There are some important info that are missing. Lord Vishwakarma was the craftsman and he asked that , he should not be disturbed while he's working on the statues. Since the queen, opened the doors, before he completed the entire statue, Vishwakarma stopped working on his craft. Hence, Lord Jagannath and others do not have any hands and it's said that these statues are incomplete.

I heard a different version of the story. Not sure of the first part...but the 1 week time thing and the rest is similar. Jai jagganath. Got the opportunity to visit the temple at a very young age. So historical. So many devotees....
I am born to a spiritual family where my parents are utmost devotees of Hindu gods but I wasn't like them, I made wish to every god but I don't get the results as usual somehow after visiting PURI on my own ( without my family but with some friends ) I wished 3 things and miraculously 2 wishes came true really soon and later on another impossible wish came true which made me believe in the existence of Lord Jagannath. I felt really good and went on from being an non-believer to a devotee of Lord Jagannath ( Jay Jagannath ) !

I have just visited the temple ,there is one thing i want to add that the prasad is not given for free,too much charge is taken from everyone who are willing to take prasad,even we had to give well amount of money to the pandit for puja ,we were told they wont let us worship otherwise. Everything there is related to bribe ,the more you give the more the pandits will be happy and will say ok now the god will bless you. 😅
When you go to Jagannath Temple always opt for puja via Govt. Centre. I wont say the charges are less but atleast you don't have to pay middle man for prasad

I hope to visit India one day, and Jagannath Mandir in Puri is on my top list, apart from Varanasi & Ayodhya, good to know that born in Hindu brahmin family I can enter the temple as an outsider
one correction: Stone is not always a good conductor of electricity conductor as some don't have metallic composition. Selected stones have metallic composition.

I have just visited the temple ,there is one thing i want to add that the prasad is not given for free,too much charge is taken from everyone who are willing to take prasad,even we had to give well amount of money to the pandit for puja ,we were told they wont let us worship otherwise. Everything there is related to bribe ,the more you give the more the pandits will be happy and will say ok now the god will bless you. 😅
pandits are the ones who messed up the whole Hinduism.

When you go to Jagannath Temple always opt for puja via Govt. Centre. I wont say the charges are less but atleast you don't have to pay middle man for prasad
