Many air quality sensors, particularly those measuring specific gases, need to be warmed up before providing accurate readings as their internal mechanisms require time to reach a stable operating temperature; this is often due to a built-in heater element within the sensor that needs to warm up to function properly. This is particularly true of those measuring volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which rely on chemical reactions that are temperature-dependent.
Great explanation Paul..yes some things are definitely worth waiting for..
Your reviews are always a breath of fresh air. 🎉
@pault6533 muhahaha...good one Paul!
Hello Darrend thanks for review .. very interesting your video very helpful love u from Indonesia🤗
Appreciate it my friend! Always happy to hear from my Indonesian viewers! 😊
@KeepOnTesting cheers my friend 🥳keep on testing
Thanks. The temperature did come down closer to the others later in the review, though still slightly high. It appears from the video that that the Mustool triggers the audible alarm for PM2.5 at 100ug/m^3, but it doesn't seem smart about it and when the levels are bouncing around 100 the alarm will trigger with each crossing. The bouncing values suggests that they might want to improve their averaging.
The output values themselves need smoothing, but the audible alarm should definitely include a timer such that it won't repeatedly occur if the values jump back and forth across the trigger point. Like a lot of products today, this does most things right, but is missing the software polish that would make it great. Many Chinese products get to about 90% in the usability category and then call it finished ;).
You nailed it! This one is a little rough around the edges, but for the price.. it's still a good deal..
did you open it to see what sensors are inside?
@hachogonzalez8649 unfortunately not.
I would have had to break it since it was glued together...If I snag another, I will do a follow-up on keepontesting.com
Thanks for the review! As portable as it is, I say lose the wifi, speed up the update rate (it looks really slow on camera) and maybe have a battery with a higher capacity of charge.
All great points! 👉😊👈 Especially the battery upgrade..
Why didn't you do a teardown of this?
How many things were skipped to make that thing? The update rate is that slow, shame because their UI looks decent! It may not be for critical use, but still.
The high temperature would be caused by the heater on a sensor in the unit, meaning their temp sensor is at a bad spot. Does it have a fan or some sort to run out of battery quick?
No fan inside..passive cooling with side venting only..
@@KeepOnTesting Was expecting a fan to "breathe" the air around it, considering the round vent at the back. Thanks for the heads-up!
Very interesting found device, as always. It´s not only a useful additional device near a soldering station, but near 3D-printers too. Even if they have a closed housing (maybe with filters). Somehow it would be of interest for me how the index is calculated... Btw.: The EU has passed a regulation regarding charging ports. No company owned, propietary solutions (in the past done by Apple, Samsung, e.g.) or one of several standards (micro-USB, mini-USB e.g.) anymore. If it is a device, that can be charged, then the port has to be USB-C. Sometimes EU regulations make sense... Have you already practiced "Star-sprangled Banner" diligently now? Look at the advantage: No longer would be a visa required to visit Greenland. Maybe you will miss your usual healthcare, but: Nothing is perfect...Slava Ukraini!
Hehe..no thanks to becoming a 51 state..Canadians stand proud and free just like our Ukrainian friends! Yes, I often use these air quality monitors for 3d printing as well..so it's a great idea! 👍 USB-C just names sense doesn't it! Kudos to the EU!
@@KeepOnTesting At least right now, it seems, he is very busy to aquire some soil with seaview in the middle-east...
Missed opportunity of Mustool to use that Preheating time in conjunction with the old Konami warming up time tune! (ua-cam.com/video/-dVDj6YhdNs/v-deo.html)
@@ssalient hehe...absolutely!
Thanks for the test, but.....easy pass on that thing!
Thx for watching ! 👀
