My ad was Fender Play literally dissing people who make guitar tutorials on UA-cam and saying to quit that for their app. Watch out Marty.
yeah I get that ad on every video now
Terry Profitt that ad is complete bull shit I’ve learned so much from UA-cam
I just used the app to tune my guitar! I am following Marty's tutorials and learning a lot. Marty's a true guitar hero.
Marty is senpai no way I’m gonna ditch him

easily the best instructional video on youtube. Other people seem to have forgotten what beginner means.
Welcome to episode 2 and today we will be learning how to play on a 12 string guitar! Now this is easy you’ll get it by the end of the video....
@@bringbacksavage8345 lol it's true though
Late but that's so true! They expect us to know all the possible riffs, and strumming methods like chill down
Yeah it's like most other videos assume you are a 15yo prodigy or already know a lot about playing a guitar. This video here gives you a quick and easy way of having fun playing guitar, without knowing how to play guitar. It's exactly what you need in the beginning to get into it. There will be always more time to learn everything by the book afterwards.

Love your name baba gonoush 😂
Are you even a guitar instructor if you don't throw in a few little bursts of freestyle to show off?
Being a guitar instructor doesn't mean showing off. They should first cover the basics for their students not to be overwhelmed and feel that guitar is hard to play. When the teacher show off, the tendency is that the student would ask the teacher "how to play that?" and end up frustrated because he/she cannot do does things.
@@klarencegarcia2238 show off small easy things they can learn, like when your done for the day, show them something to attempt. but make sure it leads into the next days lesson. that was how I got taught and constantly had something to achieve when i went home and ended up practicing for another three hours.
@@klarencegarcia2238 uhhh i think he was joking 😅
@@dirtypotato3764 Exactly!
I've always enjoyed watching a guitar instructor throw in a few burst of freestyle- I find it inspiring, I see how powerful a musician is, and his skill, and I see what is definitely doable. He, is teaching me...the person who can do that, it makes me know I will be able to do the same, as I am being exposed to his style. Idk, to dislike your teacher for ultimately showing you what he can do- for enjoying playing his instrument, instead of appreciating his music, is kind of just basic jealousy to me...
Just got my first electric guitar. You are helping me understand so much. Thank you
After trying to get back into guitar for years after I gave up back in high school, I've learnt heaps in just two videos! Thanks Marty!
I’ve had my guitar for 5 years and never even plugged it in. Watched this guy yesterday and even one finger, one string has gotten me excited to carry on.
This is awesome. I just got my first electric guitar today and this is teaching me so much. I thought this was going to be long and gruesome learning. But this is fun, I can't put my guitar down.
As a beginner myself, the one warning I'd put out there to other new students is if you decide that you are going to play a lot in the very beginning you will quickly see why everyone says "5 minutes a day" and similar recommendations. Your fingers will hurt like hell and even blister (this is especially true with electric guitar) if you are trying to do long practice sessions at first. You need to allow yourself the time to build up calluses on your fingertips. This usually takes a couple of weeks. This was a surprisingly painful lesson I learned myself and thought I'd pass on!
Hello Marty, thank you for all you do. I'm 50 now and tried learning 16 years ago. There was just no one there. I'm glad to have found you. Stay healthy looking forward to the next lesson. I know I can watch it now but not going to rush. Usually watch the videos a few times before moving on.
"start with 5 minutes a day!" i got my guitar today and i've been playing for like an hour straight, my finger's gonna hurt but i don't care, this is so much fun

Ironic how the ad before the video was saying that people give up on guitar because they learn from youtube videos. And yet this is all you need. Good stuff👍🏻

Why pay an overpriced fine for a guitar lesson when you have an even more helpful person for free. MARTY!!!
Just started Marty's classes 3 days ago and I thank u marty...on lesson 2 and I've never picked up a guitar before...long way to go but spending anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hrs a night trying to get lesson 1 and 2 down..want it right...
😃Thanks!. I've tried to learn before but I like the way that Marty teaches! Might just get it this time around!
I picked up a 7 string yesterday for my first guitar and this is helping so much. I just forget that I have an extra string sometimes
Perfect lesson and good follow up on lesson 1. Really feel like i improve! For me its more how long can the neighbours stand me practising than me want to stop lol.
Peter Van der wal just get an amp with an headphone port and you will be the only one hearing it
It honestly seems a little overwhelming to play guitar. I’m still gonna go get one and start learning but it does seem like a daunting thing to learn.
Do it! Do it! Do it!
im on my second day learning guitar and music generally and im gonna tell you every step of it you light the darkness but its a really beautifull experience!!i dont see it as lessons see it more as like getting good at a sport or a game and learn theory from the start it will make it a lot easier if you understand whats happening
That's the best part of it! Cos once you get the hang of it you feel like you can do anything! :D
Play. Play every day. Play every day for a month. After a month, you'll not be so daunted. Play every day for a year. After a year, you'll be able to play. Play every day for five years, you'll be able to shred. Don't play every day, no play, no shred. One month, one year, fives years will pass one way or the other. SO, freaking play and in a year or so you'll be the Golden God of guitar playing. Just like everything in life, do. And jump in over your freakin head. Do.
My best advice, play songs you love, then play how you feel
Got my guitar like 10 years ago but never took it seriously and stopped playing. Came across your vids a couple days ago and got excited to pick it up again and actually learn. Got my guitar and amp out of storage and had a buddy properly set it up for me, now I'm good to go!

I always was that kid, that would start hitting random items , out of boredom, in order to create rhythm.
Now, when I have 3 notes - I have infinite amount of opportunities for rhythmes.
Thanks man, I have never had such joy in my life.
I love this lesson! I've been trying to self-learn guitar for over a year now and I feel like I'm making progress :D
i used to watch and learn from marty's acoustic lessons as a kid who just got his first guitar, now im back again for electric!
These are really helping and loving the journey thanks to you master Marty.
Very sharp, clear streaming and the SG is GREAT
To all the beginners at @5:10, There are two frets between each note, excepts the B and E. So for example the A string goes like this: A, Asharp, B, C, Csharp, D, Dsharp, E, F, Fsharp, G, Gsharp, A, etc. And the E string goes like this: E, F, Fsharp, G, Gsharp, A, Asharp, B, C, Csharp, D, Dsharp, E, etc.
Since the top string is an E, which doesn't have a sharp note, the first fret is an F. The A string, however, goes to an A sharp on the first fret.
See it as a piano, sometimes there isn't a black key to the right of the white one, that means that's a B or an E.
Once I learnt this, the guitar made alot more sense.
Sorry if I don't make sense, am a bit drunk. But if you need some explanation about the basics, just ask. I'll try :)
So you saying that that in between are half notes and you have to move like 2 frets over for a full change of note. And that there are exceptions to this interesting. Thank you for this knowledge drunk man
dude seriously is out here giving us FREE lessons. what a legend
Love it, I have always heard power chords were easy, but never learned how to do it. Thanks Marty
