Midna's Lament - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Piano Cover

- Of course I needed to do a piano cover of the most famous piano piece from the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Also known as Midna's Desperate Hour, we were all pulled at the heartstrings when we first experienced this. Fascinating piece, playing it helps me understand what the composer had in mind when writing this. Even though the piece seems somewhat calming, those arpeggios that the left hand plays are quite the opposite, driving a sense of urgency, beautifully displaying to the listener a strange mix of sadness yet desperation. Come to think of it I can't even remember what happened to Midna to cause all the commotion, though it probably had something to do with Zant. Maybe when it's ported to the Switch year (hopefully) my memory will be refreshed. Also, I only have ONE more Legend of Zelda vid to redo in the newer format. Does anyone know which one it is?
This was a remake of Versus Round 8 in the newer format! Whose arrangement reigns supreme? Check out Erik C 'Piano Man's and let us know in the comments!

I still love the opening of this one. Such an emotional part of TP. It's by far my favourite TLoZ game because of the dark theme throughout the game which is unique compared to the other games of Zelda.
I've listen to SO MANY piano covers of this theme and this is BY FAR THE BEST THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS
Thx for your vote of confidence😄
Absolutely incredible. It makes me want to go play Twilight Princess again!
Maybe Nintendo will grace us with this opportunity soon!
This was such a fitting piece for the atmosphere of the game. I completely agree on that sense of urgency you describe. Nice work as always.
Thank you good sir:)
How does this not have more views??? It's INCREDIBLE
Thanks 😁 maybe one day the UA-cam algorithm will smile upon this video
*Saves to playlist cutely*
OK, got my tissue, ready to cry. LET'S DO THIS.
🤧
This made me remember playing through this part of the game the first time and being torn between continuing the game as fast as possible, just standing still listening to the music, and getting mad whenever an enemy came too close and the track switched to battle music. You really captured the energy of those scenes! Loved this
It’s been 15 years since I’ve played this game and that scenario is one of the things I remember best lol
I'm both floored by your performance and how little attention your channel gets. You really have incredible skill. I started learning piano years ago and never stuck with it. You've helped me rediscover my passion for the instrument and I've been trying to actually learn. I doubt I'll ever reach THIS level, but the inspiration is real!
Rekindling that fire is what I live for! You can get to this level one day if you have the passion! That’s how I got here!
@@RyanZPianoGuy I guess you're right! Thank you! Well keep doing what you're doing, absolutely amazing work!
Beautiful
This was outstanding. One of the loveliest renditions of Midna's theme I've ever heard! You've added so much nuance to this performance, with masterful expressiveness. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for the thoughtful comment, it was my pleasure:)
Zelda music is my favorite to play on piano - great song choice and cover
Bro you’re AMAZING! This is so good!
Beautiful cover once again
One of your best !
God I love this so much, you never disappoint! 💙
beautiful as always, and yes to eriks idea - spotify plz lol
I will look into it!
This is so good
i love this so much! Midna is one of my favourite characters, and this song hits really hard for that nostalgic feeling. Put that together with the skill of how you executed it and this makes my favourite video on youtube!
Wow I’m honored! 😁
this is the best cover by far please add this to spotify !
I will one day! I’ve been swamped with other projects, but I hope to start looking into that by the end of the year.
This is the first video of yours that I've discovered a few months back, and man you really did this justice. I don't think words can express how much I love this. Twilight princess is one of, if not my most favorite game of all time. Hearing you play one of my favorite pieces of music from my favorite video game so beautifully really makes me feel things. :') It makes me want to practice piano more now. Love your work!!
Thank you for sharing, I live for comments like these ☺️
Amazing!
I like that you elevated Midna's Lament.... thanks for that. I love it!!
Of course, it was fun to come up with!
Very beautiful version Ryan
I still remember dashing through the rain in links shadow form to this piece.
I'm a year late to this video, but just found it and your cover of this theme is absolutely wonderful!
Better late than never! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
this takes the cake. and the lake and the rake.
I’m rich
It's truly one of the best piano arrangements of midnas lamenet. But I still don't know why the left hand doesn't sound repetitive, or why it even was composed this way in the original? It seems to me that the left hand is playing its own thing, those waves how I would call them and from time to time some chords. But is there a reason why it was composed this way and not in a totally different direction. I'm sorry if I'm asking for some pretty basic stuff, I'm just starting out and having some problems composing for the left hand.
No worries, I appreciate your thoughts on the matter!
Why is this so underrated man
Nice cover👌
Thanks! Sometimes that happens when fighting against the algorithm
Hey man your piano covers are truly amazing and beautiful. They're also not super hard to learn (as a mediocre piano player myself), keep it up!
If you learn any of them I’d love to listen to it! And yes I plan to keep it up ☺️
Nice transition at the beginning! But overall I'd say its the besy cover I've ever heard!
I appreciate that:) I’d say it’s one of my best!
Really hope this get lots of likes
Maybe one day!!
Back here on christmas eve, Midna's Lament should be an official christmas song, don't ask me why ok!
Haha one typically does not associate Midna’s Lament with the Christmas spirit 😂
Any midi for this? I need this sheet music bad.
I think it’s on my Patreon. If it isn’t, let me know
mt lindo

I’ve been looking for good music sheets to give to my gf as a gift. Thank you for making these. If they are available on patreon and she likes them. I’ll definitely sub to it. Subbed to your youtube today.
I don’t have sheet music for this particular arrangement. Rather on Patreon I have the sheet music to the original piece that I built my arrangement from. Sorry to disappoint 😔 but maybe one day I’ll have a publisher work out the licensing for me
