About a year ago, I spent about half a day untangling gavinized cable, like the kind your average telephone pole guy wire is made of. It's a very stiff wire and quite unruly, i was definitely questioning my life choices at that point.
Definitely an apprentice's job lol. Won't use it, can't throw it away, can't give it away, nobody would buy it lol classic.
I feel your pain. I had to untangle and haul out 300' of wire rope out of a elevator hoist way not long ago during a re-rope job. One rope failed while the car was in flight and it just made a mess of everything.
Interesting. Clever idea. Nice work mister
The labored breathing sounds just like my grandfather who is also a machinist. He got tuberculosis when he was 13 and they ended up removing his left lung. He's still going strong to this day. The labored breathing made me think of him.
I've had to impliment the "no bringing home junk unless you orginize and store it immediately" after my storage unit filled up with crap like this from a decade ago
Unless your shop rates something extremely high, an hour to untangle steel cable worth $10/ft seems like a good deal.
I had not bought any for a while, You are pretty close I see, I thought it was closer to $5.00/ft.

I used to think the same thing about the gym, I'm glad I've gotten smarter. There's plenty of weird little muscles that you don't use often enough to make strong, that you'll end up hurting when you have to make an odd lift, or pull from a weird angle, but hitting them in the gym had made it so I tend to not hobble so much after moving something odd.
You should’ve just picked up the whole jumbled mass and flip it over. To uncover the coils at the bottom. Making unraveling much easier!
Used to work for a electric cable manufacturer, sometimes we would get tangles like that.
I first made the spinner because I had 4 miles of ACSR, that had bad spools, I bought it for 1/2 of scrap & sold it for new price after re-spooling.
Dr John you got a mess going on there
It can be done. A great salvage.
I wish Bubbles was there to help you.
I just couldn't sit there and watch someone do that singlehandedly.
Edit, grammar
I watched this! God bless
Smart decision
Like trying to untangle Xmas lights times 10000

I asked them to let me do it myself. I did get help putting it on the new spool & should have videoed that too, but never enough time to do everything.
