Mercedes S550 W221 Resonators Deleted with S63 Muffler Exhaust

- 2012 Bi-Turbo exhaust sound - I got lucky with the AMG muffler because the owner at EAG Performance had recently removed them from his 2009 S63 and had them laying around so he sold them to me for a good price. I got the resonators deleted from Hi-Flo Custom's in Manassas, VA.

Your little man likes that cross plane V8 sound. You’re raising him well. And stunning S Class, sir.
👍💪
Haha, he’s 5 and half now and still loves it! Thank you sir!
I’ve never heard a m278 sound this good I need to do this to my 2015 s550!!!!
Thanks bro! I was blown away with the results too. I can’t believe just swapping the muffler alone made such a huge difference. I can’t even imagine modifying the down pipes lol
Dude, fantastic video! Thank you so much! Your editing and comparisons are superb!
Thanks man, I appreciate it! ✊🏽
thats wat im talking about planing on getting me a 2015 Cls550 and getting the s63 mufflers on it this year coming up
@@randomchet3629 Best of luck man! Those are greats cars as well.
Sounds amazing! I have the 5.5 NA engine in mine.
Thank you! I was happy with the sound 😎
Awesome video brodi, what do you think which has closer to AMG sound with res or without. and i dont mean the loud straight pipe tractor sound. thanks in advance
Thanks man! I would say it sounds deeper and more aggressive without the resonators. The car is sound proofed so well that there is no drone or annoying exhaust noise leaking into the cabin. Swapping just the stock mufflers to a s63 AMG mufflers were world of a difference. Removing the res was just cherry on top.
@@mrkngkhan thanks for your quick response i appreciate that. Do you still have stock cats on? I have cls 550 with same m278 engine was thinking to swap stock muffler to amg one and to get downpipes installed also with sport 100-200 cel cats or without, leaving resonator probably not sure yet, wanna hear what you think based on your experience.
@@KA-nu1tp I still have my stock cats on and it was just enough for what I was looking for. If you want even a louder sounding exhaust, then yah, you can always get downpipes. I didn’t want my exhaust sounding obnoxious because it’s still an S class and I wanted to keep it classy while being sporty lol. I also got it tuned and that made a huge difference in performance if that’s what you’re after. Take it by baby steps, first swap the mufflers, see how you like it. If you still don’t like it, then try deleting res, and if still not then go with downpipes. I would recommend tuning even with stock setup. It’ll make a huge difference in sports mode.
@@mrkngkhan Did you buy a tuner or had it manually tuned? Sport mode only?
@@Kamil353535 Bought a tuner from OE Tuning. I can tell it’s tuned in E mode but S mode it’s a beasttt
Nice spec.
Still one of the most beautiful sedans ever made.

Thanks homie!
Hey sounds good where did you get the mufflers from and how much did they cost?
Hey man! Check the video description, I listed it there. Got lucky with the owner at a shop had them laying around.
Hey boss, hope you’re well. QQ, was the rear diffuser just a plug and play? As in did you get an s63 diffuser and it clipped perfectly onto your bumper?
I purchased the S63 rear bumper that came with the diffuser. Yes, the diffuser was plug and play with the S63 bumper.
I need some 63 exhaust on mine I’m still gonna keep the resonators tho
Yeah, it makes a huge difference!
bro, are the back lights shaking or vibrating or is it the phone's camera that gives it flashing lights??
LEDs usually look like they are flickering on video. They do not flash/flicker off camera.
Hey man. I have a 13’ 550. I’m looking forward to doing a resonator delete and maybe putting in an X pipe. Do you know how many resonators the car has and the size? Thank you. Sounds beautiful by the way.
I removed the two rear ones. The resonators itself is about 17" and the piping for them was 2.5" on both sides where it was cut.
I'm curious to know how the x-pipe will sound. Keep me posted!
Hey man, did you just add the s63 tips or the whole muffler?
The whole muffler was swapped to a S63 one
Hi, brother I had a question please did u have some trouble with fitting that S63 2009 muffler with S500 2013 stock exhaust, also there is check engine light in the dashboard?
Hey, no.. there were no issues with fitment and I never received a check engine line.
@@mrkngkhan did you keep the x pipe or its straight pipe going from main cats to the s63 muffler box? i just did mine i removed primary res added h pipe and removed resonated x pipe and deleted the box sound is a bit off i wanna do like urs sounds nice just need to know if you have x pipe or no
@@vahanamy1819 No, the facelift version didn’t have an X Pipe. It was an H Pipe from factory. So the H pipe is still on my car but I just removed the resonators and have an S63 muffler. Nothing super fancy
Do you have the na 5.5 or the biturbo later year s class
I have the 4.7L bi-turbo (M278)
That bumper made a super difference. Where did you get the s63 muffler exhaust?
Yeah man, made a huge difference! There was a local shop where the owner took them off his S63 and had them laying around. Gave me a really good deal for them
@@mrkngkhan what shop I live in the dmv and have a 63 looking for a good shop to get some work done and figure out some upgrades it’s pretty hard with this car
@@KevinSmith-qd8sm What are you trying to get done?
@@mrkngkhan right now I’m stock. So I’m really looking for that first step mod outside of a tune and down pipe. But it seems like those are the only real options. I’ve seen people doing airbox spacers. I’m trying to find options on what can be done I guess.
@@KevinSmith-qd8sm there might not be much options other than those but I took it to EAG Performance in Fredericksburg. Hit me up oskhan89@hotmail and I can hook you up with the guy I know
👊
and did you wrap the side molding black for what?
Sorry, I don’t understand your question
the long black piece under the door handle what did you do? wrap them?
@@lukasplatauna oh yeah, that’s vinyl wrapped in matte black
hey what did you do with the taillights i like the look
Thanks bro! I got them painted a transparent dark candy red color. I told him to just do the outline of the lights so that it doesn’t cover my lights at all.
An M278 S class Mercedes SHOULD NOT sound like that…!
Hahah, you don’t like it?
@@mrkngkhanIt’s not a question of “Not Liking it!” It’s about a Mercedes S-Class M278 W221 einginge howling like that! I know it’s cool for the “youngers, gearheads” for engines to fire out & growl, but that’s not how it was intended to sound new or used!
@@jduwayne1 I agree it’s not for everyone but I wanted it to sound sporty while still maintaining luxury. To each their own
@@jduwayne1womp womp 😂
@@chalfrmthaeast ???
Can you sell me muffler if you ever sell car
Sorry man, probably not. But you can probably find a used one from eBay or salvaged cars
Do you think it will sound good on 5.5 engine2010 s550
Yes, of course! The stock mufflers are very restricted compared to the AMG mufflers. Any aftermarket muffler will open up the sound abit and make it sound aggressive. The V8’s need to purr
