I have never seen Wilson Tong or Chang Yi fight so fast, so intensely and with with such agility, while working with any other fight choreographer. Props to Sammo for bringing out all of his actors' true potential. Looks beautiful on the screen.

Sammo and his stunt team's action direction was phenomenal but a good chunk of the final fight is performed by Lam Ching Ying (doubling for Chang Yi), the overhead shot of "Wilson Tong" is actually Yuen Biao. This is a truncated version of the finale, as the group fight is cut. Biao actually doubles for Leung Kar Yan, Chang Yi & Wilson Tong at various times during the finale.@@alikhawar520

@@ninjavigilante5311 I was just about to say the same. Sammo & others of his generation edited by hand, made films without a shot list or storyboard and improvised action sequences on the set. The Golden Generation and Sammo is the best of the best. We'll never see anything like this again! Delight Sammo got a lifetime achievement award, he's not looking too well these days, sadly.

Beardy said in an interview that he had never had a formal training in martial arts and that It was only a hobbie for him also he used the Wing Chung style in his movies but he didn't kow it at all. He was really talented and one the BEST I seen in Kung Fu movies! Kung Fu FOR EVER!!!

‘BEARDY’ LEUNG GAR YUEN & WILSON TONG, who starred as one of the snake masters in SNAKE IN THE MONKEYS SHADOW in an awesome fight scene.Reading about Leung gar Yuen, was that he wasn’t a trained martial artist.He’d been a Shaw brothers stunt man,and according to Samo Hung, he was one of those stuntmen, who was able to pick up moves for the films he was in.Absolutley amazing.What it shows was just how hard working stuntmen in Hong Kong martial arts movies were,and the dangerous stunts they were put through.Both Jackie Chan and Samo Hung had worked as stuntmen, before becoming Movie stars,and we’ve seen from the outtakes of Jackie’s movies, in particular PROJECT A & ARMOUR OF GOD, Jackie could have been seriously injured or even lost his life.

Wilson Tong was 1 of the greatest fight choreographers of all time. I'm a big fan of his & still remembers his 1st appearance in Enter the Dragon 🐉!! Not sure if he's 1 of Bruce Lee's "little brothers " from Whon Leung Shun's Wing Chun ( like Sammo Hung) he strikes me like maybe he's 1 of Raymond Clow's boys. Young kid getting his shot
And I love Wilson Tong's humility. He choreographs all these movies and really shows off his amazing skills, and then he graciously loses his fights to the movie protagonists. He is so awesome!

@@jaydebeer7251 - They DO know it, but they learn MOVIE Kung-fu as opposed to real fighting Kung-fu, which even in Bruce Lee's day in China was almost extinct thanks to the dam commies. Takes LOTS of practice to make it look THAT good. The moves, techniques, styles, theory are ALL real and Legit, but they just learn the forms for the movies. Just as Keanu Reeves, Trinity and the rest had to learn Movie kung-fu from Yuen Woo Pings teams that also taught hundreds of Chinese actors movie kung-fu, they had to spend nearly a year learning the same thing and continued training all throughout the making of the Matrix movies. Carey Ann Moss (trinity) said that it was sooo hard she nearly QUIT the movie several times. Keanu fell in love with it and kept practicing for a while too he said.

sabermaster80 I was lucky enough to live in Hong Kong before and after the return and actually met ‘Beardy’ as the locals and the industry nicknamed him while at a restaurant. Guy was super kind and really appreciated his fans and unlike today was able to stroll around without people being disrespectful or photographers taking pictures every second. His ability to mimic martial arts moves was astonishing indeed!
@@chrisdooley6468 Yeah I almost respect his ability more than an actual fighter trying to reign in the hurt for the camera myself, justified or not, like he had a photographic memory for martial arts moves (ok and the ability to pull them off) A real fighter doesn't necessarily have the ability to pop moves for a camera, they're usually more interested in popping the opponent. Benny had it too though

I remember when my father rented his video on vhs when I was just about 16 years of age,many years ago.And when it came up to this fight I didn’t blink at all the fight scene.And every time I see this fight it just keeps blowing me away

You need to see the whole film, it's a bona fide classic definitely ranks as one of Sammo's masterpieces. They actually cut a fight against a group of opponents from this video, you can seen Yuen Biao prominently doubling Leung Kar Yan in it. Yuen Biao doubles Wilson Tong here and you can see Lam Ching Ying doubling Chang Yi quite obviously.

Jackie chan could do kung fu and studied it along with fatty(salmon hung ) at Chinese drama school etc . Bruce Lee studied kung fu as we all know.. beardy didn't hence why he will never be mentioned along side them.. but he was a great action actor..

I´ve seen thounsands and thounsands chinese kung fu movies and I think this could be the best CLASSIC kung fu fighting choreography scene ever. Please no misunderstanding me, Bruce Lee´s fighting scenes are in the hightest level; and the marvelous Jackie Chan vs Ben Urquidez choreographies are no classic chinese Kung Fu.
These days we know a large portion of these fights are unrealistically choreographed (the first king fu films starred opera performers!), the same can still exist said for modern movies, but, those two heels kicks!!! Tong's style was way over my head. It's a very aggressive style and you have to be fearless to use it. Great scene!

But this one was choreographed by Sammo. Daggers 8 is also good, but the fight scenes are not this fast or intense.

This and Broken Oath represent the best of the 70s choreography, for me.
Man this "fight" scene is "Oscar" worthy just fuckin "incredible"! They are "beating" each other to death and we are " loving" every minute.🤓

I seen this movie in the Sun Sing theater in chinatown in the 70's. Those who know... know. Great memories.

I´ve seen thounsands and thounsands chinese kung fu movies and I think this could be the best CLASSIC kung fu fighting choreography scene ever. Please no misunderstanding me, Bruce Lee´s fighting scenes are in the hightest level; and the marvelous Jackie Chan vs Ben Urquidez choreographies are no classic chinese Kung Fu.

These days we know a large portion of these fights are unrealistically choreographed (the first king fu films starred opera performers!), the same can still exist said for modern movies, but, those two heels kicks!!!
