    Thank you for the scaffolded lesson that makes the material much easier to understand. I just wanted to share that the most appropriate and commonly used measure word for a dog is 条, while 只 is mostly used for a puppy.

    The teacher did a wonderful job. Her voice for the most part was very clear and understandable. My only suggestion would be for her to learn better pronunciation of the English word "measure". Every time she said "measure", it sounded like she was saying the Chinese "Méiyǒu" (没有), leaving her to sound as if she was saying "没有 word". (That would mean "no word" or "don't have a word".)
    I'm not trying to be overly critical. Far from it. I simply want to offer a suggestion that might polish her already fine presentation even further.

    Question. When is 只 not used? It says it's a m.w. for some animals, so what animals would you not use this m.w.?
    Is their an easy rule to follow so one remembers when it's appropriate to use or not?

      fish use tiao (条)

    • @PrawjektSilvia
      @PrawjektSilvia 5 років тому

      Rule of thumb: if you can hold it in your hands, use 只. i.e. bird, mouse, etc.
      Exception: If it fits into another category, use the M.W. for that category. Like gmcmisty said; fish uses 条. Even though you can hold it in your hands, it moves like a snake.

    • @dabaja101
      @dabaja101 Рік тому

      Livestock and large animals use tou, horses use pi, snakes use tiao.
      One idea is to learn the appropriate m.w. at the same time when you learn a new noun.
