So I just stumbled across your channel today and checked out your early videos and holy DooDoo, you're in Baldwinsville. I used to live about a mile from the locks. Yes, Alec Baldwin and all his clan are from around here. And where you were tied up for the night... yeah, my four year old daughter... we were fishing right there and she fell in... Cheers to the looper who came out of nowhere and grabbed her other arm! She turns 23 today. Thanks for the memory!
Just found your channel, I'm on e5 and I don't know your story or even your names yet. I know I'm a couple of years behind but I like to start at the begining. Good so far...
My home stomping grounds, everyone speeds on the canal, reason for the sign. A lot of the boats at winter harbor are great loopers, why theres some big ones. Great video thanks
According to the NY canals website, the canal speed limit from Cross Lake to Oneida Lake in 10 MPH. I'm guessing that is the reason for the interesting sign you noticed.
Wow I wonder how different it was back then compared to now! Seawind was built in 1978 and taken to the Cleveland Boat Show in early 1979 as their show boat. I wonder if you crossed close to her while traveling! The locks close at 5pm late in the season. Summer months I believe they are open until around 10pm.
Hi Guys, Just found your channel and love it.....I am looking at an Allied Seawind I (1973)...I heard they are so well built and was the first fiberglass sailboat to circumnavigate. Have yall sailed with it yet?
Hey Steve! Thanks for your comment and good luck with the purchase of you go through with it! Is it a seawind II? I think they were still building the first version in 1973. We have traveled 3000 miles aboard and sailed around 2000 of them. Anything that you read about their sail-ability and sea kindliness is true in my opinion! Very stoutly built boat, sails well in light air and this hull has the cutter rig which I prefer over the ketch. I did spend almost 6 years restoring her inside and out which included structural work because of maintenance neglect. 40-50 year old boats are usually a big project if the idea is to cruise blue water. In many ways I’ve restored this boat to better than original and so I will few very confident sailing her across oceans.
Just started watching vlogs- like your content! Question?- what is the height requirement and is there a cost to travel the erie canal? Thanks, i hoping you see this message bc the ep 4 was from a couple years ago.
The height limit off the water is around 15 feet because some of the bridges are fixed. Most that open on demand or on a schedule have much lower air drafts of around 5-10'
With how secure we got your mast before you left buffalo NY, I’m sure you would have had no problems had you actually ran into weather while crossing that lake. :) that thang wasn’t goin anywhere
Just started watching. Love the boat & your approach to shooting videos! I used to think yoga was just a 'work-out' routine. ua-cam.com/video/vHBc13ubS7A/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/OMgDnitTQzE/v-deo.html You of course are free to do what you choose. Just sharing the info/education on yoga. You guys seem like very nice people! All the best on your adventures!

Thank you for the information, Drew! Also glad to know that we never exceeded the speed limit 😂
Back in about 1978 I went through the Erie Canal in three days however I realized at that time the lock hours were longer than they are today

All caught up and waiting for my next video installment of the sea wind adventures! Where could you be now? 😂⛵
Another ones in the pipeline just have to finish it…! At this point we’re very far behind 🤣

It sure wasn’t! We secured it super well thanks brother 💪🏼

Please don’t strangle each other as it makes us sad…
Living on a small boat does feel cramped at times but we get along really well 😄
By the way, you’re absolutely nowhere near Canada in this particular video or at any point during Erie Canal. 🤪🤪🤪🤪
