Very informative, you have thoroughly covered all the points that I was interested in! I was really happy to hear details about the independent operation (RTSP, ONVIF, local web interface) and other aspects that lots of reviews don't usually mention! Thanks for the quality content! 👍
Totally agree with you on what it's missing... The biggest thing for me is totally needing an *ETHERNET Port...* I would pay $20 more for just this, and they would be MAKING MONEY, instead of losing it by not having a useful feature many want. Preferably also one that can double as PPOE, so you don't have to have two cables if you go that route for connectivity and/or power. Excellent review giving useful information... Despite it being wireless only and a bit "big" (could be smaller, and "side" mountable on a wall.) This is finally what I was needing. The IP stuff and FTP stuff, along with the dual wifi, and of course just the QUALITY of the product, while most others have issues.
A good reliable 5v camera that has some basic flaws. The format is only in 4:3 on Android and stretched 4:3 in PC Mode. An inexcusable omission is a USB power cord so it can be powered by any USB power point. Why this 25 cent cord is not included as standard is a mystery. All said and done, It is one of the best and most reliable cameras in this price range. Clarity is as good as it gets for 5MP. The Wireless transmission range is the same if not better than the RLC-W series. Lets hope the up and coming E1-OUTDOOR has learned from the ZOOM.
I just ordered one of these, to add to my small collection of security cameras. Reolink cameras are nice, but it would be nice if they made smaller IP cameras that were about the size of the Lumus. I thought the Lumus was an IP camera, but it turns out that it isn't. I'd just like to have a less bulky one that fits on very narrow shelves. Hopefully, the Zoom will.
What do you mean by knocked offline? I had some issues with WiFi but have since discovered that this is caused by my WiFi setup rather than the cameras themselves and it was edited out of the Cons section.
TDCatTech I have a few E pros and a hand full of the larger cams all 5G and wireless The large cams never have a problem with but the E pros all of them will stop working and i open the app and the are off line ans that signal strength number is way to low even though the router is close enough and i cant get them back on line even if i re do the procedure to add it. They are all 5G cams to. I have ios phones.
Unfortunately, yes. It seems that camera web interfaces are still stuck in the past in this regard. Still requiring Flash post 2015 seems insane to me. The benefit with the Reolink is that the desktop app for both PC and Mac is decent and works reliably and the phone app is superb.
Correction - The latest firmware has had HTML5 added! Finally, CCTV camera interfaces are catching up. To be fair to Reolink, this was released prior to the expiry of Flash. I just didn't know about it.
I would expect so (though I haven't tried a PoE NVR from ReoLink). They do support OnVif so technically they would be picked up by the NVR if both on the same network. My only concern would be resolution. There is no option on this camera for a basic FHD 1920x1080 resolution so if the NVR didn't support higher resolutions, it probably wouldn't be able to record it.
Thanks for the video. I have one question, I bought this for my mum and she only has an ipad, how do you record, for exemple between midnight and 7am? Where does the clip goes? Thanks.
Fit a MicroSD card to the camera and the clips will remain on there. I use one of these - geni.us/sd128 (affiliate link) - which gets me about 10 days on a camera recording permanently between 8pm and 7am.
Can the infrared be disable by software as i plan to use it in a window to film outside because the reflections impede the image to no-use. Practical infos in your video.
Hi. I was looking for something for my mums house that both me and my sister can view on our own separate phones or tablets. Do you know if 2 different phones can install the app and view the same camaras?
Absolutely. We do exactly that. My partner and I have the app on our phones (she’s an admin so can move the cameras etc.) and our son also has the app on his iPad as a user so he can just view the cameras but not change positions etc.
Nice! I'm looking at a few more cameras (outdoor use) from Reolink soon (whenever they send them) including a 4K variant but the E1 Zoom would still be my choice for indoor use after over 6 months of use. The resolution is excellent and the zoom capability is excellent to get just the right composition to suit the room.
Nice! Good addition. Just FYI, I still use these cams around the house in Dec 2023 and all of them are working perfectly. They lack detection features of modern cameras but I imagine they've also added that on newer models. 👍🏻
@@tdcattech For sure, though I'm not 100% sure which version I'll get as some of the reviews suggest they got sent an older version without ethernet (I got it to use with ethernet so fingers crossed). I use Frigate as my back-end for detection and recording, but I think the newer versions do have a bit more on-board. Out of interest, does the camera have a web UI of its own?
Compared to what at this price point? I'm certainly not claiming it's the quality of a cinema camera but for a 5MP pet cam, I still find these good over two years after purchase.
Check out the E1 Zoom on Amazon - geni.us/e1zoom --- Support this channel through this affiliate link.

I am so glad I found this. Thank you!!!! I am upgrading my camera system and this was so helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Yep sold me on it to, thanks mate.

Nice review. I will change to reolink from foscam just because software. Thank you.
I really can’t praise the mobile app enough. I have been using three Reolink cams since they sent me one and they've been solid.

Reolink Lumus is an IP camera.
The charging cable is the only thing I don't like. It should be a universal cable like a USB.
Agreed. Stupid decision.
Is it much smoother when 20 fps? You tested it only 15 fps?
Great video! On the optical zoom, is there any quality loss at all when zooming at 3x or will it maintian 5mp? Thank you!
No quality loss as it’s optical zoom. Just more detail on a 5MP image.
My E ones keep getting knocked off line i unplugged them. The big cams work I cant get proper support . I had to go back to my canary cams.

Yes. Settings -> Display -> Day & Night -> Color

My camera cannot hear any voice I will speak through it but on my videos are muted I can't hear anyone talking I need tips
Settings -> Advanced -> Record Audio
Is this enabled on your camera. I know this sounds obvious but it’s worth a check.
The newer E1 Zoom models do seem to have ethernet!

Can you use the clould if you run a VPN?
No. I think it’s linked to phone region settings rather than IP location.
does it support sub stream?
Yes. For downloading it supports main and sub but for viewing via the app it supports three bitrate levels.
I want power over ethernet !
the video quality look kind a poor
Video quality is great on these. Perfectly suitable for an indoor consumer camera.
@@tdcattech looks bad with pixels... sorry but u arent right. at that
