Just added this to the Carpetbagger Google Map and saw that it was right across the street from the old Mansfield Penitentiary where they filmed Shawshank Redemption.
I live in Mississippi and we have a lot of Coffindaffer crosses as well as the new big ones all over the state.
I’m not religious but I am a sucker for old school wax attractions. Also the Old Testament stories remind me of childhood Sunday school. I love it!

The scene of hell just hit hard. I had a dream as a little girl about hell and it rocked me so bad I still can’t share it without severe panic attacks. It is a place no one EVER wants to be. God sent me that nightmare to show me I am the one who can change the fate of me and as many as I can reach in life. I pray as you watch this that you are thankful and merciful for the pain and suffering Jesus went through so we had a chance to sit in his kingdom and never have to experience that horrible place. Thank you Jesus and god for the things you have done to make sure I stay true to you and the impact I can have on others to just let you love them the way you love me.

Jacob, I am surprised you didn't show the prison a half mile down the road that was used in Shawshank Redemption. There is probably a comparison there about the folks who were in their own type of prison of addiction, etc. before coming to Jesus.

So, I would say i have a contentious stance with organized religion. But, I appreciate your respect towards the wax figures and the museums in general you visit. Being snarky and condescending only creates more disconnect. When i was growing up, i often would cite the famous quote, “ i May disagree with your beliefs, but i would die to protect your right to have them.” Obviously i am summarizing, but you get the jest. By the way, I’m a resident of Las Vegas, and I’m curious if you have ever been to the Little Alien? it’s a restaurant near area 51? it’s outside of Vegas in the vast desert. Also, there is a hotel gee i can’t think of the name of the town, but it’s a clown themed hotel built next to a graveyard from the 1800s somewhere in upper Nevada. Finally, if you go to southern California again, there is a Museum built by scientology ( lol) i believe it’s called Museum of Psychiatry anyway it’s basically a propaganda smear job in regards to psychology and psychiatry and apparently the few people who do visit are tourists who are lost in Hollywood or teenagers dropping acid and walk around laughing. But, i’m sincerely curious what they have in there. And, yes Dolly Parton is amazing, regardless of conservative or liberal most Americans are working class and to see someone who came from such poverty be able to move out of that environment and retain their humility and give back is qualities i think most Americans can appreciate.

Carpetbagger, if you like small amusement parks, you should visit Green Bay Wisconsin and come to Bay Beach Amusement Park. Very small, but nice, and tickets are still only 25 cents. Also, the roller coaster there was Elvis Presley’s favorite roller coaster.
Not to be a stickler bit the 3 wise men didn’t show up until Jesus was a 2-3 year old. Also there were more than 3 “magi” but we always assume 3 just because of the gifts of “gold, frankincense and myrrh”. The Magi, or wise men, were from Persia, they were actually Chaldeans. The Gold represents Jesus as King of kings 👑 and Lord of Lords. The frankincense was a temple fragrance used in worship, because His life was to be a “Fragrance” and invite people to Gods kingdom. The myrrh was a bitter spice, because Jesus was to suffer and taste the bitterness of death and suffering, and ultimately take our sin Debt to the cross. That’s where He made the way for ALL OF US TO COME TO HIM FOR SALVATION! Praise God!

I grew up as Protestant and converted to catholic as an adult. It has always surprised me how Catholicism gives the Old Testament the brush-off. The old stories teach lessons.
