As a Steel player from 1950s until 2016 I recieved my greatist compliment ever from Kitty Wells during one of her shows at the Forum show place here in Wichita Ks. It was at John & Bonnyes Dance Hall in the 1960s; her hit record at that time was "This White Circle On My Finger"; as she left to go off stage she bent over, tapped me on my right shoulder and said " You did a mighty fine job on that steel guitar." I nearly popped all the buttons off my shirt. I'll never forget that. RIP Kitty!
Kitty, had such a great voice and lovely singer. You don't realise how important they were in the our early days of life. GODBLESS you Kitty RIP FOREVER. ELIZABETH ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Jimmy Rogers, the Carter Family, if it was not for these indivs gathered here we would not have country music as we know it. New singers come every day, but the roots live on for ever.
I was 19 when I saw Kitty and Johnny live in Milwaukee, they were so kind, signed autographs for everyone and talked to all the fans. It was a magical night I'll never forget.
I'm not sure but I guessing she was bit shy on stories. But I bet had she'd told a few they'd been great.. I seen another video where her son and husband was on the stage, and I got impression she wasn't comfortable with her son around. IDK js
I watch and record Country's Family Reunion every time I can. In this video Skeeter Davis is seated to right [as viewed] of Kitty Wells. One of the more touching songs was "If We Never Meet Again This Sde of Heaven" by Skeeter on this program. She was battling breast cancer at that time. She died from this disease several years later. One of many impressive performances was Wolverton Mt by Merle Kilgore [he wrote this song]. He also describes the story behind the song.
My God...Her voice is the same as it was when she was younger....Just like Jean Shepard....You CANNOT beat this music, by any stretch of the imagination.
I was lucky enough to see a tour that Bill Anderson lead with Kitty, Johnny, George Hamilton IV Bill, Gene Sheperd, Can't recall the exact year, but Johnny was helped onstage, but he really came to life at the mic, it was a wonderful show, and they all signed autographs after the show. I'm in Atlantic Canada so we don't get many shows, nor the stars like the above mentioned. I have all the autographs and was completely star struck bur they were all so nice, and somewhat shocked as I was probably the only person in the place under 30 years old...lucky enough to have been exposed to true country music and some of the greatest stars of all as a youngster, ncluding Kitty Wells. Bill Anderson is the only one of the tour still with us now, as time does fly. R.I.P to all and good health and prayers to Bill. Thanks for the music.
This is a reunion special, just like any family reunions not, everyone can always be there, other pressing matters have to come first. Many people also don’t realize, these older country musicians still tour just like any genre of music and still if they aren’t on the road touring they do smaller venues. There were some that actually would used to come to our local high school to do a concert on a smaller scale. So, that’s why they made a ton of these specials and, it’s the same on the others, that and, as they done more some couldn’t be there cause, they had passed.
This is one of the many reunion specials. They concentrate on those that are living in country music, not of those that have passed, it isn’t to discount them. But, at some point in life it can’t always be about that, cause, it has to be about the present and, the ones that are present, like in this clip are getting older, you got to give it a minute and let them have there time to shine. I mean when, you go to a family reunion it’s to be more about the hear and now, you go to a family reunion to have not be fun and not to always have sadness. Just like anything else everything has it’s time and place. It’s not to always to discount the past, but, sometimes it can’t always be about those who’ve passed, life goes on. It’s not a crime to just take a break and focus on the present even when, a bunch of country music musicians get together, geez.
This song would have never have been recorded but for Hank Thompsons song the wild side of life! This song it wasn't God is the answer to the wild side of life. Check it out Hank Thompson the wild side of life then you will get a better understanding of this song.
