It wasn’t a sample. Just the words were inspired, tune completely different. I don’t think MJ owed Dibango anything for a phrase. Though he ended up paying.

Mj was actually 9 when those first songs came out but he was 8 when they were signed to Motown. They never really recorded at the Detroit location because motown moved to California in 1970.
