Definitely bring it to a gig, even if you don't play it, just for your band mates' reactions 😅 You totally made that little guitar's existence worthy with your playing - well done, J-Man!
I don`t know about those but the mini p-bass is a winner. I have gone through the one I have. LaBella makes special flat strings and they are great! Happy camper....
The mini, duo sonic, and the Fender Juniors are actually great guitars for players who have finger issues, degenerative arthritis, etc. Cool for kids too, I guess, but who cares about kids?!! Short scale can be pretty cool, though.
@@stephanpeters3875 hahaha thanks man. I'll try. I have parts ordered for it if they are here in time I may be able to get it ready for Saturday's gig!
@@j-man9457 You could even play it at a Christmas gig or something, then give it to whatever child is really rockin' out (with mama's OK, of course). It would be like when the Foo Fighters gave that kid who played Enter Sandman a guitar. If you haven't seen that clip, look it up!
sweet lil unit! them minis are meaner than most think...i have a monoprice "mini cali" which is a mini strat clone... its HS model which ive swapped out the pups with a real fender grey bottom "65" model on the neck and a peavey humbucker on the bridge which is my very 1st proper coilsplit job... that lil puppy has 7 tone options even with 2 pups! its a beast!
@@j-man9457 hekk yaa brother! might need to do a "re visit" on my mini cali... the thing actually sounds like a tele on the outer coil of the humbucker! and when ya add the neck it has that tele chirp as well!
I have that exact guitar, and I have done everything to it. I made my own string through bridge by carefully drilling holes in it, then mounting it on the guitar and using it as a guide, and drill through the body, on a drill press, then install Ferrells. It worked great, and the holes came out perfectly aligned. I also don't use the string trees, as there is plenty of break angle without them. The short scale of this makes for a fun blues guitar, as the low string tention allowes easy, and expressive bending. Along with a line 6 pocket pod, and Rolland battery powered micro cube amp, I play in the car, and the boat, it makes for a fun travel guitar.
The semi closed tuners that are available for fender or squires end up a phone have a slightly different footprint so look for one that's for fender if you're going to replace them
I just happen to have a Strat-type guitar here that I built from a kit many years ago, which has those exact same kind of tuners on it. They’re not the greatest. Gosh, that one you have looks either like a kid’s toy or a ukulele! 😂

J - I’ve been talking to Torsten a Tease about having you do a review & he said it was already in the works. Are you getting the new E series Tele? You’d be one of the first to review it.
@johnjolly9519 yup he said the latest model. He's still waiting on them... Hopefully by the end of this month! 🤞 I told him I was looking for a M-Musi killer hahaha
Someone gifted me one of these a couple years ago, it’s a great little travel guitar. However I’m gonna gift it this year to my friend’s young son. Maybe in a few years when the kid is a master player I’ll upgrade him to a full sized strat.
@J-Man - I think you could take any guitar, fix it up, and play brilliantly on it! I'd bought a mini Strat over 25 years ago ($99 new), and found that its heavier strings, possibly required for tuning stability, weren't to my liking. The Steinberger Spirit became my travel guitar due to its full length scale, and stable trem - it cost 2 1/2 times more though.
@ Didn’t know that - they’re still available although not sure about their current build quality vs 20 years ago. I found my bridge eventually developed wear issues, and parts are hard to find and expensive!
@TechnoRiff Well not sure if they are still available. This is an old one. It's cool but would be nice if fender didn't cut so many corners. I ordered some parts off of Amazon. New bridge and string through body plate. I think it should bolt right on but we'll see hahaha
Just because it's a cheap little guitar does mean it's bad. It's the little strat that could, and did. Why go for a Fender Custom Shop when you could make music on that for a tenth of the cost.
