This one video, which I originally created more as an exercise in self-indulgence; one for me to view when seeking peace and tranquillity when feeling a tad down, is the only video which caused me to engage in some soul searching as to whether I should even consider it going public, has become my "opus magnum". This work by Neil deserves notice for it is so unlike most of his repertoire. I especially like the original sheet music, entitled "Anthem" at 0:43. High pitched strings at 2:04 breaks way to children's choirs singing in perfect harmony the ancient Latin words of Sanctus, (Holy), and the Greek word, Kyrie. Symbolism abounds with the dove, completed by sounds of the piano and strings with the beauty of the creation in the awesome mountains and still life waterfalls being choreographed by the beating of the drum and strings to completion of a tranquil blue night with a full moon to light its way. Chopin and his Prelude No. 9 in E Major would be impressed. Doug combined perfect imagery in all the right places in this music video with masterful photography by those mentioned in the notes. ✨

UA-cam App is available, just like on my cell phone, so I was perusing on it last evening and there were two videos together, one from Neil Diamond and the second one was Neil Diamond Central's one that is this piece. I often watch a variety of podcasts in addition to music on UA-cam.

This is from the movie 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull'. The audio was a big hit for Neil but sadly the movie didnt get the deserved respect and honor at the box office. Sad. Maybe it was too deep and a few people like his die hard fans got the meaning and watched it. I am one of those who watched it because i read the book written by Sebastian Bach. Beautiful, spiritual, inspirational and uplifting. Good for medidation .I totally enjoyed the movie and songs.

@@NeilDiamondCentral yea, i kinda got mixed up with the names. Nevertheless, i understood the movie's message very well, while my friend slept through the movie and woke up when it ended. LOL. Neil's voice and songs did justice to the movie's theme. My favourite album is HOT AUGUST NIGHT and i saw some of it in UA-cam when he performed at the Greek Theatre in 1977.

You're right, Neil's voice and the song he composed do indeed do justice to the movie. _"I didn't have the vaguest idea how to write songs from a seagull's point of view, so I_ _turned it down. Then I thought a little more and decided to do it. I figured nobody else had more insight into writing for a seagull, so why not?"_ Diamond did a lot of soul-searching to understand the seagull in the film. His songs were getting more philosophical, and this reflected his spiritual search as well. Diamond spoke about his experience working on the film in his Behind The Music: _"The process itself - the writing and the understanding that you had to come to - was also an interesting part of_ _my life, and also reflects my idea of self-improvement and moving on and not necessarily traveling with the flock. It was a great experience."_ The show you are referring to was actually Neil's 'Love At The Greek' in 1977. It followed closely on the heels of Neil's 'Moods' album ('Prelude in E Major' and 'Theme'), and his historic, stunning 'Hot August Night' concerts of 1972. It was following this series of Hot August Night concerts that Neil decided to take a break from live performances. This was his sabbatical (almost 4 years), a period of great introspection. It was during this period of relative quiet that he was approached to write the film score for Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Worth noting here that the movie soundtrack was the first ever, and since, to gross more than the actual movie itself. I love all of his music. I own every album on Vinyl and some cd's. Cd's for the car. I still play all of them. The album Jonathan Livingston Seagull which is were the Anthem is from. It is one of my favorites I just ordered the movie, I use to own on VHS. Also, enjoy Stones. Also own several concerts DVD's, movies, and a episode of 1965 TV show Mannix. Neil played himself were he sung in a dive bar. Even had a small speaking role. Mannix in a fight. He says can I finish my set first. I just enjoy his music

This one video, which I originally created more as an exercise in self-indulgence; one for me to view when seeking peace and tranquillity when feeling a tad down, is the only video which caused me to engage in some soul searching as to whether I should even consider it going public, has become my "opus magnum". This is indeed a pleasant surprise. I almost feel that it is akin to, and I quote Jesus Christ, _"The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone."_ Coincidentally, the images are so befitting of the said quote.

This work by Neil deserves notice for it is so unlike most of his repertoire. I especially like the original sheet music, entitled "Anthem" at 0:43. High pitched strings at 2:04 breaks way to children's choirs singing in perfect harmony the ancient Latin words of Sanctus, (Holy), and the Greek word, Kyrie. Symbolism abounds with the dove, completed by sounds of the piano and strings with the beauty of the creation in the awesome mountains and still life waterfalls being choreographed by the beating of the drum and strings to completion of a tranquil blue night with a full moon to light its way. Chopin and his Prelude No. 9 in E Major would be impressed. Doug combined perfect imagery in all the right places in this music video with masterful photography by those mentioned in the notes. ✨

This is from the movie 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull'. The audio was a big hit for Neil but sadly the movie didnt get the deserved respect and honor at the box office. Sad. Maybe it was too deep and a few people like his die hard fans got the meaning and watched it. I am one of those who watched it because i read the book written by Sebastian Bach. Beautiful, spiritual, inspirational and uplifting. Good for medidation .I totally enjoyed the movie and songs.

@@NeilDiamondCentral yea, i kinda got mixed up with the names. Nevertheless, i understood the movie's message very well, while my friend slept through the movie and woke up when it ended. LOL. Neil's voice and songs did justice to the movie's theme.
My favourite album is HOT AUGUST NIGHT and i saw some of it in UA-cam when he performed at the Greek Theatre in 1977.

Then I thought a little more and decided to do it. I figured nobody else had more insight into writing for a seagull, so why not?"_
Diamond did a lot of soul-searching to understand the seagull in the film. His songs were getting more philosophical, and this reflected his spiritual search as well. Diamond spoke about his experience working on the film in his Behind The Music: _"The process itself - the writing and the understanding that you had to come to - was also an interesting part of_ _my life, and also reflects my idea of self-improvement and moving on and not necessarily traveling with the flock. It was a great experience."_
The show you are referring to was actually Neil's 'Love At The Greek' in 1977. Hot August Night took place in 1972 and there is no video footage of that performance as Neil later said, _"I’ve always regretted not filming the Hot August Night concert in ‘72, an album so pivotal in my career."_

It followed closely on the heels of Neil's 'Moods' album ('Prelude in E Major' and 'Theme'), and his historic, stunning 'Hot August Night' concerts of 1972. It was following this series of Hot August Night concerts that Neil decided to take a break from live performances. This was his sabbatical (almost 4 years), a period of great introspection. It was during this period of relative quiet that he was approached to write the film score for Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Worth noting here that the movie soundtrack was the first ever, and since, to gross more than the actual movie itself.

I love all of his music. I own every album on Vinyl and some cd's. Cd's for the car. I still play all of them. The album Jonathan Livingston Seagull which is were the Anthem is from. It is one of my favorites I just ordered the movie, I use to own on VHS. Also, enjoy Stones. Also own several concerts DVD's, movies, and a episode of 1965 TV show Mannix. Neil played himself were he sung in a dive bar. Even had a small speaking role. Mannix in a fight. He says can I finish my set first. I just enjoy his music
