Hey please make more videos, you content is very interesting everytime. As a 400x owner my self I am also looking for changing the sprocket as some people outside India. You are the first guy in india who made a video about this. Thank you. Hopefully oneday we will ride together. As this is my first bike I follow mostly all youtubers who makes video for 400x. But really you one of very few people whos content stands out despite having very less videos.
I changed to 15T sprocket from Triumph Service center. Used Speed 400 front sprocket. Ride is much more pleasant in first two gears, easy to ride around city and much less vibrations 80kmph and above.
Hi harshit ! Your videos are really amazing. You give such honest reviews, which most of the youtuber do not do. For people who own scrambler x like me your videos are like a gem for us. Keep rocking lots of love from us. And please do not stop posting videos.Your videos help us a lot.❤ And requesting please make a video on how to maintain a scrambler x bike like how to Change oil, chain cleaning and chain lubrication, how to clean the air filter or when to change the air fliter, and when to change her sparks plug, when to change our break pads and tips to improve mileage and what and all are there things we need to do to maintain on our scrambler x Without it getting rusted and how to clean it. The target audience for these kind of a videos is huge. Most of the triumph owners depend on the truimph showroom, for these basic things. So if you could make a clear cut video on these kind of things, it will be useful for you as well as us. Thank you
This is amazing motivation. Sincere thanks for the recognition. I love your suggestion but truth be told, I'm not knowledgeable enough to add value to this topic right now. I'll have to consider this in the future when I'd think I have valuable perspective to share. Currently, I'm writing my review about how Triumph is the best and most unbeatable bike in this segment for likely 80% of our junta. What do you think?
No, I'd say sprocket is the opportunity to move the vibrations issue from ~85kmph to about ~95 or 100kmph. It doesn't reduce vibrations. But the air filter genuinely reduces vibrations (although I haven't scientifically measured it). Both complement each other, get both if you can. But if you'd like to prioritise then sprocket first and air filter later.
I'll probably not make one on the topic unless there's genuine interest. But I'll put in this comment in here if it will help you. Good things; Decent space, ease of access for small items, versatile (on the fly backpack convertible etc), mounting is rock solid, looks good (subjective). Not so good things; Mounting not intuitive, branding too loud, gets real dirty real quick (but I guess they now are selling a cover too), no place to go and feel bags when you are in the market (which makes me doubt aftersales but I'm not sure about that), the double D rings feel like low quality (but they have been working well so far so again just speculation).
Triumph has intentionally messed up this bike by giving 14T sprocket and those soggy front breakpads in the name of off road centricity. It totally isn't working out as they thought and are becoming a pain point. Almost every customer in the overseas have changed the sprocket and pads. Hope they listen and implement this changes factory fitted in the next iteration.
Hey. Unfortunately no I'd not be the best person to answer this. I dont notice FE, not even on the console. One should expect it to go up by 2 or so km per litre, but I'm afraid we'll need a source to verify any claim.
They changed it for me, yes. I got the sprocket from KTM and handed it over to them, they swapped it. This is for Gurgaon, the way I understand Triumph service is a hit or a miss, try at yours. :)
Hello Harshit, I also own Hness 350 since 3yrs now and done 42k kms. I have taken it to Ladakh, Spiti, Zanskar and sach pass. I also use it a lot for my daily office commute. As such, I m not facing any major issues in the Hness but now having slight itch to change it and m lot more inclined towards Scram 400x. My style of riding is relaxed with h’way cruising around 85-90kmph. Plz advise accordingly. Thanks bro.
Hello there a fellow Hness owner, and I got the chance to drive my buddy’s bike Scram400x for a month and I must say it’s one hell of a bike and the suspension is just too good. As iam also looking to upgrade iam considering the speed 400 and the guerilla 450 mainly for the ease of handling and seat comfort,Since Scrambler is very tall and hard to manuever in traffic plus the pillion seat is 💔
You have ridden it quite a lot. Happy riding! :) When I moved from Honda to this bike, some thoughts came to my mind; 1. Triumph somewhat feels like a bigger bike. And it looks better in my opinion, especially with touring luggage. When touring, I never took a 2nd look towards my CB350RS with a Rynox tail bag on it. The triumph is a killer in this department in my opinion (for my frame). 2. Triumph heats substantially more. This aspect might affect you if you take your bike to office. 3. Triumph has much shorter gearing (from the factory) but it’s still good in masking speeds (like the Honda, loved this aspect of it). 4. One of the biggest changes was suspension. And this was a really good feel. When I did Spiti - I was taken aback by how easy my job was with the Triumph. 5. Triumph HAS TORQUE! I have fairly torquey machines in my garage and Triumph was still able to make me smile like a child. Espc when on the highways, Honda is no match for the Triumph. Note that I am not saying CB350 is slow, just saying that the torque rush isn’t ever felt on it. 6. Triumph is more DIY friendly if you like that aspect. 7. Triumph is vibey! After all the reviews I had seen online I was disappointed to move from CB350 to all the vibrations. Speed to speed, if you want to cruise at 80 or 90kmph be ready to be disappointed with the stock Scrambler400x, because that’s exactly where vibrations start. 8. Lastly, Triumph is easy to scram on, expectedly. I have probably started doing higher average speeds than on my CB350 because of low end torque + suspension + saddling + higher BHP. You will not need to slow down often. But note that the characteristics of the Triumph brought the young me out, so my riding personality also changed. If you think you’d still be riding laid back, these changes will not be as pronounced for you as they were for me.
I didnt feel much loss of acceleration to be honest. In bumper to bumper, the only change you'll notice is that first gear is now to be used. Earlier, the bike's 2nd gear was short enough to pull it from standstill.
Can you please throw some light on the pillion comfort. I'm stuck in between hness and scrambler 400x, my purpose is regular office, city and occasional long rides with pillion. Also does the engine heat is annoying for rider and pillion (for instance I'm using gt650 but this vehicle is heating like hell for both rider and pillion also pillion is not comfortable)?. Thanks in advance.
@harshit_chugh I mean you captured good footage of Spiti..from what seems to be during the snowfall season. So in case you have enough scenes documented you can at least make a cinematic type travel video if not episode wise vlogs.
Short answer is my use case changed. When buying the cb350 I didn't expect I'll be touring two times a year and would start wanting to do a little bit of offroading. The long answer will also include my opinion that the Honda lacked character for me, I cannot really explain this in detail but I just quickly got over the characteristics of the engine, within a few weeks. Example; Within 6 weeks I knew I wouldn't be able to keep it for 3+ years. While with the triumph in 6 months now, I'm liking it more than the last day. Just to be clear, its a good bike. But I think it is possible many people may outgrow it quickly.
I don't know how to get the sprocket. Went to KTM they spewed some BS about taking the whole Chainset which costs ~4000. Also Hyderabad Triumph service center said they won't replace it. Again BS. Do you mind sharing how to get the Sprocket?
I got it from KTM service center here in Gurgaon, along with the adjustable levers from the KTM bikes. 🥳 Try another KTM service, they usually sell it over the counter, go there in person if you can and be friendly. I had enquired at my Triumph service center also a few times but they didn't have it in stock. On the day I took it to them for installation, they mentioned they just got it in stock. From what I'm understanding, Triumph service experience is a hit or a miss. For anyone reading this, pls know the folks at Gurgaon are absolutely brilliant!
I would like to but I dont know what exactly am I buying from them. I've texted them to understand more details about the product and will check if I can have it for trial / review. I'm not a full throttle guy so I'm not sure how beneficial it will be for me. At this point, I'm wanting a good aftermarket exhaust rather than ecu tuning (want more fun, not more power). There are literally no good options for the triumph 400s in India. AEW launched a slip-on and put it on their insta but damn look at that finishing 🤕🤕
Brother you can easily get it from Triumph itself. Speed 400 comes with 15 teeth sprocket by default. And warranty issues with sprocket change. Sprocket cost is Rs 251.
Its a scrambler its work is to scramble through the bad roads and dirt with the grunt it has. That is the one big reason why scrambler put smile on the face everytime and reason why you bought it. This bike is meant for soft offroads, broken roads of city and mountains. And for highways if 120 kmph touring speed works for you then it is good Highway machine too. Get a long windscreen and you are all sorted. Here is windscreen. Enjoy 😊. ua-cam.com/video/8iFSuC-Bwoo/v-deo.htmlsi=0OuUSXGn0GKIyJEi

Keep uploading in future best wishes to you 😇
really liked the way you discribed it I am impressed with your content thank for wonderful time
Clear and to the point video..
Talking only about vibrations, can we say that 15T sprocket is a great alternative to Air filter ?
No, I'd say sprocket is the opportunity to move the vibrations issue from ~85kmph to about ~95 or 100kmph. It doesn't reduce vibrations. But the air filter genuinely reduces vibrations (although I haven't scientifically measured it).

Great hack Harshit!! Thanks, I will try it out on my duke too
I would love to see a video on your rahgear rackless system - full review and mounting...

Thanks this helps a fair bit
Being a honda highness owner I got my answer in below comment thank you anna❤❤🎉🎉
I agree bike is bit too harsh with engine bracking and yes would definitely give it a try
You should. I hated the bike for that, its far better now.
cB350 RS or Scram 400x?
i want to use it for both city and touring, which one will be better?

Any changes in mileage after the sprocket upgrade?
I didn't measure, but theoretically should have gone up. 😊
What about speed 400 ?
Its frustrating between 80-100. So i always ride above 100 in the sweet spot
any change in mileage?
Tried changing spark plug to iridium ones?
Would love to see diy
Ordered weeks ago, still yet to receive. 😢
why did you sell this for the cb350?
Which Air filter you've installed on scram 400x?
Hey Harshit: Can you tell the mileage after having installed the 15T sprocket.
Hey. Unfortunately no I'd not be the best person to answer this. I dont notice FE, not even on the console.
One should expect it to go up by 2 or so km per litre, but I'm afraid we'll need a source to verify any claim.
Thanks, mate. I agree. Do you recommend installing this for better performance?
It is good if you tour or not a late upshifter. If you like outright acceleration then this will make matters worse. 😊
@@harshit_chugh sorry, I should have said mileage, instead of performance. I like to ride calmly.
i think it's drinking more fuel with 15T, what do you think?
Highly unlikely. Are you measuring the same way? Did you give enough kms to both pre and post? Is your use case at avg speed
bhai merko khali itna batade vibrations or buzz kabse chalu ho jati hai ???? and are those bearable???
How to shift to an aftermarket air filter without affecting the warranty?
Bro, have you installed handle bar raisers? Is the seating posture comfortable and What is your height if you don't mind!!
No, I don't have risers installed.
Yes, comfortable for me.
I'm 5.7.
Will Triumph Service Centre help you change the Sprocket? Like if we ask them to put speed 400s sprocket on Scrambler?
They changed it for me, yes. I got the sprocket from KTM and handed it over to them, they swapped it. This is for Gurgaon, the way I understand Triumph service is a hit or a miss, try at yours. :)
Yes, they do and that’s what did in my scrambler.
Bro 14t on scram due to long profile tyre on scram compare speed 400 to componset taller gear ratio. btw nice review 👍
Does it affect the mileage ?
You mentioned you got an after market air filter...plsnshare details
I have a video on it. 😊
Also use Motul 300 V2 and liqui moly Mos2 for better result
Whats your luggage setup. I can see saddle bags in the thumbnail, which brand are those and are you using saddle stay
Side bags are from Rahgear, rackless system bags so no saddle stay. The bag on the seat is a carbonado modpac 30L.
Looks good, works well. 💪
I experience majority of vibes between 90 to 110. Will the sprocket change solve this issue ?
It will move them from 90 to about 105 and beyond.
With an air fitler that I'm using, I have no vibration issues until 105 or 110 at cruising RPMs.
@@harshit_chughHi Harshit, at what RPM are you touching 100 now, on my scram I am touching 100 at around 6K RPM

How comfortable is this bike on higher speeds , likely above 120 km ? Does it stress the engine ?
No stress I have speed 400
The top speed is 160 as per speedo, so 120 is no issue.
