Great video Stan. One thing to add. The power to the 110V outlet will shut off then the vehicles auto start stop is enabled (which is enabled by default anytime you initially start the vehicle) so it kills the apple TV when you come to a stoplight unless you manually manually disable auto start/stop every time.

Not as sexy as wireless screen mirroring, but works like a charm!
I really appreciate this video. I have spent so much time trying to figure out the best way to use my apple device (for my toddler) with the 2021 Tahoe rear media! Also it might help others to know that if they find themselves in a situation where their rear passenger is too little to wear the wireless headphones, it works well to use a small Bluetooth speaker clipped on a carseat etc . I didn’t want to listen to toddler cartoons while driving but I wanted my 2 year old to be able to hear watch she was watching on her rear screen.
Thank you so very much for this video. I understand the advertising for the GMC and the vehicle and the beginning. But I could have gone without all of that. I just fast forwarded to your "meat" of the video. Thanks so very much for this! I just purchased the 2021 High Country Chevy Suburban, as we are foster parents of 6 children. I needed this! I truly appreciate your "meat" of the video. Have a blessed day!
I have tried the Apple TV and the fire stick in my Denali. They fire stick worked waaay better for me. The fire stick actually has the Apple TV app so I still could access all of my movies
This system is idiotic. @generalmotors really dropped the ball. Solving the issue would have only taken another day to two. The fact that we are 3 months down the road and they have yet to figure this out is frustrating.
I would have to agree that the system is overly complicated. But I think GM’s goal was to keep it from getting hacked or “jail broken” so in turn it makes it not so user friendly. They should have outsourced it to a OS developer.
I'm actually super disappointed in this "entertainment system." To get the sound through the car, it has to Bluetooth. That means if you get a phone call, it won't continue to work on the screens. They should have kept the 2 systems separate from each other. The miracast from an Android phone is okay, but a lot of work to setup every time. And, if my passengers aren't older, it's definitely tricky for younger kids. Plus, the draining on the phone battery is ridiculous if you are casting. It's really the setup that is the problem. If I'm doing something wrong, I would be happy to hear it! Plugging in anything HDMI into the back of the center console seems ridiculous to me as this is where kids are climbing back to their seats. It's just asking to get kicked, pulled out, and broken. I can't believe for a '21 that this system isn't more refined. They should have just included the option of a simple dvd drive as a fail proof.
Please tell me there is a way to play the rear entertainment audio through the speakers. Why on earth would this feature not be on these vehicles. Incredibly frustrating! Especially since factory headphones cut in and out all the time and sometimes just quit working completely. Very disappointing entertainment system. Has anyone figured a way to play the audio through the speakers on a 21 Yukon??
For those also looking how to do this. I finally found out how! Not easily found or anywhere in the manual! Go to your Home Screen on the front screen and tap rear entertainment. Select 1 or 2 (whichever one is playing the movie), and there should be an icon to press labeled as “listen”.
Have a 2021 Tahoe. The system is definitely quirky. On a four hour road trip to WI over Xmas a plugged in Roku device worked. A few days later on the way back to MN, couldn't get the system to recognize the Roku no matter what I did. Disappointed in this expensive option. Also FYI, system updates aren't automatically downloaded over the air. You have to call GM support to have a tech do an over the air update.
Yea I can see how that can suck, when something stops working for no reason. As far as updates the vehicles update regularly on their own, you just don’t know it. I’m sure calling will help speed it up. Now if the entertainment system has a separate update process that would make sense too.
@@Stan1le I suppose they do update. I just recall sitting in my driveway talking to GM support and sitting there for like 15 minutes with the truck running while the tech did an update. He told me about the update process. I was just in for the complimentary oil change and had the tech run a diagnostic on the entertainment system and couldn't find anything wrong, go figure. Have the RST in Shadow Gray and love the vehicle aside from thus particular issue.
Have to use the front main screen to pair them I believe. Haven’t messed with the headphones yet so I’m not 100% sure. But I know the manual tells you how to do it.
i just got my 21 yukon denali yesterday i tried for over an hour... nothing. My airpods connected seamlessly! i watched a video on the GMC website on how to connect headphones and they're not even using their headphones they're using Bose!!! Makes me wonder if they even actually work!
Unfortunately I can’t help with that because I don’t own any android devices. Last time I used it Miracast was its own app that was free to use. Maybe that has changed since I made this video but I am not sure
it works but at the time of this video it wasn't simple plug and play. Some people have found easier solutions to using these monitors but it depends on your input device. There have also been software updates.
Miracast does not work for iPhone at all. There is comment down here where someone mentioned they used a HDMI to lightning cable adapter and it worked. There is not a way to do it wirelessly for Apple. Here’s the product: amzn.to/3qBrgGK (don’t be fooled by the non Apple/cheaper ones) they won’t work.
Good video. Shoulda rehearsed first bit still informative. Can u connect a ps, Xbox, switch or even a blu ray player? Streaming seems like it'll kill the data plan. Or is the 4g capability unlimited? How much is the 4g plan??
Thanks. This wasn’t meant to be a super overproduced video so a rehearsal seems a bit overkill. Not sure about those other devices. Someone commented and noted that the manual tells you which devices are compatible with the screens. Just try plugging them into the HDMI ports and see what it does! As far as data that is between you and OnStar, you can negotiate the price down if you are savvy enough.
So GM build this system not to work with IPhone support and it Apples fault, does the head unit support wireless CarPlay if not it’s not Apple fault it’s GM’s

Do you have to have a prescription with miracast for it to work also connected to vehicle wifi

Do we need to buy a WiFi plan to play UA-cam on the car , either iPhone or android?
not necessarily. You can provide your own wifi via some type of hotspot. But since the vehicle has it built in, that seems much easier
