Kombi and Me with "Winter Blues"

What a difference a few days can make. Suddenly I'm down with flu like symptoms and then the Kombi goes out in sympathy with a broken engine mount.

Here in Germany, this vehicle is called VW Bus or Bulli. A Kombi is any station wagon, which VW calls Variant (Passat Variant), and the French call Break.

Had a 69 like that in Oz back in day, great van went all over OZ in it. Had a 66 after I came back. It had a newer 1600 and it blew a pot going through Hamilton going home to Napier. NY weekend and no one open. On the Mon I got a new pot and piston. Pulled the motor in the driveway of a friend and dropped it on the spare tire, push the van forward, pulled the head and replaced the blown pot. Back together and I think we them lifted it on to a car jack, rolled the van back put it back in. The old split windows allowed the back cross member to unbolt and that made it easier. Here I think you'd have a higher lift of the van, but still doable. Good times, cool vans.

@@LittleCamperNZ There were a lot of kombis in Oz then. I was there 1980+ and they were everywhere. Mine was old compared to many of them. I knew contractors using them. Kind of the Hiace before the Hiace. The Hiace at the time there was not as good as these old kombi.

@@kiwivanman9035 yes a great tap, you should get one. I know of a wonderful guy in south Auckland who makes very impressive stealth campers who could help you. Lol
