What is there not to love about the Irish? Nothing. I love everything -- their music, language, stories, castles, ruins, warm pubs and welcoming nature and especially all that green grass -- so vibrant. Every time I entered a pub in Dublin, I was greeted with a smile. One can't say that about every place in the world -- but it is certainly true of Ireland. It's a very wholesome place.
I understood it perfectly well, I wonder if the church or law records of the time has any documents to back this up, what a great story! I don't know why it is but the northern irish are fantastic story tellers as a people. Thanks for keeping this tale alive.
It's just a strong Northern Irish Accent, I'm from Lisburn, near Drumbeg where the video starts. I never realized the Ghost story was so popular, informative, cheers.
@TexasCenaGurl I agree. Ireland has numerous ghost stories. I once encountered a ghost of a very beautiful, smiling lady in a nursery home. Dressed in the fashion of WWII era, she stood near a elderly woman in bed. When I saw how the ghost looked at the patient, I instantly knew that she was the deceased mother. She wore a motherly expression of love on her face. She next turned to me and thanked me for caring for her daughter. She called me "doll." Lastly she disappeared into thin air.
Sadly the language(s) like most around the world go out with the older generation because this one doesn't seem very interested in learning it. I think the biggest tragedy is losing one's roots.
Awk, I remember we had a substitute teacher in primary school and he would tell us this story. Spooked me. I actually went to that graveyard on Hallowe'en 3 years ago. Scary place in the dark. Two friends and I went and we thought up a name of a person we would say we were visiting, if we had been stopped. And a name just popped into my head - Robert Williamson. And the first grave we saw when walking in was that of a Robert Williamson - a new grave. Scared the lot of us! lol
I'm from Lambeg and there is much more stories from Lambeg to lady dixons, there is court records (which was in Carrickfergus Castle at time) backing up haddock story

i don't know why i find these interesting... i guess they are entertaining, but i always wondered if some of these are real and if they are, then why doesn't anyone i know, or even me, ever experience this.
@ItchyBirdDmb hey im from the us(american) and i understand middle eastern austrailian african and irish just fine so maybe the americans you're referring to just don't listen hard enough
all these comments about it's northern Irish talk.....lol...the proper term is Gaelic. I am an american (born) but since doing my family tree have decided to teach my kids the language my family left behind. It is nice to have a converation with my husband in the old language so that my In-laws can't understand and be their usual nosey eavesdropping selves. It's sad that americans are annoyed by their ancestors' languages, but after all they do say ignorance is bliss.
Irish people are difficult to understand--they garble their words a lot. I grant you its musical. Perhaps they should learn the Gaelic again and speak that as their main language again.
Please type this out. We can't understand what you are saying at all. The recording is bad. Then rest of the world can't make out your accent. I want to hear your stories.
you think i had a choice? my family decided to have something better so we moved here. America is pretty pathetic i forgot why i even said that in the comment about making your race look bad i dont even remember why i said that
How can you tell a man to talk normal English when he is speaking normally? 😂 😂 Do you want him to talk in a fake accent? What a dumb silly blt¢h you must be

I had no issues with the accent, at all. It's the AUDIO quality that kills it. Absolute crap audio. But for that flaw, it is a fine bit.

Irish people are difficult to understand--they garble their words a lot. I grant you its musical. Perhaps they should learn the Gaelic again and speak that as their main language again.
