Key was goated in this video with those examples 😂😂 I agree though that the ritz makes more sense than the reserve unless you abuse the 1.5 cpp in the portal. I disagree with not getting the card due to the waiting period tho. I think of the boundless sub being the ritz sub, then you try out the boundless for a year and get a 35k FNC after 12 months, and simply upgrade to the ritz with no hard inquiry and then the next year you get the 85k FNC. I got 5 FNCs and before I knew it it’s been 12 months, got the 35k cert and now the ritz I mean seems reasonable to me
Gotta agree with the Ritz card $300 credit, I've used secure message to ask about offsetting transactions with said credit from a certain timeframe and within a few days, they were credited! I'm just about to hit my 1st year with the Ritz so looking forward to staying somewhere with the 85k FNC. I was also able to bring in 4 guests to a priority pass lounge! The food was subpar, but it was nice having free food since we had a late flight
This video has single handedly convinced my on the Ritz card. I love finding gems in the cc space and plan to apply for the boundless in July. Awesome vid!
Thank you!!! What a great video. My husband has had a Marriott card for years. I want him to upgrade to Ritz. I was thinking of getting the lower sapphire card myself. Do you see any downside to us splitting up these cards? Should he get both?
I don’t think there is a downside to splitting up the cards no, I think it’s probably smart to do so at first ha. See how you use the card, then can always add more over time. Thank you Viper for saying that and for being here!
Amigos, the super power for me of the beautiful Chase Ritz Carlton card (aside for being a 🐥 magnet) is the Three Club Level Upgrades,.. I have saved a couple thousand $ with these upgrades along. I use the entire $300 Airline credit on United Travel Bank with no issues. Happy Friday 🥂💕
Hey Leo! Thanks for the update about the United travel bank! Also very cool you’ve been able to use the upgrade certs, I’ve never used them once. Can I transfer them to you?
@@keyKEYAdventures Hola amiga, I don’t think you can transfer the Club Level upgrades,.. same as with the 85k pts FNC, you can’t transfer. But hey, I appreciate the offer 💕. I make sure I use those Club Level upgrades because my 13th year old son loves those damn cookies they always have at those Ritz Carlton Club level lounges. One note to know is that you can only use those upgrades when booking a minimum of two nights and has to be pay stays.
@@Leoprieto74 ahh gotcha, my work pays for nights but not sure if it will be eligible rates -- let me call and see if i can get one of these upgrades applied. Appreciate you

I honestly think the Ritz and Sapphire Preferred is a much better setup than just having the Reserve. You're paying $5 less in fees, but getting a free 85k cert plus better lounge guest access. Yes, the $300 fee is a bit harder to use on the Ritz, but there are workarounds for sure, as KeyKey mentioned in the video.
Great conversation! Super interesting and helping me think more about my own strategy. Seems like keeping my CSP if I can product change to the RitzCar might be a good option for me. Thanks for sharing! 👏🏽😊👍🏽
Thanks Enrique! Yes absolutely! The only thing is, you can only product change another Chase Marriott card to the Ritz, CSP can’t be product changed to it unfortunately. Thanks for being here Enrique!
85k pt FNC is great for Marriott is 🔥🔥 I had to add 2k pts for a 50k FNC recently for a 52k pt room I stayed at the Hotel at the Skydome when the Toronto Raptors played there. I watched a game from there and went to a concert down their the next day
Now this is another reason why your opinion is more important than everyone else's. Would you have been able to see the concert from your room (without paying for a concert ticket)?
@keyKEYAdventures yep. But we're were at the stage and backstage. It was a Bad Boy concert.... Many years before I knew that Puff was the Diddler 😲. A friend of mine worked on their road team and could get tickets to basically anything.
Rtiz card is on the radar in April when I am below 5/24 again, will be getting the Boundless and working the multi-year approach to get that card and the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant for its 85K FNC as well
Awesome plan! I've had a hard time thinking about the Amex Brilliant, how many nights do you stay at marriotts roughly? I'm just trying to understand if I should add the Brilliant to my list
I primarily stay at Hilton now but I used to be Marriott only. On average I would say I stay at Marriott 5-6 nights a year. My goal is to be able to get 5-6 FNCs each year from cards. I have 3 Aspires, next would be the 2 85K nights from the Ritz and Brilliant card and then somewhere down the road the Hyatt card
I applied directly as well back in 2018. Love the card. I still have my original card (heavy metal) which expired 2023. Now I have a lighter version of this card now 😞.
@ Yes I still have the box and card. It’s stowed away at the moment. I also have the original metal Marriott card before it became Bonvoy. It’s all black and slightly lighter than the Ritz. Exactly. And the fact you can’t transfer to Airlines or other hotels, and Marriott points are worth a measly .7CPP on average. The Ritz is overhyped in this regard. It’s a perks card, but not an earner.
@@soapa4279 love the discussion! Agree on Ritz being a perks card 100% With Marriott, you do have some unique transfer partners like Japan Airlines-- depending on use case it could possibly make sense

Sorry to hear about your experiences with their customer service. What happened? Last year before the changes, I've had a lot of success with travel insurance for myself, and my mom. But haven't had any claims since the change...
IDK if Marriott points equate to Ultimate Reward Points ... Marriott points are likely to be devalued faster and have worse transfer to partners. Also the Ritz-Carlton provides gold status, how did yah get platinum status with it? It still feels like you're better off getting Amex plat and just have basic gold status with Marriott and Hilton.
Mike, I love this game and value your opinion. Back in 2018, the Ritz/Marriott was a totally different animal with different rules. I find the Ritz perks a lot easier to use than the Amex Plat - but again just my opinion.
Respectfully, she makes no sense saying it's not worth getting the RC because the time it takes. WTF? That one statement almost invalidates the entire video. I just got mine in November upgraded from Boundless. Looks like I'm double dipping the $300 credit in December (done) & then 2025. She thinks it's the same as the CSR? What about transfer partners with CSR vs. only Marriott points with RC? That said, if you have the Sapphire Preferred like I do, the RC is a very nice compliment. RC credit does work with United travel bank, by the way.
Value your opinion and commentary. For more clarity, to get the Ritz takes a LOT of effort. The only drawback of the ritz is the points system are equal. The flexibility of UR points and 50 percent boost gives the reserve the win.
