Hilary not so long ago I was in your season of life. I cherished the quiet moments. Now I am alone… all alone. My children have grown up with lives of their own. My husband has passed away. I am reinventing my life but I long for those days. The days when I felt like I was not ever going to have enough time to get everything done. You are wise to know this season is short. Linger there and continue to enjoy those little ones. It is the most important roles that we have in our lives.
Oh! this gave me chills .. my kids are 18 & 17 , and though I’m enjoying these times I do miss when they were little . Sometimes it feels like they are going to stay little forever but oh boy was I surprised , how time flies . ❤️
Carol, I can so relate! My 4 kids are grown and have families of their own and have made me a grandmother 10 times over. My 2 girls do not live near me but my 2 boys do. 6 of my 10 grands live near me so I am blessed. But I also miss the days when my kids were younger! The time went so fast!
@Carol Schultz This was so well said. I had chills up my spine. My babies are all adults and off at college. I remember thinking when they were little that the days were so long. I was sooo wrong. That time was short and fleeting. If only I could return to that time. I would spend every moment playing with them and would find a way to get the housework done when they were asleep. I found out the hard way that those dishes will stay in the sink and wait for you. May God bless you in your new season
years ago I read an article that said this in various ways.... someday you will yell " if you slam that screen door one more time!" but no one will be there to slam it..... if I have to pick up these toys one more time... but there will be no toys in the floor.... if I have too pick up these shoes one more time...but there will only be your shoes ... cherish every crazy busy moment that you are surrounded by love and children .... you are blessed
Like you, I always cherished my years as a homemaker and mother. There is not another job in the world as important and that. I love thinking back on those memories and I never regret the time I spent raising our children and running a well oiled home. xo
I just want to thank you. I've been feeling so overwhelmed and frustrated with homemaking lately. This video was exactly what I needed to think about it a different way. I want my 5 babies to remember a content momma who did her best, not an harried one who strives for perfection.
Yes, the blessing & honor of homemaking continues even as an empty nester. My husband of 35 yrs. passed away when our girls were 10 & 12 (14 yrs. ago), so I’ve experienced different versions of homemaking. Recently I realized that even though it’s just me at home now, I still implement the daily cleaning/laundry/tidying habits I’ve developed over these years. Why change what works well?! 😊
One of my fave videos ! Just love how you find joy and purpose in the ordinary- it’s a key to contentment for sure. And I agree the faith fuel is absolutely essential😊
Loved the sentiment of this vlog. “The messes I get to clean up”. I once read some wise advice that we should reframe seemingly monotonous and unpleasant tasks from “I HAVE to” to “I GET to”. Life is short and moments fleeting. It’s all about perspective. Thanks for sharing. Have a lovely day 😊.
I needed to hear this today. I've been married since I was 18, almost 49 years to a wonderful man. We were very fortunate in what the Lord has provided for us. I was a stay at home mom to 2 boys (a full-time volunteer firefighter/EMT also during that time) and I loved it more than anything in this world. It was not always perfect but I had such a blessed life. Then they grew up. As they are to do. Now 42 and 39 I have been given 3 beautiful grandchildren who are now the light of my life. I feel as though I have a purpose when they come stay with us (they are local Praise God) and most of the rest of my time at 66 with a now retired husband I wonder what am I here for if only the grandchildren? You brought up some valid points that I will apply to my life now in this season. I need to watch again and take notes. Enjoy your time now. Everyone said it would go by so briefly, and sometimes I wished that but I loved my life more than anything in the 80s and 90s. It was my reason for being and I guess somewhere along the way I lost that and found it again in the brief time I spend with the grands. There is so much to be thankful for. I know how gracious God has been so good to us and I do lose sight of that. Thank you for reminding me today and for throwing out new things to be thankful for. I watch so many UA-cam channels but your's is definitely one of my favorites as is your home. Everyone else looks the same but your's stands out in it's classy simplicity. Much like I decorate. God bless sweet girl and thank you for this. xoxTX Deb
The benefits of a small home is bountiful. Easier to maintain and the whole family gets to be closer. Hilary, I’ve been enjoying your videos, they are so refreshing.
I love your outlook and it's so true everyone should cherish every minute of life and celebrate our kids and the ability to take care of them!! Being appreciative of what we have and are blessed with!! I love the Christmas song that says when I can't sleep I count my blessings instead of sheep!!!
Good Morning Hillary & viewers - I bought a magnet for my refrigerator that was a great reminder for me; Cleaning a house while children are growing - is like shoveling snow while it’s still snowing!! Homemaker is a mom no matter how many different hats she wears. Some stay at home, some work full or part time, some are disabled. All of us have a goal of raising our kids right in a loving home. Enjoy everything even the bad days. Those bad days will remind you how He carried you. They will bring tears or laughter but remember He will or has seen you through! Don’t beat yourself up. Take time to breathe, praise & pray. Your a great mom & wife Hillary a wonderful example for moms out there. I love how you are content & thankful with great faith. That is key!! Have a great safe blessed day everyone! 😊🙏🏼❤️
Hilary, what wisdom you are sharing here! Far too often, we have unrealistic expectations for our home or caring for the kids and you've shone such much needed light on it! Our first grandchild is just days old and I can tell you from years of raising 3 kids and homeschooling for 20 years, those years (that seem endless) are such sweet times and they are fleeting! Cherish every day and hug those kids! You are a beautiful example of a godly woman and mother! Keep letting your light shine! Love your content, even though I no longer have small kiddos. Now, I'm a caregiver to my 85 year old father who lives with us and a keeper of the home. Love your sweet spirit! Blessings!
I am married, no kids but 2 dogs & I work full time. I enjoy being a homemaker & take pride in what I do. I love that you said just to enjoy the season you’re in, I agree fully. Sometimes I grumble when I do laundry, it’s hard to believe I do so much for 2 people, but it’s my pleasure to take care of my husband & home. Home making is truly an art & I think it’s wonderful that you enjoy it, I do too! 💝
Being a Mom and homemaker was my dream as a child. Now my children are grown, but they still come around, I'm blessed with grandkids that come and stay with me and I still love homemaking. I am truly blessed. Love your videos, Hilary! God Bless!
I like to think of cleaning as an opportunity to see and touch all the many blessings God has given me. I think it is also a beautiful way to show my appreciation of those blessings, by taking good care of them.
This video was such a beautiful homage to the blessing of homemaking in our lives ❤️ Reminding us to not only appreciate that gift but also to enjoy it 🥰 Thank you friend
I love the balance, cleaning while they are awake while making time for being in the moment doing something fun with them. It's so important! I miss those days. I love your choice of words, 'gratitude for the now, the messes you get to clean up and the household you are honored to keep'. And my FAVORITE thing was seeing a Well USED Bible. That is a beautiful screen grab. Blessings!
"The Trap of My House Will Never Be Clean and Quiet, But Why is That Even My Goal", should be the title of a book (your book) that every homemaker should be required to read. I wish someone had told me that when I was younger, it would have helped me more than you know. I think it's why so many women choose not to be homemakers. They believe the measure of a good homemaker is a PERFECTLY clean and quiet home and that's all, but it is so much more. I really think you should consider writing a book. Your effortless way of simply demonstrating how to incorporate concepts such as homemaking, organizing, thrifting, and cooking, just to name a few, has helped many of us that watch your channel. Thank you for the videos. They are instructional, entertaining, and relaxing all at once. You and your family are such a blessing.
I stayed home to raise my five kids , who are all grown now but I would not have changed a thing, being home to raise your family is such a blessing 🙏🏻 Now I’m blessed with grand babies to help care for❤️
I was where you are now 20 yrs ago. You are correct in that you have to keep your focus on the tasks at hand, and come to terms with this is your life, messes, constant hard work every day, and being privileged to be a stay at home Mom . As difficult as it was sometimes, especially after my husband passed when my children were very young teens, I have continued to be able to be a stay at home Mom because my husband provided for us to live well. Being a stay at home wife and mother was a dream of mine that came true, and thankfully continues to be, as a Mom. Yesterday was the 13th anniversary of my husbands passing. And with that yearly reminder, I am always grateful what he provided for us to continue with. You are in the best part of your life, and it will go by very, very quickly. Enjoy every moment that you can, and plan for the future. tfs 🥰❄☃☔🏜💗✝🔆🥰❄☃☔🏜💗✝🔆🥰❄☃☔🏜💗✝🔆 Love, Denise in Arizona.
soon the noisy home becomes a quiet empty nest. I have fond memories of my children at home. Cherish yours, as I know you do. your salad looks so tasty. Thanks for sharing Hillary.
All of these comments are making me cry 🥺 I’m in the thick of motherhood, with a baby and toddler. Some days are just so hard, but I try to remind myself these are the best years of my life
“I am blessed beyond what I deserve” I literally listened to that over and over a few times… thank you for that Hillary… you channel is such a blessing to this platform💕
Hillary, I really enjoyed watching this video. I also enjoy taking care of my home and family. I work outside the home and I am pastor's wife so I am always so busy, but I love cooking for my family and making sure that their needs are met. Your children will have memories of all that you do for them. You are like the Proverbs 31 woman. You are busy taking care of your family. May God continue to bless you.
What a beautiful tribute to motherhood. I couldn’t think of a better way to describe it as “eternally valuable.” Blessings, friend. Your perspective is always a grounding and refreshing one.
I would absolutely love to be a full time homemaker. I work full time as a nurse but in the evening, so that allows me during the day to do all my home making chores and I really enjoy it. I find the cleaning and cooking so calming and it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something that day and haven’t wasted it. Love watching your videos in the mornings while I get ready for the day, I find them motivating. You have also motivated me into not wasting money and to live more simply which I’m really loving. I’ve always been a minimalist but never looked at frugal living until now. So thank you for your videos as they do make a difference to some of us lives and are appreciated. ☺️
I loved this video and appreciate all of the work you put into it- moving the camera for all of those different angles certainly must have added to your already full day! Your food looked delicious. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you Hilary, needed this video today - was just looking around my house and feeling overwhelmed by the never ending tasks. Could the messes around the house, kids dirty socks, food on the floor, etc be God’s funny little reminders of how truly blessed we are? 😊 I think so! 😊
❤️❤️❤️ it! You have truly been my inspiration when it comes to home making - you have no idea, Hilary! ☺️ and the new style you have adopted recently for the videos is a very nice change-up. I enjoy your videos so much. I find them calm and classy but also down to earth. I can relate to so many aspects you talk about like the blessing of 4 kids and a smaller home and the messes etc. ❤️~mandy
So inspiring. I love watching how you take care of your family. I missed my son so much. He is estranged from me. I hope and pray that he will find Jesus and mend our relationship. It was so loving taking care of him when he was young. Just watching your videos always bring me joy and flash back of how l love taking care of my one and only child. Missed him so much 😢.
Loved this! This day in age so many people make you feel like running your home is not an important job but I know that it’s the best job in the world! It brings me great joy to love and serve my husband and three little girls by keeping our home. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Laundry never ends here either. 5 kids and lots of messes. The sun is starting rise noticeably earlier now, though! Your salad looked so delicious! Love from Maine
I really enjoy your calm approach as the keeper of the home. I agree that we should enjoy each moment that we are in, and cherish them. I have not made sauerkraut but I do make my own kimchi, I enjoy the complex flavors of it. Both are very healthy.
Hilary, I just love your sweet spirit. Thank you for reminding me of the important things of enjoying the season I'm currently in. We just hit our one year mark of moving back to the States after being out of country for six years. We're still working on updating our home and making it ours, as well as adjusting to being empty nesters. It's hard at times, but recognizing the gratitude for all seasons is something I'm still working on. Oh, and I LOVE Josh Snodgrass' instrumental worship music! He's my go-to when I'm just wanting to fill our home with praise music. He's so talented! Blessings to you and your family! Thanks for posting such encouraging and peaceful videos!
Thank YOU for making this video! My house is always behind on a cleaning but I’m trying to get better about it! Just hearing you say things get messy in your house just made me feel like I’m not the only one!! Thanks for sharing your Old World Home lifestyle it’s fun to watch a someone who constantly is moving and always doing things with 4 kids! Props to you Momma!
Our children are grown & we even have grandchildren now. Your video expressed how I loved to homemake then & even now, though the work load is much less, I still gratefully tend to our home & it’s truly one of my favorite things. Thank you for such an encouraging & positive post ☺️
My two children are grown adults now and it's just me and hubby. That's nice too but I will never regret being home for my kids when they were young. Such happy times we had!❤
Thank you for such an encouraging and uplifting video on motherhood/house making. This area of life gets so much negativity from the outside world, I love to see your mindset on it and mine is totally the same. This area of like is definitely eternal. We are raising our kids for His Kingdom. God bless you!
Now that I work a fulltime job outside the home and do some side jobs, i miss just puttering around the home when I did WFH. That was honestly the best balance in my life. Thanks for showing us another wonderful day in your life. Its calming..
There is something about us humans that tends towards the negative, isn't there? That nasty fallen nature. You are wise to recognize it while you, and your children, are still young. I try to shove away any negative thoughts as quickly as possible and, instead, thank God for the wonderful gifts He has given me. Blessings to you and all of the other ladies out there! ❤
I’m trying to embrace and be grateful . I never was until now and I’m 38. I wish I was more like that when my kids were younger and no so grumpy and rushing through life when they were babies
I loved being a mom and a homemaker. I loved and still love being a homemaker. Our kids are all grown now, so my days as a stay at home mom are way over. We have 9 kids, ages 55 to 40. 30 grands and 5 great grands. ❤️
Love this video, thank you for shedding light on my hectic days. Going forward I will try to cherish this home and this mess during this stage of life.
Thanks for the reminders today! Sometimes I get in the grind of day to day life and get frustrated that it never feels “done.” But that’s okay, this season will be fleeting. 😭❤️
Thank you for sharing the blessing of homemaking. I was and am a homemaker my whole life. I came up in a time that made you feel as a second class citizen by society. This lie caused me to rebel against my roll and of course only made it harder. I am so happy to see the truth being shared for everyone to take advantage of this most honorable vocation! Good job sister.👏👏👏
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Your attitude and comments are so refreshing and positive. Once again, thank you so much for sharing your family life.
Thank you for the reminder that my role as a homemaker is an eternal blessing. Also thank for making me re-think my "why" for thinking I need a spotless house (that never happens) as wife/mother. Good to keep perspective on what really matter. May God bless you also as you take time to get in he word and study alone and with other sisters in Christ.
Hilary, I love the perspective of gratitude for being a homemaker. I was not able to stay at home when my kids were growing up but I was able to retire early and have been enjoying being a homemaker exclusively and am enjoying babysitting my granddaughters a few times a week. I also consider it a blessing to care for my Husband and be a full time homemaker now. I really enjoy your videos as they are very inspiring to me. ❤️
My children are all married and have their own children. I must say it was a lot of work but I miss some of those things. It goes by so fast but I really Loved being a stay at home mom and feel so blessed to be able to have that time with my children. You are a wonderful Mom Hilary thank you for remind us how important Moms are.❤️
Over time I've watched a few homemaking videos from other UA-camrs, but yours is the most genuine and meaningful one I've watched. Your channel is a breath of fresh air and I never miss any of your videos : )
Praise that! Love being a housewife I work full time and enjoy all the tasks and time with my hubby and pets! Please pray for are neighbor her spouse unexpectedly died ! Very sad never meant the couple we just moved in here! Did meet her last night when this happened! Hold them close each and every one
A great video all around! You captured the pace of a homemaker and all the cognitive labor that is done too keep home running smoothly. I love how by sharing the small ways you're trying new things or challenging yourself, new recipes, no refined sugar for a month, new books to read etc., you unintentionally inspire others to do likewise! Well done! I'm so glad I started watching your channel!
Sauerkraut is on my 2022 try it list!! 😂 perfect timing and inspiration! Thank you Such an amazing blessing to remind ourselves when we feel down or overwhelmed, our “worst days” are something someone, somewhere is praying for as their “good day”. ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻 See you soon!
You have such a balanced life between God, Family, and UA-cam! When I was raising my two young sons, I always attended a women's bible study group and went on a women's retreat once a year. It made me a better wife and mother! Setting time aside to be with other women, studying the Word, and taking time for yourself is the trifecta of a balanced life. One book I would recommend for mothers and wives is the "Envy of Eve" by Melissa Kruger. It's a great bible study on being content where you are in life. Be blessed today, Hilary!📚😊❤
It was relaxing to see you do your day with everything moms everywhere have to do! Loved the calmness of your day ❤️ To be a blessing to my family is of utmost importance. I hope to do it gracefully and not shouting orders to everyone, as that just makes us all miserable.
I just finished reading Giver of Stars, based on a recommendation in the comments. Wow! I loved it! Sweet and funny and heartbreaking and triumphant. The author is a true student of realistic human behavior.
Thank you for this today. It's been a harder season of life lately as my girls become little people instead of babies and toddlers. I say little but they're not so much anymore (10 &7). I've also gone back to work part time after 10 years in the home, so adjustments all around! I've been contemplating joining a Bible study as well and you definitely serve as a role model in that regard as well .
Hilary, I am long overdue to say how enjoyable I find your channel. You exude patience and strength in the daily tasks and Im so inspired! Though life looks quite different (we have 4 cats, not kids- but Ive nannied the same family of 4 for 10 yrs). Here in Nebraska (In near Kristen from Council Bluffs!), we experience a lot of the same weather. It's so fun to peek into your life. Keep up the great talent.
👏👏👏👏 well said. My sons are grown and it sure does fly by quickly. I love your encouraging attitude ~ your videos are a blessing to many. Keep on keeping on with the work God has blessed you with. 🥰
I was hoping that in the future you would do another video on your favorite podcasts and why. You introduced me to The Office Ladies, and I love it. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos. : )

Hilary, you said it all in this video. I’m going to go through my day looking at each task, each interruption as a moment to cherish. Thank you!❤️
I cannot tell you how much this encouraged me. I believe and value all of these same things but sometime I just need a gentle reminder.

Hilary, I never tie from watching or in this case RE-Watching your videos. They turly are such a source of comfort and encouragement. Thank you.
Thank you Hilary, needed this video today - was just looking around my house and feeling overwhelmed by the never ending tasks. Could the messes around the house, kids dirty socks, food on the floor, etc be God’s funny little reminders of how truly blessed we are? 😊 I think so! 😊
I remember those days that are so full. You’re a wonderful Mom, wife and homemaker!
❤️~mandy
Love your positive thoughts and always learned alot from you. God bless you and your family.
Your home is beautiful. Enjoy the ordinary days. They pass quickly.
A great reminder that we ALL go through an endless amount of chores! That's just life. Especially when we have kiddos and pets...
Thank you for motivating me and just being such an amazing roll model after all these years on YT. Your videos really bring me so much joy.
Great video and reminds us of what a good attitude looks like and how to appreciate what the world would tell us to gripe about!
I really enjoy your calm approach as the keeper of the home. I agree that we should enjoy each moment that we are in, and cherish them. I have not made sauerkraut but I do make my own kimchi, I enjoy the complex flavors of it. Both are very healthy.
You are wise beyond your age. An old soul to behold! Your children are blessed to have you as their mom!
You are a priceless asset to your family, and the hub of your home!
What a wonderful and encouraging video! I love how you’re not the typical YT mom / influencer. 👏🏽
I love this! I love people saying to be grateful for the season your in! Love love love your channel! Thank you and God bless you and your family!
The laundry never ends, the dishes are never ending and the house will always be messy and loud no matter what stage of life we are in.
This was such a treat to wake up to this morning! Thank you for posting today, it made my morning. ❤️
I loved this style of video. Thank you for the reminders of our roles in our home ♥️
Love this video, thank you for shedding light on my hectic days. Going forward I will try to cherish this home and this mess during this stage of life.
Great inspo. I never had kids so it's just me after my husband died in 2020. I love your videos!
You're a blessing in my life. Your videos bring me peace and remind be to be grateful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the reminders today! Sometimes I get in the grind of day to day life and get frustrated that it never feels “done.” But that’s okay, this season will be fleeting. 😭❤️
I feel you sister ❤️
Thank you for sharing the blessing of homemaking. I was and am a homemaker my whole life. I came up in a time that made you feel as a second class citizen by society. This lie caused me to rebel against my roll and of course only made it harder. I am so happy to see the truth being shared for everyone to take advantage of this most honorable vocation! Good job sister.👏👏👏
Thank you for the reminder that I need to prioritize time for myself!❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Your attitude and comments are so refreshing and positive. Once again, thank you so much for sharing your family life.
Indeed we are all very blessed. Now we are empty nesters but I cherished staying home with our four children. Love your attitude.
The comments on this video are beautiful and are bringing tears knowing how short these days with our babies really are. Much love to everyone ❤️❤️
I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and really needed this. Thank you for doing this video. 😌
Hilary , you are such a blessing ! Not only to your family but , everyone ! Lots of love to you !
🏠❤🏠🇺🇲🙏🥰
Sauerkraut is on my 2022 try it list!! 😂 perfect timing and inspiration! Thank you
Such an amazing blessing to remind ourselves when we feel down or overwhelmed, our “worst days” are something someone, somewhere is praying for as their “good day”.
❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
See you soon!
Thank you so much for your video! It was exactly what I needed this morning! You are a blessing!
This was so joyful and satisfying to watch.....just beautiful , thanks Hilary!
Wow what a day you look great and very happy. I love home making my friend💐💐💐👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙋🏻♀️
You have an inspiring outlook on life and a very beautiful way with words.
Magnificent winter morning. God is good!
All the time!
The Giver of Stars is a fantastic book.
Never thought about putting the sponge in the dishwasher. Nice hack.
'Lamp o'clock' is a lovely time of the day x

You have been an inspiration to me for years!
I was hoping that in the future you would do another video on your favorite podcasts and why. You introduced me to The Office Ladies, and I love it. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos. : )
I always enjoy your videos. You are always inspiring and teaching me to do better. Thank you.
I love the calm of your videos.
Thanks for sharing, and you are so right about filling ourselves spiritually; it helps us serve others. 😊 🙏
