The whole north wing of the palace was pretty much completed and look about the same as it does today before the fire of 1697. The foundations of the old castle "Tre Kronor" is still inside the walls of the north wing today. After the fire the palace church was moved to the south wing but Karl XI's gallery was pretty much complete and did survive the fire just like the whole north wing did.

Sweden had good economical and progressive devolpment after the WW2 because it was neutral during the war time. It didn't need to rebult its sociaty again like many European countries
