And something I just learned after 6 years is I've been locking my car on the door handles with a tap. Turns out that does not engage the alarm. The only way to engage the alarm is a two click on the lock button on the fob.
Also if you hold your lock button and your unlock button down at the same time, you'll see the drive lights flash... This enables and disables the horn honk when you lock the doors.
I also found out when you disable the horn honk you also disable the alarm.
So I've unplugged the high horn, and they make sure my alarm is on. Now every time I leave the car I push twice on the lock button on the key fob.

Greetings from a canuck in Pennsylvania! I have a 2017 MKZ w/ Driver's Package, dark gray & got the windows tinted. The seats are ebony & ivory, with the white ivory making a U-shaped curve on the seatbacks & seat pad. It looks very slick. I purchased it in 2019 used w/ 29K miles (46K clicks) for about half what original MSRP was (~$28K U.S.). I have the 3.0T AWD and I gotta tell ya, it is a total blast to drive. I actually enjoy driving again! Hearkens back to my '89 T-Bird SC 5 speed, but with almost double the power. My wife actually gives me grief: "You drive differently since you got this car..."
What makes mine unique is that there is no panoramic sunroof. I'm tall (6'3" or 190 cm) but most of my height is in my torso, so it's HEADROOM vs legroom where I get bit when buying cars. With no sunroof, there's actually 1-2" (2-5 cm) more headroom, which is why I purchased this car. I was dead-set on getting a Taurus SHO, but the headroom despite being a supposedly larger car was pitiful. Plus there's nothing worse than the rear view mirror becoming a major blind spot for traffic at your 2 o'clock angle. And believe it or not, the Fusion platform had more headroom, which led me to the MKZ when I went shopping.
My poker buddies no longer razz me about driving a "grandpa" car. Previously, I'd been driving an '05 Montego. It was also AWD & tinted windows, but still couldn't lose the "grandpa car" moniker...
What I love most is this is a sleeper car. BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, etc... wonder what I'm rocking under the hood when they get a good look at my taillights vs seeing me in their rear view mirror... Plus the mileage isn't all that bad, if I'm not overly aggressive on the gas pedal: it can sniff 29 miles/gal on the highway (12.3 k/L).

Thanks for the comment. Glad you love the car. I really want to get me a nice 3.0 but with the amount of driving I do, I’m worried about long term reliability. Turbos and direct injection is not a good combo for long term reliability in my opinion. But it’s definitely a sleeper vehicle for sure. Gotta love it. The MKS and the Taurus share the same platform and I agree, for a big car like that the interior is on the tighter side. I wonder how the continental compares.

@@321verykindi had a 2018 that was my daily driver from 2019-2021. 3.0 AWD TT reserve with most options except driver’s package and revel ultima. Purchased it with 19,5XX miles and when i lost it in an accident, it had 101,XXX miles. Only issue it had was a bent strut due to one of the many pot holes that were hit and slight leak from an axle seal in the rear differential. Other than that, the car drove exactly the same.
I was younger at the time of ownership so maintenance intervals were starting to get missed past 70k or 80k. When i eventually got around to them the car enjoyed the fresh fluids and kept going. One of the most reliable cars i ever owned.
My only major grip was i wish i had the 18’s not the 19’s. The low profiles handled great but at one point i was using the car for work and all of those miles made me run through tires pretty fast and the 19” are harder to find on hand and were more expensive.
100% will own another when I get a bit more financially stable. To my knowledge, the 2020 awd models all come with the torque vectoring. Was hoping to see if that’s true or can be verified but i’ve yet to come across the information.
Anywho, if you’re worried about reliability, i say i wouldnt worry too much. And lets just say my car most definitely did not have a easy life but it always never left me fully stranded.

I tell you who doesn't know about the Lincolns, the dealers who sell them.
In 2017 I had questions galore about the MKZ hybrid.
My first question was when the gas tank runs out of gas does the car still operate on the battery system?
I was told by the Lincoln "head engineer" (he was a mechanic) "I don't know".
I bought the car. 2017 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Reserve.
The car goes exactly 32 km after the gas tank reads zero.
I watch my gas countdown and when it hits zero I start the trip meter.
I've done it a few times.
You get warnings on the dash approaching 32 km after the fuel runs out, and the control module steps down into limp mode (twice) and keeps warning you to go buy gas.
I later phoned Lincoln Canada and through a series of phone jumps got one of the real engineers and I asked him "why do you limp mode the hybrids at 32k after the fuel runs out"
He said if you were to run on the battery only you would severely deplete it's longevity.
So if anyone wants to hack the ECM you could disable the 32k limp mode and drive that car forever without plugging it in and without buying gas.
I've got 44k on the car now. I had the brakes looked at last week. I was told the front in the back have more than 80% on them.
This car is built like a tank.
I've got the 3 code in my VIN number so it was put together in Mexico.
Have nothing but praise for the quality and fitment of this car.
If and when the hybrid battery needs to be changed I'm going to do it myself.
    It's not a complicated process.
And once I rebuild the pack I just balance the charges and it'll be good to go forever.

      @321verykind  9 місяців тому

Very tank like for sure. I dont usually run my car that low in fuel but thats good to know.

Hi there! I have a Black 2017 LincolnMKZ Hybrid, and it's the best car ever!! Great gas milage, and just a great car for driving in LA. I was wondering if you had a hybrid as I have a question about using the a/c for long periods of time, like for camping etc. I remember one night I slept in her during winter, however out here it was maybe around 50 degrees that night, and I kept the engine running so the heat could come on and off. The other day while it was around 96 degrees and running the ac, the engine eventually cut off, is there a way to by pass this feature?

    • @321verykind
      @321verykind  Рік тому +1

Hi, glad you are having a great time with you MKZ. What do you mean the engine shuts off? The engine starts and stops to keep the hybrid battery charged. This is not like a older civic or prius system where when the engine shuts off, the ac stops running. Even if the engine stops, the ac should still run until the hybrid battery is depleted on the MKZ

I've always washed and waxed ALL painted surfaces that I can see maybe that's why my 15 year old Honda Accord EXL has zero rust on it when I traded it and I live in snow and salt country. I bought a 2018 Lincoln MKZ Sedan Shop Service Repair Manual for estimating service cost. From 2017 - 2020, Lincoln (Ford really) modified the AWD PTU, adding a service plug and somewhat of a heat barrier. The normal service schedule is 60K. I do not believe that for one minute. Based on past history I had mine done at 25K and will keep that schedule for as long as I have this car. It's a beautiful vehicle, I love it.

I just bought a 2015 this year and people saw it and thought it was a 2024. After I bought it I started seeing a lot of people buying it in my area. It didn’t fully catch on yet but the design was a huge home run probably the most attractive and classy front end of all cars in the market. But the back looks like a regular car so I never see people pull in forward to a parking space but back in with it probably because the front end is so wow! And the back end not even luxury Level. The following Lincoln front ends don’t even stand out in the luxury car market until the navigator with the glowing cross.
The previous navigators also lack on rear and design and actually look bad. They need to work on their rear and or get another lead designer because their back ends have been weak to bad for quite a few models and years. I’m not sure how the rear and of navigators took so long to stop looking terrible.
