- Major Similarities Between Disney's Cruella 2021 And The Original 101 Dalmatian Movie!
The 2021 version of Cruella is here - and we are loving seeing the differences and similarities between this iteration and every other time we’ve seen the 101 Dalmatians story come to life. In this video, we’re taking a look at all the different Cruella’s, from Betty Lou Gerson in the original animated version from 1961, to Glenn Close’s epic take on the role in the 1996 live-action and of course, Emma Stone’s version of the supervillain and her other self, Estella. We’ve always known Cruella to be a dog hater, the 2021 live-action offers us a different perspective as Cruella seems to be anything BUT a dog hater! What we do get to see in each version is the classic Dalmatian-napping!
The darling’s are back - and this time Anita’s last name is ACTUALLY “Darling”. Anita and Roger still hear the usual beckons from Cruella, but Anita is more of a friend and we get to see a much deeper relationship between the two - from their first meeting as children to their collaboration as Estella becomes Cruella. As for Roger, he and Cruella have as rough a relationship as ever - so much so that Roger begins composing Cruella songs already.
Jasper and Horace play a much more important role in the 2021 version than before - especially since we see their dynamic with Cruella was quite different from the get go. Instead of the usual boss and her henchmen relationship, we get three friends so close that they’ve become family.
While the 2021 live-action tells a brand new, standalone story, we’re glad we still get references to classic moments we’ve known before.

Emma Stone absolutely nailed this role.
I agree she did amazing!
She did marvelous
NO CRUELLA IS CRUEL
@@marlajoseph2187 there talking about the actor who plays cruella in the movie not the character don’t confuse them
@@marlajoseph2187 shut up kid
My two favourite lines in the movie were:
“That’s psycho cannot be my mother” and
“I want to make art Artie and I want to make trouble”
Mine was “Well I don’t know that yet I’m still young”🤌🏽
Mine was not a line but her entire monologue after the revelation✨
@The Chatterbox Oh YES I love that one
Mine was “ I’m not her, I’m better “
I love all of these lines plus this little bit (taken from the novelization because I can't remember the movie monologue):
"'But the truth is I'm not sweet Estella, try as I might. I never was.' As she went on, her voice became steadier, stronger, more self-assured. 'I'm Cruella. Born brilliant, born bad, and maybe a little mad. That's me, but I'm not like her. I'm better.'"
I honestly love the "beaded" cocoon dress, like the trojan horse of fashion.
That was my favorite scene from the movie!
I crackled when the moths DESTROYED the dresses!😂😂😈
I’m so glad I didn’t see the trailer, that would have ruined that part. It was so cool
I remember pulling my boyfriend arm and whispering to him: "that is no beads, they are cocoon of a moth!"
@@Silvershadow8917 I honestly didn't know they were cocoons until the end 😂
This scene was totally wrong because moths doesn't eat clothes. Only larves do.
I just saw Cruella yesterday and it was sooooooooooo good!! Emma Stone is an amazing actress and brings so much life to Cruella
Oml I knowwww
You saw Emma stone in real life? Known her since the amazing spiderman she really is a good actress
@@gamerx4lifw766 I think I said it wrong, no I did not meet Emma Stone irl even though it's a dream of mine
@@gamerx4lifw766 obviously not. They meant they saw the film yesterday
Just saw it today
I think The Cruella in 2021 was the best and Emma Stone nailed it
Agreed
Not the best, the original is the definition on the character
@@Necromancy1 I disagree. The new movie showcases Cruella as a bada*s, independent and strong woman. It’s better.
@@annabelwestwood6192 this includes in the original. The original shows more villainy
@@Necromancy1 I know but this is more prompt and cool and kind of shows feminism, if you get what I mean. Plus, the villainous original movies have smoking and cruelty to animals. i prefer this version because the clothes and amazing and the acting was superb.
But Emma Thompson nailed the sassy and devilfish baroness
Oh indeed she did 💕 she was fabulous
I’m about to question 101 Dalmatians for you xD, the three original dogs ( 2 ofc but idk which two) had babies, pingo and I think perdita, and yes they are siblings, soooooooo that’s awkward but yeah
Emma Stone brought life to the character of Cruella
The original actress did that
@@National7575 yes, but Emma stone’s made her seem human
@@dougy_dawg ig but the point of the character is she’s not human and a devil
I loved both films though
@@National7575 that’s not the point of the character. She may be a devil, but she’s still human.
“That Devil Woman”
@@dougy_dawg yes,she’s a devil and evil,no humanity to her
I love how cruella/estella was literally born partially evil. I think Emma was amazing at playing both personalities and deserves an award.
Omg, we're twinning with the pfps- lol.

My wife said she wanted to see this so I went in to the theater no expectations (our first theater trip since the COVID shut down). I have never seen the 1996 version and probably last saw the animated version in the 70s. I was blown away by this movie - the story, the visuals, the fashion, the acting, and the soundtrack!! What a soundtrack!! What a perfect use of The Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog."
Emma Stone's accent had me pulled towards watching it again!
Honestly , I entered the cinema with little to no expectations, and boy was this movie absolutely fantastic!
This is such a good movie
These dogs, that they used for Cruella 2021, are either really cute or, if it's the dalmatians, they're beautiful.
They’re purebred Dalmatians! :)
They’re hard to look at cgi
“Yes aren’t they gorgeous and vicious”
@@noufalbraihi my favorite kind
Wink and Horace were amazing! I love them both! "You getting kissed... RIGHT ON THE MOUTH AND I DONT CARE WHERE IS BEEN!!"
Horace is hilarious!!
“People could actually ship cruella”

@Eriona Pillow anita gets a husband bro, that would mess it up the entire plot of 101 dalmations, i can see her with jasper cuz hes like the only one that sees her sweet side
@@yo5604 true i mean i guess i could see it
8:01 I love how she says “first time around” as there’s a store in the background that says second time around lol
Actually, the only time a “Cruella” did make a Dalmatian Coat is in the Once Upon a Time episode, and I’m kinda glad the other three didn’t do it so to speak... I still get nightmares from that episode
Same😭
I loved the once upon a time cruella she's the best live action cruella in my opinion (she was truly evil, manipulative and well written but im exited to see how crazy this one will get in cruella 2
I saw that too and I didn’t even believe it cause we NEVER see it! But I LOVED that scene! Especially when we see her hair color change because of the ink!
@@Kcb_creationsI loved her too o my god! I have to watch 101/102 Dalmatians with Glenn close to see which cruella is my favorite, but for now I’m leaning towards the one in once upon a time or Emma stone!
You all show scenes that are not actually in the movie unless they are in the ending credits. I vaguely remember the 101 Dalmatians story since I was born in the 80's and also vaguely remember the 1996 version but I do appreciate this being up because the cruella movie was soo good it made curious on the prior versions.
She still a queen of style tho👀💖
The live-action remakes centered on Glenn Close, whose spirited performance brought Cruella de Vil to unforgettable life and earned the movies solid reviews despite their humdrum stories. Then years later, another version of the villain arrived on-screen in the form of Emma Stone's Cruella with an amazing performance.
I dont know why but the scene you showed at the end of the video stood out to me the most from the movie
the whole design she had that scene especially the words "the future" she had across her face and glow in the dark paint were all amazing
I loved this movie, it was really good and Emma Stone simply nailed it, but I can't see it as a prequel, there are many similarities but the differences are even more notable, like they took many things from the animated film and others from the 1996 live-action, so It's a kind of mix. I think it's more of a new Cruella rather than an origin story, since I think that a whole new story could be told now, starting with this film. They already said that they'd make a sequel to this film, so I think we could see a whole new version of the 101 Dalmatians story we already know.
I really hope they make a part 2, Emma Stone is my favorite actor
I think if disney made a sequel they would ruin it
Laughs at malificent 2
they already announced emma stone signed on for a part 2
As QrazedGaming said, Emma Stone signed up for a sequel. Hopefully they break from the past and don't do another version of the animated 101 Dalmatians.
They are at some point with how it ended
I haven't seen the Cruella movie yet but I am getting so many story ideas! So cool!
Glenn Close was the best
I also found it really interesting that Anita was played by someone who was so completely different from the original version of her in the 2021 version
If a black character was turned white, people would nag
You missed out one version of Cruelly lol the Once Upon A Time version that version actually did make a coat from her mothers dalmatian also in that version she is much more evil compared to the other versions in my opinion anyways
Cruella in the new film was supposed to be her in her early stages of evil before she started to kill dogs so that’s why she isn’t as evil as the original one
Once upon a time cruella is in my opinion the best live action cruella to date, but im exited to see how crazy this cruella will get in cruella 2 (once upon a time had very good character in general its just an amazing tv show)
i think the first movie will show how she descended into evilness, but the second one will show her as cruel and all her evil actions
@@wandasairconditioner4781 personally I think the OUAT version was better I mean abusive mother who kept her in line with her dalmation dogs and in the show they said that Cruella was always insane because she posioned her own dad also the way she killed her mother and her dogs was so damn twisted
Amazing video 👍
"Accidents will happen"
It's okay Cruella, we understand your bitterness🖤🤍
I think the 1960's is the best one.
Think about it, green smoke from Cruella's cigarette?
The mysteries evil laugh? Her charm?
Jenny Beaven gave the movie a museum full of spectacular costumes, and the characters ROCKED them!
that tiny dog was so skilled............
I loved that she still drove bad and with her back a little curved
Oh... I loved this movie very much.
My favourite moment was when Estella says, you are my family to Jasper and Horace.
I love cruella and 101 dalmations and Emma stone just nailed the role! And love your channel!!!
What? Why did Disney ban smoking? it's part of Cruella always! This is wrong at all counts
The movie was probably meant to be for everyone which includes kids
Cruella isn't cruella without her long pipe holder, I'm not happy that they cut it out.
@@fernandoramirez1457 it’s ironic because back in the old days kids could smoke in Disney and other movies. Good times
Because kids would watch it
They would prob get sued in this time, that time people didn't care if kids smoked or not
@@aflower6955 Well smoking and drinking are part of life. Kids would see it in real life on the streets and learn it. Cruella is a badass dialing a phone with her pipe stick.
You got the Dalmatian section all wrong.
1. Pongo was given to Robert and Perdida was given to Anita Darling.
2. The birth mother of Pongo and Perdida is the Dalmatian who lives with Cruella.
So if you actually payed attention to the credits at the end, you would understand better.
Im more weirded out that Pongo and perdida are siblings.. they didnt specify that they are siblings but one of cruellas henchmen said that one of the dogs was a bit fat at the end. (The hell hall scene) right before pongo and perdita were given away.
Genghis was pregnant as Horace asks if she gained weight at the end of the movie.
@@PienSkiffa Its a backstory, which makes it a prequel. Prequel with alot of flaws. But in a standalone movie its awesome.
@@PienSkiffa still, if it was a backstory to cruella, why giving robert pongo and perdida to anita. Thats a thing that doesnt make any sense, those 2 dogs are siblings and would later on get alot of puppies.
love it!
mostly for when she doing design stuff and when dog doing some action
I hope there is going to be a Cruella 2🥰🥰
Agreed
There will be they’re already working on it
Is it just me or does jasper as a kid kinda look like Bruno mars
Nah he looks like Oscar from the Office
Ugh I just watched this movie and I LOVE her backstory!!
Super cool!I love You videos
I love the burn away cloak and I want to figure out how to make it ! ❤️
Omg sameee
Glenn close actually scared with her cruella laugh when I was kid
That’s the thing I noticed in the comments everyone loves this new version. I need a villain that scares the crap out of me 😂
OML, YOUR A LIFE SAVER
You forgot the Once Upon A Time Cruella she absolutely NAILED the role it was insane! Though I loved the 2021 film a lot, it's amazing! :)
Wish Jasper and Horace were more comical in cruella like they were in the original animated movie
Emma stone really did an excellent performance of Cruella she nailed it
I'm defo gonna watch this soon
1st I love your videos so much.❤️❤️
sad disney has this kind of rule on their movies now (2015 - later) that there will be no smoking on pg movies
But isn't this movie 12+
@@indiblocken5711 yuh its pg 13
If you think about it in the original film she didn't hate the dogs, she just really really likes fur coats
0:01 cruella looked at me
I was in love with Wink 😂🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣😍
I still need to see the new Cruella movie!! It looks so good.
This movie is my new obsession 😆👑
Emma Stone is my favorite version of Cruella DeVille
All cruellas is incredible actresses costumes on each one is beautiful fabulous performances
i watched cruella today and saw this video and i am'in love with 2021 cruella
This was an unexpected but great movie!! Emma Stone nailed this role!!👏👏👏
Glenn Close will be my favorite Cruella forever 🖤🤍
Madam,Emma stone looks
Fancy and I LOVE the way she act like the original Cruella she look soooo good at the dalmatian coat
I’m just hoping they make another sequel to this coz it’s one of the best Disney movies I’ve actually seen ngl but it’s not only Emma Stone is my fave actress I absolutely loved the story plot and the drama and revenge it’s so good my fave but had to be when cruella and the baroness was having a fashion duel and cruella put on that show with the dalmation outfit honestly it’s such an amazing movie I’m defo buying the dvd when it’s out
Yeah I completely agree. I just thought that it was fantastic. and for me personally, it’s my second favorite movie of the year so far.
Is cruela in the same timeline from once upon a time cruela?
I just watched it and it wws amazing Emma Stone really nailed this one .
In the old ver, those 2 characters were more like hired henchmen
In the reckless driving scene. That you guys showed us it sounded like the music playing was a Selena Quintanilla song
Only word I can think of is interesting I hope I can see it some how.I mean going to theatere isent the best during COVID.But I hope I see it havent yet.
I wanna see a 101 Dalmatians remake
I can see why so many people don't like this new version of Cruella. I guess it's weird to see the villain you grew up to change like that, and it's true that this Cruella isn't like the original one. However, and I say this as someone who doesn't usually like these movies (Harley Quinn type etc), this movie was really good. Emma's expressions were perfect, and she was obviously having an incredible time. Her shows were great and I myself couldn't wait to see what she would do next. All the characters were enjoyable and apart from minor hiccups the plot flowed nicely. As an origin I don't know, but as a standalone film I give it about an 8/10.
Jasper and Horice are faithful to Cruella in the 2021 version because they knew her as a kid
What I loved about Cruella the film is that it left the potential for her to only get darker/evil. It wasn’t a complete rewrite of the character the way maleficent was (I’m not bashing maleficent but it would’ve been better if wicked hadn’t already beaten them to the punch). I also loved that it was a story of revenge rather than forgiveness (Which is wonderful) and heroics. That was a brilliant way Of getting us on the characters side while at the same time keeping her on brand.
I just watched Cruella last night. Movie was way better than I thought it was gonna be. Highly recommend
i think if they are planning to have Cruella 2 they might show us on how she became so obsessed with fur then 101 dalmatians as the final film
Did cruella give them the puppies in the original?
Wow they're really trying to make the audience detach from loving the dalmations & Anita and Rodger.
THIS WAS A GREAT MOVIE, ALL THE PLOT TWIST ITS AMAZING
Imagine getting a heart from The Things 😊 love your videos 😄 Early !!!!!
Hi ❤️
I watched this a day after if came out!
Her dna was crazy at the first place, so it is kind of relieving.
1:08 those laughs sound nothing alike.
i love Cruella, i hope she becomes more villainous in the sequel
Emma Stone made the outfits SPOT ON!
The reason they’re obedient in Cruella is probably because they know they killed her adoptive mother so the Dalmatians become her pets
One of the dalmatians was pregnant in the movie and
In the end of the movie when they enter their new house Horus and Jasper noticed that she had gained weight and then that leads to Pongo and Perdita
Its literally obvious
Yes I love that they stayed true to the original story and ‘made it make sense’ with the timeline
The house of Baroness in the 2021 version becomes the house of Devil seen in the 1996 version
No matter how many real action are made for 101 Dalmatian they are always good
Emma nailed this role becoz she's a great actress and that English accent clearly have come easily to her.
No live actor can EVER hold a candle to the original animated villain - she was a force of nature, it took a freakin CAR CRASH to stop her. Compared to the original animated Cruella, every other version is a pathetic pushover.
I LUV how Disney is making movies and telling the bad guy's side 🤘❤🤘
They finally understand that the villains are more interesting
@@secre.e6870 Damn straight!! 😜🤙😜
I have very mixed feelings about the film. There were some aspects I adored and some that would not make any sense leading to the other two movies (1961 and 1996). I'd rather not explain them here cus the list would be WAY long, but about the good things: I loved the acting of the two Emmas and the fashion.
Emma Stone fits this role, period
well, i think you guys would know much more to this story if you read 'evil thing' a book about her
I just watched the full movie yesterday it was amazing and Emma Stone did a great job
good villain. she is as great as the 1996 version. she perfectly nailed the acting.
It’s weird because I have a dog named Buddy and he’s been with me for my entire life o-o
Actually Disney movies have changed so much from the 1800 and 1900 cause things very different from back then. Cause back then drugs and alcohol weren't prohibited Disney Movies could so they could get away with it but now things have changed
Cruelly literally gets drunk and smokes in this movie
@@wyattmcgee1 she didnt smoke in this movie lol
One way you can think of the lack of cigarette in the 2021 movie is that she just hadn’t gotten into it yet
that’s really smart!!!
Nope, Disney has been banned from showing cigarettes in these films since 2007
Anne hathaway could also nail this role but she has witches already
She could, but she'd have to conjure the quirkiness that Stone brings. Stone has to reach a little for the "classic" elegance Anne has, but that's exactly right for Cruella. ❤️🖤🤍
I thought this was a prequel to the 1996 movie and sequel but Anita shows this is an alternate reality. Wait for 101 in 2040 set in the year 2000.
It's sad that Cruella from Once Upon a Time wasn't included in this.
the 2021 was sooooooo gooodddddd
