Omg 12 minutes in is my grandpa, Gilbert Parsons from Tazewell, Va. He’s been dead since January 1, 2005 from cancer. You have no idea how happy I am to see this.
Thanks so much for sharing. I love this. Joe Carter was a good friend of my dad’s and used to visit us often - especially in the 60’s and 70’s. Miss our talks, Joe playing the guitar and singing on our front porch and the stories he used to tell. He was so good to me growing up. Even after I was grown and married he called me by the nickname he gave me when I was little. Joe invited us over in 1983 or 84 when John & June filmed their Christmas special and introduced us to them. Thankful for many years of happy and special memories. He is greatly missed. Thanks again!!
Hey Allen! wow what an amazing piece of history you have here! would you mind if i used your video for The Carter Family Channel? the fans would love to see and listen to Janette And Joe :)
really enjoyed your video of the trip into the carter fold. good glimpse of the countryside.. not sure that feller on the Martin by the truck will make the Opry, but at least he is trying.. great video.. will watch the rest later... tks for sharing.
You’re right about never quite making the Opry, but every time someone was willing to listen to him play he sure would think he was right up on that stage haha :) His name was Gilbert Parsons and you’d have a lot of trouble finding a man who loved to play music and visit The Fold more than he did!
Precious memories spent with the love of my life, Barbara Norton, at the Carter Fold, memories which will carry me to heaven
That's was a great time with Jeannette and Joe thank you for the memories

I have to save this video. I’m so grateful you filmed him. He loved to entertain and now I can remember him through this video.
