i am a CWI and i am now qualifying a welder for 6" titanium pipe , and i need all the help i can get, because the resulting weld bead is like a freaking rainbow,so please hurry up with the other parts. this one is awesome thanx a lot.
@kaledakkila1 We are shooting parts 1 and 2 on April 23 - 25. We should have part 2 posted the following Friday. In the meantime, you can download the Titanium Weld Color Quality Inspection Chart at Weld.com. See the show notes above for the direct link.
kaledakkila1, How to Weld Titanium part 2 is now live. The title is "TIG Time Episode 19: How to Weld Titanium (part 2)". We also filmed parts 3 and 4! stay tuned for upcoming episodes.
Jose, The episode you need to check out is TIG Time Episode 11: How to Weld Stainless Steel (Part 2). It should give you the answers you are looking for.
Dear sir as a beginner like me, i just want to know what should we use to weld titanium..?? I mean the tungsten, filler rod and etc..hope you can explain here. Tq
I use a repurposed harrible freight sand blasting booth and purge the air out with a shop vac, (a few pinches of magnesium powder in a grounded (contact) ceramic lamp insulator to start a test arc, when the magnesium doesn’t ignite, the titanium won’t because theres no oxygen. I use this for stainless because the fumes are sucked out of the shop
I don't see the hole everyone is talking about in the comments, if your talking about that black spec it's a lack of reflecting light on a curved surface.
hello, i'm from argentina would be great if some of the videos of tig on carbon steel and stainless steel have Castilian or Spanish subtitles! Greetings excellent program very good quality ...
This guy is such a douche bag that he really can't be translated without loosing the poignancy of just how embarrassing "Mr. Tig" is to the welding and online community.
Mister Tig were is the oximeter? You just wait until it's good also works but it's a great tool, I use a extra too (costume build)l to attach on the torch, I use 3 backing gas 🤪, and welding is this, there's a lot of technics that we can learn, every pipe every material demands different techniques, even the distance from the tungsten to the cup matters. Thanks for helping Young generation's 🙏🏽
Brenden Fullmer Actually, you nailed the reason it matters in your comment; the color indicates the oxidation state of the metal, which in turn, indicates how much the weld has reacted with the oxygen and hydrogen (and many other gases) in the air. This reaction can cause inferior and/or brittle welds. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the physical side of your technique (i.e. angle of the dangle, motion of the ocean) rather, you were too slow or amperage was too high and the metal got cooked. TL;DR: Once the weld starts to react with the air, the part is as good as trash.
Way to drop the Ball Mr. Tig that was an introduction how about telling us what filler rod you using to tack with Usually really great videos that 1 was Not in formable at all useless I want my 6 minutes and 40 seconds back please lol
I always have a giggle when chemists (respectable in their own right, mind you) weigh in and tell a skilled welder what he's doing wrong. This is Rembrandt level welding. The only way to understand it is to do it. NASA is the most stressful work place on the fucking planet by the way.
Not Bad A/c Guy cfm on argon would be helpful learning here so help I want. 3/32 1/16" electrode type 3% lanthanated these little things are missed in Video it's nice you can weld I cn tig ok but want better as a learner. I do this as a hobbies for the time until I do exams. Home taught and UA-cam learning do more is better . Thanks Gas cups might be a good video all on it's own been looking for them bu no real luck.
Argon is an INERT gas. Will not react with anything. Only health/safery risk is suffocation. Educated yourself on physics/chemistry before you start commenting on videos trying to frighten people.

I can't wait to see part 2 and 3 of Titanium. Such a cool material.

oh god it loves argon… i was running 35 cfh with a 19 cup… 17 seconds of post flow, 3 seconds of preflow
Big Understatement...Ti is so freaking sensitive to atmosphere, you borderline have to shield until it is cool to the touch. Crazy stuff...
Back in the day when Oxy-acetylene welding was king, what type of flux was used to keep the reactive metal from damaging oxygen ??? Thanks Mr. Tig
Do I just use the same tungsten I do for welding mild steel or do I HAVE to use something special like with aluminum?
Nah for tig I'm pretty sure it's good for all jus dont contaminate and follow proper procedures
No special tungsten needed, just dont use zirconiated as it doesnt weld on DC very well at all. Pops and spits.
Is the tungsten same with a stainless welding tungsten
Those bad welds look like something coming out of Litespeed.
The page on the website isn't available anymore
hi how to set up purging stainless steal 304 L .. i have problems .. my welds do you have samples like it titanium ..
Mr. TIG,
I can't find Grade 5 AL6-4 filler rod. Where can I get it?
Thanks,
GE
How many gas need to cover , when weld the sliver color ?
the chart link invalid
He seems like the guy that gives himself a nickname.

Can you review BUDGET tig welders under 500 bucks?? It would be nice to weld some pipes at the homestead but dont want to spend 2k to do it..

Why do so many ultralight backpacking people use titanium stoves that go over 700° is that’s bad?
Why not weld in a vacuum chamber or argon filled chamber?
Do you have one?
@@jensonhartmann3630 Are you looking to purchase one?

So I see if your a Ace titanium welder your basically a god

Why does the color matter? Shouldn't that be just surface oxidation?

15 seconds post lol. Why not make it a full minute

Dentistry has gotten real complicated these days.

NASA is the most stressful work place on the fucking planet by the way.
I’ve heard welding TI can put off dangerous fumes
Ozone. Thats pretty much it.
You might be thinking of stick welding stainless, the fumes that come from that sht are evil

this was exceptionally unhelpful to me, a beginner.
you didnt explain power, speed, anything! you didnt show common mistakes and troubleshooting. wtf
Well just waisted 6 minutes of my life
Lol
Hahahahaha
Ööp
MR ROUGH AS FUCK
His videos are hard to follow, " I am going to pull off this post flow early to see what happens !!! Then show the result of that !!!
