Pink Floyd is named after the bands 2 favorite blues artists, PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. Pink Floyd is the GOLIATH of the entire music industry and has been for 50 years now... they started as a blues based trippy space rock band in England, during the psychadelic 60s, and stayed true to those roots. You can hear it here...blues based and organic yet trippy and otherworldly. It's a combination that goes right to your head like a drug. I'm 64 now and Pink Floyd has been my #1 since I first heard them at 15. Chris you should watch pink Floyd pulse concert. The song one of these days. It will blow your mind. I guarantee you have never seen anything like it. When they finished the song it brought the house down.
Pink Floyd was a British Psychedelic progressive rock band that began their career in 1965. This song came out I'm 1979 on the album The Wall. The band has been my personal favorite since around 73 when The Dark Side of the Moon album came out. I do however remember hearing one of their first songs in the 60's on my little transistor radio...it is titled See Emily Play. You'll love these guys if you find more....they have so much music out there. Unfortunately the keyboardist passed away and the original founder also is gone but he left the band in 1970. The bassist also quit the band in 1983. They are awesome!! Thanks for popping up in my feed.
London, England, 1994 at a 20,000 seater indoor stadium called Earls Court, sold out for 18 straight nights on their farewell tour, 360,000 people paying homage to Pink Floyd, one of the greatest bands of the 20th century. Try "Keep Talking" from the same Pulse concert for more mind expanding pleasure.
I first saw Pink Floyd live at the second British rock gathering, Germersheim, Germany, in May, 1972! Along with over 100,000 people.... To say it was electric would be a gross understatement! 😊
Nice reaction to the greatest slow hand guitarist. Pink Floyd are the masters of taking their time. Enjoy the Floyd journey. Another great band from the same era is YES, and a song called Roundabout off the Fragile album is a great intro. Medication recommended ✨️🎶✨️
As an "older" Pink Floyd fan, if you can do album reviews, The Dark Side of the Moon Or Wish You Were Here Will introduce you to music and lyrics that actually make you think while the instruments take your soul on a trip.
Pink Floyd was established in 1965. And is one of the best bands ever. Before, you had to have talent and be able to play to become a "pop/rock star". It is no longer like that. Enjoyed your reaction. Greetings from Norway. 😀
Anything from this live concert is life changing! I first saw them around 1967 has loved their music ever since. Oh, and David Gilmour is THE Guitar God....and his solos should never be interupted.....try "High Hopes", "On the Turning Away". "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" all live versions. The group have sold over 250 million records worldwide, including 75 million in the United States.
This song is one of the encores so it's at the end of the whole concert. The solo on this video is a shortened version. It's been edited for the DVD. So the actual solo was a minute or so longer. They played another song after this "Run Like Hell"
I’ve listened to the longer “full” version, and I think Gilmour was correct to edit his solo. The extra minute-30 or so doesn’t really add to the solo’s magnificence, and David was a little ‘pitchy’ in the part he removed. When I recommend this performance, I always refer folks to this version, or PF’s Remastered version.

Glad you're enjoying the Pink Floyd reaction. I grew up with this stuff, and still love it today. Just one word of advice. In most rock and metal songs it's considered disrespectful to pause the song in the middle of the guitar. Just something to keep in mind. Enjoy !!!
You HAVE to react to some more Pink Floyd!!! Wish You Were Here, Sorrow, Run Like Hell, Time, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Money, Hey You, Learning to Fly, Us and Them, Coming Back to Life, Have a Cigar, On the Turning Away, The Great Gig in the Sky, and Another Brick in the Wall. Most of these they performed on their Pulse concert so you always want to pick that video! There are so many more...
Great reaction man! You just watched a guitar master in action, David Gilmour doesn't need to play fast, his music speaks right to your soul. Someone once said that Leo Fender created the Fender Stratocaster and God created David Gilmour to play it.
This whole concert is outta control. Any song from it is gonna blow your mind, but at the very least definitely check out Sorrow and Run Like Hell from the same 1994 Pulse concert. The same goes for pretty much any Pink Floyd studio album. Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, A Temporary Lapse of Reason -- just close your eyes and point to any track and it's most likely gonna blow you away. Welcome to the PF rabbit hole. They are a genre of their own, there's nothing else like them. You're in for a long, exciting journey.
@@mranonymoUs23384 as a fan since the 60's knowing their music and name came from "Pink" Anderson & Floyd Council" ( 2 jazz players. all you have to hear they do't play typical 4 beat cords,
Another pink Floyd fan in the making, I'm 70 n been listening to them since i was 14, if you think this is long try "echoes"live in Gdansk it's only 21 mins of pure genius, let's see how far you will go down the rabbit hole that is pink Floyd, enjoy
You're right, it does give a relaxing feel off, and when I listen to them I to close my eyes and just listen to lyrics because they can be very deep. They are know for their laser light shows my two older actually got to see them twice back in the day I was so jealous that they got to see them. And do worry about pausing during David Gilmour solo, I know people get mad but we have all heard it to may time to count and we can always go back a listen to again (like right know). Anyway they have been around since the late 60's and their album Dark side of the Moon came out the year I was born (1973) so yes they have been around a little while. Other song to check out would be Another Brick in the Wall, Hey You, Time, Money, Wish you were here, and Learning to fly.
A few years back, guitarist David Gilmour sold a large portion of his guitar collection to raise money for charity. One of his guitars, the "Black Strat" sold for a world record of almost $4,000,000. Their 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon, has spent a total of almost 1000 weeks on the billboard 200 album chart. I consider them to be a genre of their own.
As I watched your reaction, I just knew you were gonna get torched for pausing during David Gilmour's solo. Man, was I right about that. LOL The appreciation that was on your face made up for it. Don't worry about the pauses. We all understand. If you get the chance, pick out Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and listen to it from start to finish. No stops. This is how most of us came to love this band. I saw them back in the mid-70's. It was an amazing show. I've listened to them for well over 50 years. They still give me goosebumps, chills, and they still make me tear up. There's nothing else like them.
Welcome to the world of Pink Floyd, Seen this tour twice & it was Amazing! Great reaction! However it's a cardinal sin to pause a David Gilmour Solo!!!
Comfortably numb is one of most common form of emotional self-protection mechanism, a way to deal with emotions that can become overwhelming in our day by day life, in a way aching the same numbness like when you drink to drown your pain
# 2 all time worldwide in sells "Dark side of the Moon" album. on the charts for 948 wks.. this is their last concert after 14 days in a row sold out. Be care many people have fallen in the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. David Gikmour to me is the best guitar player who doesn't slam a whole bunch of notes . Best listen is with the lights out, headphones and a BIG fatty.
Having seen this concert two evenings in a row at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal in 1994, I can affirm that the video of this song (although it is breathtaking), does not capture all the magic that reigned in the stadium at that moment.
The crazy thing also is how insanely good they are live. David Gilmore is just on another level. No, he is not a technical wizard like Steve Vai or a shredder like Michael Angelo Batio, but the feeling of his solos is second to none! The only one I can think of that comes close is Frank Zappa! Oh yeah, and Jimi Hendrix!
G'day Chris, glad you felt the Pink Floyd vibe. Their billions of fans all feel that same vibe, and many strong men still tear up at the first notes of many of their songs. This was the 2nd encore of the recorded concert after over 2 and a half hours of this quality of live music. Now i could suggest you listen to the next song, the final song to close the concert, to see the contrast in the feel and vibe between Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell, or suggest you do Shine On You Crazy Diamond next.......ah, but no. I suggest you download the lyrics for Time, then listen to Time and The Great Gig In The Sky together as one song in 2 parts, from the original CD or vinyl first , because that is the best version of The Great Gig , a song with vocals that will blow your mind.
Brother, fate or kismet has brought you to one of the greatest concert performances ever recorded. The PULSE concert is LEGENDARY. Choose any song from this show to review, every single song was excellent. I know, I saw this tour. This song is from Floyd’s concept double-album “The Wall”, which tells the story of a fictional young boy named Pink, who wants to grow up and become a rock star. The album centers on the walls we build to protect ourselves, and how those walls can become a prison. This song is about how Pink, trapped by his own success, turns to drugs to numb his pain and loneliness. If the song sounds like there’s more behind the lyrics, that’s because there is. Pink Floyd doesn’t write love songs; they write albums. And their albums are designed to have one break - in the middle, to flip the vinyl. Each song flows out of the last one, and into the next one. If you really want to experience Pink Floyd - and they absolutely ARE an experience - you have to pick an album, and listen to it from start to finish. And if you do choose to listen to an album, that album needs to be their legendary “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. It was released in 1973 and is STILL on Billboard Magazine’s Hot 200 records list. Last time I looked it had been on there for 900-some weeks. It’s the fourth highest-selling album in the history of the world. It’s been preserved by the US Library of Congress. It’s worth your time. If you explore PF further - and you should - you’ll find that they write about death, time, money, things that are common to us all. Their lyrics make you think. They stay with you. Pink Floyd is a worthy rabbit hole to go down, brother.
Great reaction. Wait until you hear the songs Sorrow, High Hopes, Inside out, Keep Talking, Great Gig In The Sky. So many great songs. Enjoy your trip down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole . You discovered a great band. David Gilmour is a master guitarist. 😊
Loved your reaction my friend, and welcome to rabbit hole that is Pink Floyd! But here is something to consider for your next PF reaction ... imagine you were in the crowd that evening and Gilmour and the band had just launched into what is surely one of the most beautifully powerful and emotive guitar solos ever recorded - only have them completely stop every couple of minutes to share with the audience what they think of how the music is going so far! Do you get my meaning? Sure, we all understand that you have to pause sometimes, but here is a general rule of thumb ... NEVER interrupt a David Gilmour solo! Enjoy your PF journey. Next stop - try SORROW from the same concert! :O)
Surprise!! You just landed on the best band ever, and the no 1 guitar solo of all time. I loved your reaction and don’t mind the pauses. I rejoice in younger people discovering them, and that’s it. It’s not like you have a PF guide sitting next to you lol. 🤷🏻♀️
Money. Time. Us and Them. Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Echoes (Live from Pompeii). Dogs. Pigs. Sheep. What Do You Want From Me. Learning to Fly. Mother. Hey You. Another Brick in the Wall (part 2, there are three). Welcome to the Machine. Keep Talking. Marooned. Wearing the Inside Out. Run Like Hell. Sorrow.
A friendly reminder, since you're new to Pink Floyd, there are regulations about interrupting David's solo. You could get stoned! The big disco ball is highly symbolic. First of all, it wasn't seen until the lights spotted it. It was simply not there! Hidden in a box in the ceilling. So when it got lit, you can understand why the audience went wild. And then, when it opened up and showed the shining diamond that's inside, a direct reference to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which refer to Syd Barrett), the fans understood! Genius! A Pink Floyd song, by its own, is generaly very hard to fully comprehend. To get a good understanding, you really have to listen to the full album, from begining to end.
Pink Floyd strikes a good balance between high energy (which they can do with the best of them) and relaxed power (don't know how else to put it; maybe there's a better way of saying it); their sweet spot tends to be in the balancing of a lot of sounds and keeping the composition interesting, without hurrying. Definitely check out "Time" for another well-balanced song (either the album version or from this concert, Pulse)!
Pink Floyd laser light show at the planetarium. Griffith Park Observatory LA. 40 years ago. Did some research to see if they were still doing it…. they are!!!
If there was ever a book titled “The Correct Way to Make a Hit Rock Song,” Pink Floyd threw that book in the fireplace, then flushed the ashes down the toilet, and then chased those with a bottle of acid, just for good measure. There are no rules to Pink Floyd songs. Listening to their music, is to enter a different universe.

Pink Floyd was established in 1965. And is one of the best bands ever. Before, you had to have talent and be able to play to become a "pop/rock star". It is no longer like that. Enjoyed your reaction. Greetings from Norway. 😀
50 years ago Pink Floyd were already 200 years ahead of everybody!
@@yelnikigwawa1845 I will agree with you on that.
Oh, they got more music. They started in 1965.
Maybe one or two songs more.
😝
220,000 watt sound system
Glitter ball over 15 ft. in diameter
Laser were a new experimental design
PF cornered the entire worlds supply at the time
3 separate stage sets
700 tons of gear transported on53 articulated trucks
Road crew of 161
Used an Antonov military cargo plane plus 2 cargo Boeing 747s
At least that's what I've read before.
Glad you're enjoying the Pink Floyd reaction. I grew up with this stuff, and still love it today. Just one word of advice. In most rock and metal songs it's considered disrespectful to pause the song in the middle of the guitar. Just something to keep in mind. Enjoy !!!
Enjoy this Pink Floyd journey! Ignore the trolls. It's not like we haven't heard this song before. Just for half a century!
they have playing since the 60s. One of These Days
Welcome to Pink Floyd!! Wanna hear the most perfect 11 minutes of music ever made? “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” is my favorite song of theirs.
Pink Floyd was formed in 1965. They're one of the greatest.
Great song. I grew up with it and still have it in my playlist. 🥰
Great reaction man! You just watched a guitar master in action, David Gilmour doesn't need to play fast, his music speaks right to your soul. Someone once said that Leo Fender created the Fender Stratocaster and God created David Gilmour to play it.
From the same 1994 Pulse collection, please check out SORROW, and also RUN LIKE HELL.
"Comfortably Numb" is from the album The Wall which came out in 1979. Pink Floyd goes back to the mid 1960's
Pink Floyd is an english rock band, they started in the 1960's!
P.F. is not rock & roll they are in their own genre
@@jim1125-cv6yg he said rock band...
@@mranonymoUs23384 as a fan since the 60's knowing their music and name came from "Pink" Anderson & Floyd Council" ( 2 jazz players. all you have to hear they do't play typical 4 beat cords,
@@jim1125-cv6yg i was born yesterday and i knew that..
@@mranonymoUs23384 you knew but you didn't know that Roger did not OD
I knew it! He interrupts a guitar solo - and one of the greatest ever done! WHO DOES THAT?
Pink Floyd “Shine on you Crazy Diamond (I-V)”. You can take it from same Pulse concert or original album version.
This concert took place 30 years ago in 1994. 3 of the performers onstage were with Pink Floyd since the 1960s
You have a massive catalog to be mesmerized and blown away with!!!
As I watched your reaction, I just knew you were gonna get torched for pausing during David Gilmour's solo. Man, was I right about that. LOL
The appreciation that was on your face made up for it.
Hell lol, i saw Floyd before you were even born. 77' the 'Animals' tour😁🎸🤘Enjoy your Pink Floyd journey
Great reaction…every tune from this Pulse Concert is amazing and is a must hear ❤
If you want a small example how popular Pink Floyd is. Check out how long the album Dark Side of the Moon was on the top 200 of the charts.
Welcome to the world of Pink Floyd, Seen this tour twice & it was Amazing! Great reaction! However it's a cardinal sin to pause a David Gilmour Solo!!!
I heard someone once say, “Every guitar hopes he gets David Gilmour for Christmas.” 😊
New prescriber because ya'll are listing to Pink Floyd
Think that's intense. I was at that concert in 94, and my honeymoon wife and I divorced long ago, but I'll never forget that show.
Pink Floyd have been filling stadium since the mid 1970's. You are listening to masters of their craft, respect must be shown.
All good things come to those who wait.
My Opinion, This is the best Guitar Solo ever Recorded live
what you were feeling, you said the first word, comfortably then say numb. There you go.
Having seen this concert two evenings in a row at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal in 1994, I can affirm that the video of this song (although it is breathtaking),
does not capture all the magic that reigned in the stadium at that moment.
Pulse concert sorrow pink floyd
Check out their song "Sorrow" from the PULSE concert.
You really should watch the pulse concert. It's life changing.
Experience Wish You Were Here sometime. (1975) The entire album is an experience. My favorite, for what it's worth.
Pausing on THE solo!
🇨🇦 1979 Dude ! #BoomersRock 🇨🇦
Surprise!! You just landed on the best band ever, and the no 1 guitar solo of all time. I loved your reaction and don’t mind the pauses. I rejoice in younger people discovering them, and that’s it. It’s not like you have a PF guide sitting next to you lol. 🤷🏻♀️
the some came out in 1979
NEVER EVEN stop a solo !!
Was there. Was phenomenal.
Money. Time. Us and Them. Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Echoes (Live from Pompeii). Dogs. Pigs. Sheep. What Do You Want From Me. Learning to Fly. Mother. Hey You. Another Brick in the Wall (part 2, there are three). Welcome to the Machine. Keep Talking. Marooned. Wearing the Inside Out. Run Like Hell. Sorrow.
Oh God how could I forget .. The Great Gig in the Sky.

Did some research to see if they were still doing it…. they are!!!
Harry Nilsson "Jump into the fire"
They've been around since the 70s
You just listened too e of the greatest guitarist on the planet! David Gilmore takes you on a journey. No need for shredding…. Just raw emotion!
watch them live in Pompeii 1972...Lol...Echoes
I'm subscribing just out of curiosity. I'm interested in seeing where you take this Punk Floyd journey...
❤😊
Never cut a guitar solo.
It’s stupid…
If there was ever a book titled “The Correct Way to Make a Hit Rock Song,” Pink Floyd threw that book in the fireplace, then flushed the ashes down the toilet, and then chased those with a bottle of acid, just for good measure.
There are no rules to Pink Floyd songs. Listening to their music, is to enter a different universe.
I've never heard anyone that's able to figure this song out so early in the game. Most people think it's about drug use, it's not.
