Always good to have a recap Jose. I've added your Pro 100 refilling tutorials to my favourites so I'll be able to find them easily when I eventually buy my own Pro 100 😉
Thanks. Just so you know I still have your Panorama to Mail. We just had a substantial snow storm that hit is this morning and I never got out of the house. I will hang on to it till I return from my Mom's Birth Day visit and I will ship you the photo this Monday!
Where can you get the Canon printers for as cheap as you were saying? I know this video is a few years old but I'm thinking about upgrading my Canon MX870 to a better-quality printer for photos. What high-end Canon printer gives you the best bang for your buck? Thanks for all your informative videos!
Thank you for the great video. Can we refill the original OEM CLI 42's cartridges and resetting the chips? We would just add ink. Would that be a problem for the yellow ink cartridge. If yes what would the problem be with the yellow? Thank you.
Hi! Thank you for the tips! I managed to clean the print head as well as all the cartridges, but after refilling, I noticed that the original filled cartridges are leaking... the ink is flowing... and as a result, my yellow cartridge, for example, is stained. I will redo the entire cleaning process, but do you have any idea why the cartridges are leaking?
Thank you for your clear video. Wanted to know how easy it is before posting with the money buying the printer. I wish in England the printers were practically free, your looking at around £500.
That is no longer the case. Those deals were promotional offers just to get everybody out there to buy one. Then the shock of the cost of inks kicks in. Lucky it is able to be modified for refilling. That will not be the case from now on though.
why do i have to replace the OEM tanks with PC ink one by one just in the beginning? wouldnt it be doing a purge cycle every time then too? that would be wasteful too right? can't i just replace all of them right from the beginning once one oem ink cartridge goes low? what is the purpose of doing it one by one when i'll be replacing the entire set later anyway? if there is a reason, id love to know! i'm going to be doing this refill method on my canon ip8720. very nervous. but excited. thank you for your videos!
The purpose it to begin with as little remnant OEM ink in the cart. Do you have too? Of course not. You can top them all off after you modify them. How fast can you mod 8 carts?
@@cheo1949 haha probably not that fast considering i’ve never done it! :P one at a time it is. that’s prolly going to be less anxiety producing as well
Hi Jose! Great videos! I have 2 sets of OEM modified carts ready to go, for the set that is not being used, is it necessary to cover the front vent at all during storage until they are required? Thanks!
Hi Jose, disregarding the color management (which will have to be recalibrated after each cart switch) is it wise to replace the first set of OEM inks with PC carts as the OEM inks go low one by one? The idea being to not waste the OEM ink. Or is it better to just remove the whole OEM set as soon as the first goes low and replace with new PC set altogether?
Some folks say yes and some say no. Me, I just topped the carts off after modification with the PC inks. When low, the sponge still has about 30-40% of the total initial volume. So you will be only adding the other 60-70% to top off. The yellow will be the new modded flushed replacement you get with the kit. In the beginning , do one at a time till they are all done. You might as well also run the OEM yellow till empty wing it will not be refilled. You might want to watch the other cli-42 videos for other options and methods.
Thanks for another great video Jose!! 2 questions that came to mind. If i have 2 sets of carts how long can i store the spare refilled carts on my shelf before the ink will start clogging or will the ink clog? Also towards the end of the video i heard you mentioned that carts can be refilled 10-12 times. What happens after that. Should i throw the carts away?
Jose Rodriguez Thanks! And how about the part when you mentioned thay carts can be refilled 10 times. Are they supposed to be thrown after 10 times or flushed?
I just pulled that number out of the air. But after that many refills it's probably a good idea to flush, treat the sponge and you should back in business. Remember these carts are NOT supposed to be refilled. Factory filled carts are done with vacuum filling machines and we are doing it by comparatively crude methods. It's amazing it even works 3-4 times. Think of it this way, you will about $7 per 10 refills. That would be 10x $15 or $150. Having to replace a cart after 10 fillups, you are still way ahead of the game.
Hello Jose. Thank you very much for your videos, they are really helpful and I really appreciate your time on this. One question, with the "32oz LIMITED EDITION Refill Kit" , is the yellow cartridge fix still a must do? Also, with this kit, do you still recommend having a second kit? It seems that this one can be easily refilled as soon as warnings popup? Best Regards
Buy the newest refill before they run out! They come with full modded and flushed OEM CLI-42 carts you just fill directly. If you use your carts then yes the yellow cart swap is a must!
Mr Rodriguez, with the newest refill kit, what is the strategy to replace the inks ? My printer is new so when I receive the first warning for a black for example, do I replace only that unit or I need to replace all units together ? Thank you.
Jose, I am about to replace my carts in my pro100, and I still have a little over 1/2 of the original canon yellow ink in my original canon cart which is part of the replacement set. Can I just reset this cart and put it into the printer so I don't waste all of this oem ink? No, I don't intend to put Precision Color Yellow in on top of what's left in the original oem cart. Thanks so much. Barry
Why would you want to reset the yellow cart again? Just Allow the original yellow cart to reach empty and that takes place replace it with the replacement one filled with PC yellow. Run One cleaning cycle to flush out any remnants of OEM Yellow and you are set. If you reset the OEM partially full cart it will think it is full! Why would want to run the chance to run the cart dry and harm the print head?
I watched a lot of your posted content. Decided to go for the Pro 100S. But what i'm wondering is. How does the printer know that the purge pads are saturated? Is there a sensor or does the firmware keep track of it how many times the printer did purge cycles?
Yes the firm ware recorded. The driver / firmware calculates the volume of ink being wasted in cleaning cycles and ink purges such as when installing a cart or carts. An electronic counter will continue to add value until a certain number is reached. It is not physically measuring actual ink volume but it is still pretty accurate. Unlike most EPSONs you can not reset it unless you have the Service tool and the printer allows you to enter service mode which most newer canon printers do not.
My photo magenta cart is the only cart that drips with some delay rather than the drip, drip, drip time sequence. It's more like 1(2,3,4), drip, 1 (2,3,4) drip timing sequence. This is when I test the flow of the carts when removing the plug and the bottom clip. My cart is original OEM CLI-42 refilled with precision colors to the proper levels. Is some delay normal? Thanks ahead.
After you remove the new cart that is low, can you just add the new ink on top of the old ink? I guess so except the yellow. How low is low when replacing the cart? I do not have a printer, do you see a percentage or dose an idiot warning light come on?
Low is as soon as you get the warning. That means the optical prism is exposed to air. Refill right then. If you print more then the sponge begins to lose saturation. Not good.
Unless you can do them in a few minutes. Not so. Besides you can not have the printhead must sitting there without carts attached. Not too good for the inlet ports of the PH.
The "Limited Edition" kits comes with inks Carts bottles and Reseter. You cannot break it up. It is the only "Kit" that will come with ORIGINAL Carts already modified and flushed ready to fill.

No. No long supposedly needed but beside the yellow problem existed only on CLI42 YELLOW nothing else.

Hi Jose! Great videos! I have 2 sets of OEM modified carts ready to go, for the set that is not being used, is it necessary to cover the front vent at all during storage until they are required? Thanks!
If you don't plan to use then for a few months then I would tape the vents. Don't forget to remove the tape before you use them.

As long as it takes you to out it to work. No ink does not clog or coagulate.

Mr Rodriguez, with the newest refill kit, what is the strategy to replace the inks ? My printer is new so when I receive the first warning for a black for example, do I replace only that unit or I need to replace all units together ? Thank you.
One at a time until you collect two full sets then you do full sets at a time. I covered that process in this video.

Then it is not flowing sufficiently. I would not install it. No that is not normal.
@@cheo1949 Would you suggest flush out the cart with the proper drying time. will that do the trick? or just get a new cart?
I feel like I'm going crazy, how would i fill the hole I drilled?
If you botched it you can use silicone caulk. Or aluminum tape. Is that why you want to fill the hike you drilled?
After you remove the new cart that is low, can you just add the new ink on top of the old ink? I guess so except the yellow.

Oh and yes, except for yellow you can refill right on top of OEM with PC.
Once you have a fully modified set, is it possible to refill all 8 carts and put them back within the time the print head is centered?
Yes...you have approx. 8 minutes to reset and fill - but it is much easier to have a second set.
Unless you can do them in a few minutes. Not so. Besides you can not have the printhead must sitting there without carts attached. Not too good for the inlet ports of the PH.
Second set!!! You will not regret it.
Hi Master, I have a question ?
I had the Reset, ink. I have not cartridges.
So should I buy this $199 ?
The "Limited Edition" kits comes with inks Carts bottles and Reseter. You cannot break it up. It is the only "Kit" that will come with ORIGINAL Carts already modified and flushed ready to fill.
Jose Rodriguez Thank you so much Master, I will buy this.
