It should also be said that the trees converted to mossy ones at fall drop mossy seeds and generate mossy seeds around them even though they turn back to what they were at spring. This results in getting mossy trees starting to grow at fall if you do not clear them regularly.
From what I’ve tested so far, as long as the tree is fully grown and a tapper is placed on them before that 5% chance changes the tree, they will still produce the tapper product of the tree it originally was. My maple trees were tapped and continued to give me maple syrup even though they changed into mossy trees come fall. So yeah as long as you have it set up before fall, it doesn’t affect your tree farm 😊
Also excellent for farming moss. I think I earned around 250 moss from clearing the map of bushes and trees, helped get one of the new statues much quicker!

Also, very importantly, make sure you dont upgrade your axe in summer now. I started my axe upgrade 2 days before the rain. My axe was ready on the day of the rain, but Clint refused to give me it since he was in the saloon all day, so I couldn't get any mossy seeds
Good to know about the fall bit. It upset me with my tapper farm. ALSO! much like the berry bushes, it appears the chance increases with resetting a day

I think my game was bugged because I got my first green rain like normal with all the fiber and ferns trees and scared villagers. but then I got it a second time, and the second time some had scared dialogue like it was the first time and some had dialogue for the second time I guess. Also demetrius wasnt in his hazmat suit the second time but had the same dialogue as if he was.

Oof, the bit about the converting of Oak trees in the fall is DEVESTATING for people working to grow their keg empires. I always made a grid of 100 Oak trees that I could tap and harvest 100 resin a week through most of fall/winter/spring and have most of the kegs I wanted ready to go by Summer Year 2 when my Ancient Fruit were ready to roll at peak efficiency on Ginger Island and the Farm. This makes that plan really unpredictable since my tapped trees can get turned into the moss trees for up to half the year. I wonder if this change was deliberate JUST to mess with this common money making strategy.
For some reason 3 of my oak trees at the desert suddenly transformed into green rain trees, it was at summer and they went like a week like that (i choped them)
OK I'm confused cause quite a few of my tapered trees changed to non leaf versions after the rain. Do they lose their properties as well or is it just visually. Do I need to replant? If so that makes maintaining a tree farm rough
Do you know the radius of which the green rain trees boost moss growth (as per latest patch)? Does having multiple green rain trees with overlapping radiuses stack this chance? I'm thinking of a moss farm setup
I'm 75% sure at least some trees do not revert. It might be a mod conflict or me just misunderstanding, but the normal green rain trees seem to stick around. I've gotten mossy seeds out of season from some, too.
Does the moss that appears on the regular trees during green rain stay till the next day, or do we need to harvest as much as possible during the green rain?
You can't tap the new trees. The trees that are converted and already have tappers on them will produce what their usual tree would produce, even if the appeareance doesn't match on green rain day
@@TheBadDeadFoxyou can tap green rain trees, they give fiddlehead ferns. Not sure about whether or not converted trees can be tapped though, only planted from my testing ingame

I am annoyed by the trees converted in the fall because the tappers don't work on them anymore and i had quite a few of them tapped
