marches, runs, and field problems, no complaints
I own a pair of Blundstone and I don't consider myself a fanboy. They are far from being my favorite boots I own. But they are actually boots I used for hiking and I went into pretty deep water with them. They never leaked and kept my feet dry. I don't understand your statement, as this is a cemented construction. It's obviously much better for water than any traditional Goodyear welt or stitch down construction.
Grant Stone Brass Boot is my #1. You should review the GS Ottawa next time. I have about 15 of the boots on your list and agree with your choices. Great video.!
The only boot from this list that I have is the Grant Stone Diesel which in April I'll have had for a year. It's the best shoe I've ever had tbh and has made me fall in love with Grant Stone. I'd love to try their other boots, especially the dark oak roughout chelsea you have. I was underwhelmed with the Thursday Vanguard I bought and ended up returning them cause they were too tight (I might need to go true to size with those). Would like to try their Captain eventually since it's their signature boot. Would also love to try the Iron Rangers since I wore them briefly in a Red Wing Store and REALLY liked how they fit. Also, what is your jacket?
I have Grant Stone Diesel in saddle tan (veg tan) headed my way. I am super excited about these. Honestly I am surprised they are your #1. My "grail" boot is the Nick's Americana. We shall see if I ever am able to throw that much money their way. I am in WA, so if I do I will be making the 5 hour drive to their shop to get measured for the perfect fit.
I just got a pair of captains and wow they were comfortable out of the box… absolutely love them. Just added a pair of IR today… excited to break them in
That's some collection you have there. Most of my boots are Thursday boots & I'm wearing the Titan a lot at the moment - great in this sort of weather. Just splashed out on a pair of Grant Stone Diesel in Loden suede & love it. By the way, where did you get your shirt from?
I've said it so much. But I'd say Nick's, White's, and Red Wings are my favorite boot brands. Red Wings for the money are a great brand. My Blacksmiths and my 1907s are still holding up great. My White's 350 cruisers are probably the best fitting and most comfortable boots I own. My White's Fultons are a great work moc toe boot. And my Nick's Robert boots are the most well built and refined work boot that I've ever owned. Plus the brown waxed flesh looks better every day I have it.
William, for how much you like the Diesel, Viberg, and Captain, it absolutely blows my mind you never picked up a Parkhurst Allen or Richmond. Like what? Seriously my guy.
Boy did I make a bunch of newbie mistakes. I didn't do research, just decided to buy Chelsea boots. Didn't measure my foot width and paid a bit beyond what I planned. Went to a shoe store near my job and walked out with a pair of Jack Erwin Chelsea's, using my basic shoe size. The insole is like a hardwood floor and even with thick wool socks my heels slip some with every step.
That’s a hell of a boot collection you got their William. I agree with you on those Grant Stones #1… I got a couple pair of them. They’re awesome…! OK buddy, have a merry Christmas. God bless, Greg.
You should compare the titan vs the captain stormkings. They look really similar apart from the captoe. Interested in if the lasts are the same or not etc
Nicks, I don’t think would do it, but the other PNW boot makers make multiple lasts with different toe shapes and arches, a Packer 2 toe is much slimmer and beautiful than the standard 3 toe of your Americanas, Nicks would only use it on a Packer boot, but Franks would do it in any of their boot styles, Whites has it on some models, and JK doesn’t have anything slimmer than the 3 toe. If I could post a pic for you to see if mine I would, I have a Nicks Packer in blue black with a 2 toe and a station zipper instead of laces.
What would you recommend for someone who’s looking for a semi dressy boot but has a wide foot? I wear Jim Greens normally and my Clarks chukkas really squeeze my foot
I have a question. I have 9 pairs of Goodyear welted leather boots and I don't know which socks I should use. One says synthetic because the sweat will transport to the outside in the shoe and others say cotton. I let all my shoes dry at least 24 hours but mostly 48 hours so I have a rotation. Which material of socks do you use?. Great videos by the way and greetings from Germany 👌
That par looks great. Kudu is a lot stronger and requires no maintenance beside some brushing. Post some photos if you can. Would love to see them in real life
I hate how all these boot channels shill inferior Thursdays constantly. It's so obvious they get paid to do it too. It's one thing to say it's your personal top 50, but to claim it's a list from worst to best as if there's objectivity going into the list, and to then put Thursdays at #3 is just laughable. You're talking about a boot that's made by slave labor in Mexico, has a fake cap toe, uses cheap, thin leather, and uses synthetic materials in the insoles...
Thursday Loggers low on the list. WOW. My Thursday Vanguard in Indigo Chromexcel is high on my list, the comfort level is on par with my Higgins Mill and Indy boots. Their is no loose grain at all, perfect clicking. Made in the USA go Murica.
My boots of choice for comfort are Clarks huston (not made anymore), Caterpillar Covert. They just go with everything. Easy to walk. My best construction boot is Grenson Brady. Kinda hicking style but more dressy than usual hicking boots. Just a pure beauty to my eyes. So well made.
My collection is no where near yours, but I'm right there with you on my Diesel boot(s) as number 1. I have the Crimson pair too and the Tan Essex. They're fantastic boots that just feel so much more substantial than my Captain's (Matte Black, Midnight Suede and Dark Olive with the Stormking outsole). I really enjoy my Red Wing 8111's too, even though the standard width last is a little on the narrow side. Love my 875's too.
What's this guys deal with Blundstone. He sounds like a certified hater. I think he's an ambassador for Thursday boots everytime I watch his review videos.
Those whites packer boots look very feminine, like a high heeled boot you'd expect a woman to wear in a western. It's even got a bit of frilly leather on the front!
@@baum7222 don’t be ignorant, sure, most people’s priorities top out at the level of Thursday boots, but real enthusiasts prefer better quality footwear you can buy and use for life. Thursday boots like most others kills your foot health with regular use.

You really put a Thursday boot over the Nick's and White's. Truman over Nick's, heaven's sake , who are you dude. You've lost a subscriber and a helluva lot of respect.
these are the boots I wear most often and enjoy the most. and I'm sure I'll have different opinions next year... or maybe even next week. I appreciate the time you've spent watching the channel and all the comments, especially on the early videos - those were definitely motivating when I was just in the early stages making vids. Great list Will! Grant Stone Brass is my #1. Bought three pairs. The Floyd last works for me. Impeccable quality.
The Wescos were my favorite of your boots. I hated the Viberg 310 last with the weird sprung toe but, I have to say, I think they are growing on me!
Brass boot beats every Thursday I own (even the Thursdays that didn't have major QC issues). I have the GS field boot too-same last. Beautiful.

I have quite a few boots and I agree that Grand Stone is a really good boot! I have the ones in kangaroo leather (light beige) and they rock!
Those Oakley tactical boots are worn by so many military members and I do admit they can get uncomfortable after long periods of standing.
Usually desk jockies wear the Oakleys

You should try the lakeshore boot from Oak Street, they are amazing
Lots of Chelseas, but none in the top ten. Interesting collection man. Thanks, enjoyed it.
