And you haven't thought it through Nothing has an intrinsic value. It's either set by supply and demand or a government sets the value of something to base the economy on. If it's set by a government it's no longer tied to its value and doesn't prevent inflation etc. Gold? It has value because we think it does, though it's handy for electronics and switches. So try telling us all what has an actual intrinsic value beyond what we've decided what it's worth
yeah my feeling also at about the same time. i remeber one story a person grew a black tulip.. a group of might as call em what they were "investors" found out contacted him offered exorbinate amounts of $$ he accepted handed over the one and only bulb he had .. they threw it on the ground and stomped on it... because they had grew they own black tulip and wanted no competition.
Oh boy, now even youtubers are lurking in my browser history I'm joking, but it it a weird coincidence that this video in particular came out two days after I looked up the tulip bubble for the first time
The story was obviously based on the real events of the Dutch tulip trade, where tulips were vastly over-valued and eventually (and inevitibly) the economic "bubble" burst, ruining many traders who had depended upon the value of tulips remaining inflated. Ironically, it was the most-desired and most expensive tulips which were intrinsically the least valuable. Everyone wanted the "varigated" and striped tulips, never realising that the varigations and striping was caused by fungal growths and diseases infecting the tulip.
The author is definitely well versed in European cultural and political history. The tulip craze was the first ever financial investment into what we now call 'futures' trading and subsequent bubble to burst and collapse taking fortunes and economies with it
I'm sure you're family will put that in your obituary one day. Beloved son/daughter, sibling, spouse, parent. Also once had the first comment on a UA-cam video .
Based on the title, I was expecting an Opium Wars reference.
Dutch Tulip Bubble is nice too.
So humans eventually learned the danger of decoupling price from intrinsic value? That would be nice.
And you haven't thought it through

This happened in Real life, Holland was never the same again.
I read about that about 50 years ago, it was amazing how it happened.
Sounds like the humans played the war on a planned economic level in a long game. That works.

Oh my goodness..... The ultimate bioweapon is tulip mania.
I know it says tulip, but I'm just imagining the flowers as the hollow knight delicate flower, since it is also very pretty. Lovely story!

All over a tulip. Seems that alien speculation is just as dumb as the human one...😂
Well to be fair a flower that makes you like it psychically would be hard to get past.

Great story; Excellent narration! At least the flowers had some intrinsic value. Beanie babies, on the other hand, had no intrinsic value! LOL!!!

Money, in all its forms, only serves to divide people into classes based on wealth.
Now this is an intelligent story. Well done. 😂
Oh no, lotus flowers. I have read enough modern Greek myth fics to know where this is going.
