Great
The noise are house ghosts
Dawn works great for tight screws and bolts
Hi Steve, sounds like Fritz is back again.
Plumbing company Cess, Poole, and Drains can do plumbing with the water turned on.
Years to come!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Indeed, like $30 on Amazon for a cheap one. $50 for a decent one.
I'm in the process of replacing stems in a similar brass fixture. Rather than having a hex nut to remove stems, parallel flats are machined into the stem body. They provide a narrow shelf on which to grip with a wrench. To turn water on, either cold or hot, you lift the handle. To turn off, you press down. I removed the stem on the hot, right side. No problem. The cold, on the left would not budge. I was wondering, have any of you ever encountered such a fixture with the stem on the left reverse threaded? Since the two stems, in effect, operate as mirror images (since you lift to turn on, push down to turn off, on both sides) I thought this might make some sense. If that's not the case I guess I'll resort to a torch and heat up the faucet body.
Ours is leaking pretty bad, almost like it’s on but it isn’t and the sound is driving us insane. Its the hot water too.
What did you do to resolve the problem
@@tisasmile1616 had the landlord come fix it
I changed out one of those old cemet double sinks and that fucker was heavier than a VW..... had to break it up with a hammer to remove the old leaky tub..... pain in the ass it was....just breaking it up and removing it....
That’s a concrete sink….not soapstone. But you can use a piece of soapstone to sand them down before repainting. Have seen some other YT vids where the homeowner did that. We have one of those old concrete utility sinks in my grandparents old home. Unfortunately it has cracks in the basin. Not sure if it’s repairable or not. Probably ought to just replace it.
I hate trying to repair old crusty fixtures. Rather just replace half the shit I see in the field. Usually takes same amount of time. But you get a new product for a little more money.
Any crack repairs? On side and bottom drain cracks?
I love those porous soapstone sinks, they never stop smelling like stale urine
He probably wanted ebays fax number..
Do you happen to have any videos of you repairing the drain leaving this type of sink?
Basement is surprisingly clean compared to many.
Wow 😲
You good plumber to work on old slop sinks
I have this same sink in basement and they are worth a fortune...just keep it and use it: they don't make anything like this anymore. I have a huge porcelain or ceramic kitchen sink i have stored in basement. Parents bought this house in 1966 it was built in 1925
Whaddya mean, can't work on it with water on. I seen Larry, Moe, and Curly do it all the time.
A plumbing we will go
That is who he will call next time!
I am a cat man, But your dog is too adorable.
I went on ebay after watching your video and I havent seen any soap stone sink faucet that guy need too buy utility sink
You are a true professional. This customer was something else!
Don’t you just luv it Steve , when the client is hanging over your shoulder and knows it all ! We got the same in England 🏴
Government just handed him 1400, I think he can replace the faucet and sink... Or maybe Steve can give him a handout...
17:50 picture of that guy's old slippers
Have a great day everyone💜
Actually I disagree, soapstone sinks are getting very hard to find, I wouldn’t change it either. Why change the sink because the faucets leaking?
As long as it's not cracked or the drain isn't rusted out they're good, very sturdy and don't flex and move like the plastic ones.
how do you change the one at the base of the neck
Looks just like the cement sink I grew up with in the basement .
I think it would have been cheaper to replace it
La patience 🤣😝🤪🤪
That customer is an aho, would test my patience
Works better when you use the wrench properly
I have one of those sinks in my basement . I hope it doesn't go back cause I sure as heck don't want to have to try to carry that out
I think you probably have to bust it up and take it out in pieces. They are unbelievably heavy.
Reminds me of the old adage " no good deed goes unpunished" run from Mr. Crusty and his ebay ignorance.
Or as the saying goes: "Being frugal, ends you up paying twice."
I had that sink in my basement. I smashed it with big hammer and took out a piece by piece. And installed one from Home Depot and soldered new faucet.
Watch out for the ole screwdriver hand gouge, ouch! Lots of band aids !!
You really lucked out on that old faucet, replacing the washers. Last time I worked on a faucet like that, the screws were so corroded that they twisted off, couldn't drill the screws out, wound up replacing the whole faucet!
Best fix for an old concrete laundry sink is a 10-lb sledgehammer, and several 5-gallon buckets to carry out the rubble
Guy was a pain in the ass... but I have the same sink in my basement (original to the house) that the previous owner took out of service and left leaning against the wall and replaced with a flimsy Home Depot plastic POS sink. After the plastic sink fell apart, I put the concrete sink back (had to seal upna crack with epoxy and buy a brass faucet for it) I couldn’t be happier with the end result! Those sinks are enormous and great for washing large items (trash cans, etc).
I have a crack in my vintage concrete utility sink too. Cloud you please share the epoxy product you used to repair it?
It would have been cheaper and easier to go with a new faucet.
“I keep hearing noises” should have said call ghostbusters 🤣
LOL! Next, he will be seeing dead people.
LMAO!!!

How many times has Lav parked his car in Harvard yard
Lowes has those slop sink faucets
I think you should have a beer, and let Miss Molly drive you home. Sorry you had to deal with that, I don't like quoting prices either.
You fixed another crusty one; for another crusty (customer) one!!!
31$ on Amazon that guy seamed like knuckle head
I bet that cheapskate dropped a log when Steve gave him the bill..!
HAHAHA!
For sure at least shot out a plum.
Yeah, all of that and a a prolapsed colon! Next time he will try to find a student tech from E-Bay School of Plumbing.
Does he actually use this old sink
Steve, a guy with a soap stone sink has absolutely no idea what "Ebay" is..... lol.
6 pt socket or line wrench works great on those to avoid shipping and rounding off.
Jesus's the state of the sink what the fuck was he doing in that sink ,mixing cement !!!! 🤣🤣
Nice work Steve!! The type that busts out the penny jar to pay the slip :)
I thought the customer was very good. His basement looks good, he obviously put a lot work into it. And having a spare faucet is a good idea. The government is pushing high efficiency boilers, what is one to do. The government will probably make low efficiency furnaces illegal soon.
This video was next level momma 🤣🤣🤣🤣 hahahahahah... Some customers are simply an astonishing spectacle. Hahahaha!
When the customer asked about shutting off the water I was surprised he didn't ask why you were wearing gloves!
Or why do you have a sink below the tap that guy was dumb
last 60 seconds of the video just shows how cool Steve is under pressure!!!
Frankly, it had me yelling at the laptop!
That wasn't luck, That was gundy mama! When I had basement waterproofed I jack hammered old sink in basement. Humid days the thing smelled like cat piss. Thanks Steven!
What a piece of work he was, holy shit. Better you than me.
A soapstone sink will last a long, long time. They won't crack unless hit by something or water in them freezes.
Omg, the patience you have with some customers
Lol. That's a pro for you. Keep the disrespect and impatience in your mind and vent it on the ride home after they pay.
@@WeatherNut27 YEAH I I KNOW RIGHT
SHUT UP 🤦🏻🤦🏻😒😒
@@WeatherNut27 lol exactly
I don't think Steve liked this guy very much. He is more of a return customer guy.
Steven im not into any plumbing or anything of this nature but man your videos are so entertaining its a joy watching you work, keep up the good work my dude!
This guy is helarious! This guy thinks his sink is the 🐱 a ss!!!!
Who would use plastic pipes for a boiler .
@@mainelyelectric thank you I didn't know that
Wow customers I tell you mama
How long are you planning to keep your car? until the wheels fall off.
It's a crusty one, momma!
Just curious, why couldn’t you put a six point socket on that instead of using an adjustable wrench? Is it some weird size or something? Thanks.
My neighbor growing up had one of those sinks in her boiler room and it outlasted her. Have not seen one of those in years.
Had the exact same soapstone sink and faucet in the house where I grew up.
@@oilburner9989 Our neighbor's didn't.
I did a quick ebay search and a brand new one is about 40 bucks, just like Steve said. Slop sink facets aren't used all that much, unlike the kitchen and bathroom facets. My slop sink facets look like my grandma's old slippers.
looks like that sink was made when the model T came out.
I like the directors commentary graphics
44$ on ebay
Man says that the left tap hasn't been moved in the last 30 years maybe. I don't think anything down there has been moved in the last 30 years an all
The captions you added were great!
What's so bad about an old soapstone sink?
My dad used to say, "Tool is everything"; and you have some nice ones, Steve.
This faucet is a AquaPlumb commercial series, the PN is 1828010, 40 bucks. Keep the good work, greetings from Brazil
you can get a gerber clamp on faucet. it works the same.
Tray Two Handle Laundry Faucet Brass on Ebay $35. For him $135.
Good grief! It ain't ez working with the cheesy public mama!
No shutoffs for the sink?
Steve good job. I have found it's easier to put the stem back in the handle when you are unscrewing the washer. Just easier to hang on to.
You need to get yourself some good wrenches, those adjustables are garbage.
should have told him that noise was a skunk trying to get in and left it at that.
This customer is tieght and thoes sink and a faucet seen a better days .
That's an old concrete sink, They're still manufactured. But, somewhat expensive compared to a double fiberglass laundry tub/tray/utility sink. A new acrylic sink and brass faucet should run about two-hundred dollars. Parts only. A Central Brass 0465 2-Handle Laundry Faucet, about $50. Or a Gerber Plumbing G0049530, about $60. Soapstone is more for a kitchen. A double bowl type goes for around $1,500.00. Also, not many plumbers would replace faucet parts. I'm sure they would just replace the faucet. Costing the customer more money. I will give Mr. Lavimoniere credit for doing the repair. I give him an "A" for that. I thought it was funny when the customer told him the neighbors were connected to the same water main. "Well they're going to have to deal with it". What if they were taking a shower or putting out a kitchen fire, or whatever. Oh, well. He's a character, but he does get the job done.
That dude is a hard head Steve, replace the damm thing it's looks older than sin. To actually think to purchase one and but to the side for when the day comes to replace it!!!! WOW I've heard some B.S., but not like this before! Good for you Steve you remained cool about the whole situation!
How you get my name? The supply house. I am going to have to talk to them to stop giving out my number to questionable people.
After you used your pliers the right way it worked. Weird lol
I love your videos, but there are more tools than slip joint pliers and an adjustable wrench.....just saying....
@@kingpins9 😆
@@kingpins9 funny thing was that at some point after he had loosened the hot water, he was digging through something and a string of thin walled sockets were visible.....
Wow Steve, that sink is a real “classic”!
Hear that? Can you hear it? That squeak when he walks? LOL this is one of those customers where you argue about anything and everything. You don’t want to replace the sink do you? What , this sink? No the freaking sink upstairs! Where do you think we’re working here? Some people!!!
Greetings from switzerland
im also from switzerland,i love crusty works
How’s the air up there?
He put down the paint and forgot to put the silica in with the paint to keep ya from bustin your aaaaaaa.
Central Brass Cast Brass Laundry Faucet. Home Depot $50
April 1st. Was a bit of a joke having to work on a sink like that. Looks like a dungeon that gets used on Halloween night to chop victims up
Well interesting, i repair appliances and this is my life too, some wierdos out there. All was good on your end till you were using the west virginia socket set to break that nut loose lol. Luckily it came loose but ill just assume you didnt have a six point wrench. Btw i still have a soap stone sink and it has cracked and leaked. Wanna know what fixed it for over 4 years now... flex seal lol now its soap sealed stone. I wanna get rid of it but dont feel like breaking it up. Have fun out there and be safe. Even the long srewdriver was scary thought it was goin thru your finger. Been there, done that, prob wont do it tomorrow tho ill be in Hawaii
