@ buddy, if he is an illegal immigrant, chances are he didn’t come in legally. That’s literally what makes them illegal. If he came with a visa and overstayed it, it still takes 8 years to POSSIBLY become a citizen. And in the mean time you can be deported at any moment. If he came here by crossing the border, which he most likely did, there is no option for him along with 99% of illegal immigrants.

17 years ago because he overstayed his visa and didn't know English that somehow supposed to give him a right to stay. He learned English eventually he had kids and according to you he's a productive member of society so why didn't he go down when Joe Biden got in and file for a protected status so that he could stay and prove that he had a daughter that was here and be able to get some type of citizenship it's been 4 years since Joe Biden took office and is now gone why didn't he go down in that time and get any type of status he would have already been seen in front of a judge and had his case heard and he would have been allowed to stay because of his daughter but he didn't want to go down there he wanted to just skirt the system and this is what happens. Nobody feels bad for him. We're not going to feel bad when people are on here crying he had 17 years to make it right and he never went down once to try to do it. So because he didn't know what to do he just did nothing.that's no excuse. He could have called and they would have spoken to him in spanish. Immigration when you call has prompts for tons of different languages but because he didn't speak English he didn't call give me a break no one feels a bad he needs to stay in Mexico until he can get legal status here. And if he can't and his wife and kids miss him so much they can go move to Mexico to be with him.

Tabbi, you were aiding and abetting a criminal. Thank you ICE for doing your job. Keep up the good work. Question, were their kids on medicaid, WIC or any type of welfare? The father was getting paid under the table? Or did the father have a W-2?

They most likely were on Welfare. My neighbor down the road work for cash. Woman cleans houses, and husband works for a corporate farm, off the books. I've seen the woman use an EBT card several times at our local Food Lion. Rural living, everyone knows everyone, to some extent.

If the mother's legally here, she could get WIC or the food stamps, but there'd be no way he could, unless he stole somebody's social security number, either way, he should be charged with a crime and be sent back to or it came from or so don't rip the family apart. Go to prison for ten years. And then when he gets out, have to pay back all the back taxes for being paid under the table

I am not sure that legally 17 years in the country has anything to do with this case! It only proves that officials in the past did not do their job! A legal pathway is provided for in the immigration process. If you chose to come here illegally and short circuit the process and get deported that deportation is a consequence of your actions. I don't remember who said this but 200+ years ago an important man in history said something equivalent to this, "If you use emotion in your enforcement of the law rather than following the law you will have chaos in the streets!" If you have any doubt about the validity of this statement look at what has been going on at our Southern border in recent years! Illegal immigration has to be dealt with and there are going to be some sad cases. However we have a lot of sad cases on the other side and not dealing with this problem has even worse consequences. Look at the drugs pouring over the border, the Laken Riley murder and so many other things prove the need to deport immediately all illegal aliens. If immediate deportation is followed nobody will have family here to be upset and feel they were wronged somehow. Have judges at the border and hear the cases within hours or at least within a few days. It would be more humane for all to have quick adjudication of any immigration claims!
