It is right and proper to remember the sacrifice of these soldiers 80 years on from the battle of Kohima and the siege of Imphal, however it would be more correct to describe their sacrifice as being alongside the British rather than for them. The allied forces fought and died together on many fronts to win the Second World War against those forces who opposed them.
Brave bloody men that deserve so much more credit from us as a nation than we do.
