An interview with Focke-Wulf FW190 pilot Fritz P. Boost. Original footage was taken by Navajo1970 and is seperated in 10 parts. After the Second World War, he became a high school German/English teacher in the United States. In this interview, Fritz describes being shot down by an american P-51 Mustang.
Fritz P. Boost November 25, 1922 - May 1, 2009 SALEM, passed away on May 1, 2009 after a short battle with leukemia. He was 86. Born and raised in Bitterfeld, Germany, he was preceded in death by his father, Otto, who was killed in 1945 at the Buchenwald Concentration Camp; his mother, Hedwig, in 1974; and brother, Gerhard in 1982. During WWII, he flew transport planes including the ME323 and the JU52, mostly ferrying back the dead and wounded.

Freddie Boost was my German teacher in High School. We called him Freddie after his story about the French girlfriend he had while a POW after the war. I can’t believe he looks exactly the same as back then (class of ‘71). He and the physics teacher, who was in the USAF, determined from their memories that they might have been trying to shoot each other down one day during the war. Became best of friends.

I had Fritz as my German teacher for 2 years at McNary High School in Keizer, Oregon. He was an awesome teacher and person. Heard many of his stories from WW2. He, like many of his fellow Germans, hated the Nazis.

After the war Mr. Boost finished university and married. He and his wife moved to the US and he taught English, French and German. I wish I had a teacher or neighbour like him. That generation is just about gone now. I remember I was a huge Field Marshal Erwin Rommel fan. I wrote to his son, who was a mayor in Germany. I remember getting a 2 page, hand written letter from him. Most of them were just kids. Mr. Boost's father died in a concentration camp. The war didn't escape his family.

Rommel’s son was mayor of Stuttgard and Patton’s son was the 2star general deputy commander of VII Corp also in Stuttgard.

the people nowadays wanna make a Nazi out of everyone who was on the german side in WWII. FAct was, Günther Rall said it in an interview, they did never hear of anything concerning the concentration camps and were also shocked, but forced to keep on fighting.

I don't believe that no German soldiers knew about the Endloesung but I do believe that those who knew about it were in the minority.

I dont't think German soldiers were any more monsters than the Allies or Russians, for the most part. Then again, I'm sure there were some monsters on both sides. That's just the way it goes...it's human nature. And I am talking about actual soldiers here, not the SS or Gestapo, with the exception of Waffen SS of course.

Sounds Germany had a a great screening program for the recruits and would of put the psycho's in the Gestapo and other areas where evil is required.

I’ve listened to lots of Luftwaffe pilots and I think it’s a bloody shame we had to kill each other. They seem just like our own gentlemen like Johnie Johnson or Douglas Bader and I know that so many x enemy are now best friends. War is a silly bloody game that wastes the lives of decent human beings as well as the monsters.

On the West the pilots respected the enemy pilots, they were like knights. One time the germans even let the british pilots to send a bomber dropping an artificial leg for a brittish POW. The bomber could leave german airspace safe.

In 2022 I think it’s pretty obvious that well meaning good people have the ability to go with the flow when a government tells them to do so....if there’s a strong consistent narrative coming from institutions that people respect....an eye opening amount of people will stay in step with that narrative
I’m in no way meaning to compare 1930’s Germany to the circus we’ve seen since 2020....however institutions are out of step with data/logic and science and a lot of well meaning people were quickly conditioned to judge and chastise their peers.
Hypothetically I used to wonder who would resist or cave to propaganda if presented with such. And I don’t think we have to wonder any more. I’m fairly certain that what I’m saying will make more sense in 12-18 months

Herr Boost would disagree with you 100%. I was in his German class in High School. He would tell us stories all of the time. One was when Hitler came to his high school. The students were told to buy flowers to throw at Hitler's feet. When Fritz asked his father for some money to buy flowers, his father gave him extra money. When he asked why, his dad said to make sure the flowers were in a pot. His father was eventually arrested and died in a concentration camp. Both Herr Boost and his brother were conscripted into the German military. Fritz became a pilot while his brother became a doctor. Herr Boost hated Hitler. 100%
