I would just like to point out for anyone who may be new, there is a type of very, very soft vinyl which used to be commonly called silicone vinyl. It wasn't actually silicone. At first it was marketed as a mixture of the two, until people caught on and realized that you cannot blend those two materials because they will destroy each other. This marketing was done by reputable producers of dolls and kits, by the way, not scammers. These days, it's called by other names, such as Ashton Drake's Real Touch vinyl, or the LDC Softline reborn kits, or Flex Touch vinyl from Paradise Galleries. Super soft kits like these might be a good option for someone who wants that softness but can't afford silicone dolls, because in its texture, it's very much like some of the firmer silicones such as dragon skin. You also don't have the need for powdering and such, although you also don't get the fully open mouth. Then again, not all silicone babies have that either, although most do at this point. Sorry for the long comment. I hope this helps someone. No one should ever have to be scammed.

FlexTouch vinyl is also much more durable against rips and tears than silicone, and doesn't require powdering because it is still soft to the touch like GentleTouch vinyl. I think you can do anything. People always figure out how to put things together that we think shouldn't be together.

Its been an uphill BATTLE , ive been scammed twice out of over $2000 now and i dont know what to do anymore. If I bought a doll, hand painted that minor scuffs off on bottom of feet/ hands, its squishy on the hands and legs + arms, especially the ears, but the face is firm and not squishable, rather hard to, what is that considered? She's an avatar reborn doll that does not take pacifiers, as in her face is pretty stiff and has glass eyes. She also has movable individual toes and fingers

There actually is such thing as silicone vinyl. Its a perfect blended mix of both materials, and it is soft like silicone, but hard like vinyl. Ashton drakes and some paradise galleries are made out of this. Maybe its not exactly the materials they say it is, but it definately is soft and squishy like silicone, but hard and sturdy like vinyl. I have some dolls like this and they are very nice quality. But maybe they use some other material in their vinyl like rubber or something to make them this way, since silicone and vinyl are not compatible. I think they just include silicone in the name because it is squishy.
Actually paradise Galleries calls it “Silicone-like Flex touch vinyl” Because it’s flexible and soft like silicone but it’s not silicone. The 2 materials can not be blended together.

They are not that expensive! $88 for a cloth doll, and $99 for a silicone, in usa dollars for 20" babies. They are all painted. I don't "get" the high prices? maybe this video is a few years old, and this is when they first came out.

Yep, any site claiming their dolls are “silicone vinyl” are scam sites. The prices are usually too good to be true, also. Don’t trust these sites. Only go to reputable reborn artists found on Etsy or reborns.com. Do your research before you buy!
So I'm new to reborn collecting and I like both silicone and vinyl dolls but I have a really small space to be able to keep them what would happen if they touch. Could it hurt the dolls in some way because I don't want my new silicone baby to get messed up in some way. And I would like to take them in public but I only have one travel system so is it ok if a I have the vinyl doll in the car seat one day but put my silicone doll in the next? Or should they have completely different furniture and carseats? I can keep their clothes separated just fine but what about furniture and space wise? I just don't want to make the mistake of ruining my babies. I already messed up the coloring on the first baby I got. I went and got him a outfit at walmart and it was a onesie pants and a jacket and it was navy blue but I didn't wash it and I was so excited I put it right on my baby. And then a family emergency came up so he had to be packed away so he was left in that outfit for months. And when I opened up the box and took him out again his arms and legs are now a blue green. How do I fix it since I am also a new reborn artist. If I strip his paint will that come off with it? Or will I have to do some major color correction with the paint to try to get it to the original vinyl color?
I’m not sure about the silicone and vinyl touching. As for stripping the paint it may take the stain off with it but it’ll also take the paint off so the doll will be pale white with no color there. You could try putting Benadryl peroxide cream on the stains and then leaving the doll out in the sun but I must warn you that will also remove the paint I’m so so sorry this has happened to you and I wish I could help but I don’t know how 😰

My first baby the one that got stained is the clyde asleep and I was planning on repainting him anyways because I'm going to be getting the clyde awake so he can have a twin brother! But thank you so much for the tips! I have been watching your videos for a while now and I really enjoy your content! I'm just kinda scared that the green blue is really stuck in the vinyl and that it won't come off. If it doesn't it will be a bit difficult to get masons and his brothers vinyl to match so I can paint them together so they will really look like twins.

If you put powder on the nipple of the pacifier it makes it easier to put in the silicone baby’s mouth

Flex touch and gentle touch are vinyl but they’re soft like silicone.

Megan Kraft like I tried to explain in the video there is NO such thing as silicone vinyl there are 2 different materials that don’t mix together. Companies that use the phrase “silicone vinyl” are trying to scam you most of the time

Yep, any site claiming their dolls are “silicone vinyl” are scam sites. The prices are usually too good to be true, also. Don’t trust these sites. Only go to reputable reborn artists found on Etsy or reborns.com. Do your research before you buy!

So I'm new to reborn collecting and I like both silicone and vinyl dolls but I have a really small space to be able to keep them what would happen if they touch. Could it hurt the dolls in some way because I don't want my new silicone baby to get messed up in some way. And I would like to take them in public but I only have one travel system so is it ok if a I have the vinyl doll in the car seat one day but put my silicone doll in the next? Or should they have completely different furniture and carseats? I can keep their clothes separated just fine but what about furniture and space wise? I just don't want to make the mistake of ruining my babies. I already messed up the coloring on the first baby I got. I went and got him a outfit at walmart and it was a onesie pants and a jacket and it was navy blue but I didn't wash it and I was so excited I put it right on my baby. And then a family emergency came up so he had to be packed away so he was left in that outfit for months. And when I opened up the box and took him out again his arms and legs are now a blue green. How do I fix it since I am also a new reborn artist. If I strip his paint will that come off with it? Or will I have to do some major color correction with the paint to try to get it to the original vinyl color?
I’m not sure about the silicone and vinyl touching.
As for stripping the paint it may take the stain off with it but it’ll also take the paint off so the doll will be pale white with no color there. You could try putting Benadryl peroxide cream on the stains and then leaving the doll out in the sun but I must warn you that will also remove the paint

My first baby the one that got stained is the clyde asleep and I was planning on repainting him anyways because I'm going to be getting the clyde awake so he can have a twin brother! But thank you so much for the tips! I have been watching your videos for a while now and I really enjoy your content! I'm just kinda scared that the green blue is really stuck in the vinyl and that it won't come off. If it doesn't it will be a bit difficult to get masons and his brothers vinyl to match so I can paint them together so they will really look like twins.
