So awesome you guys! I was dying to meet the king when I was there, but no luck for me. I would have reacted just like Deb! : ) Bhutan is such a special little gem in this world, thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Gareth. It was pretty awesome to meet him. He's such a cool dude. Very modern and stylish. And yes, Bhutan is definitely a special little gem. It took us awhile to get there, but it's one of those places that you just have to go to once in your life!
Gareth Leonard next time if you go bhutan again pick a tour that you be part of Paro, Thimphu annual TShechu cos HM ll either come on first day or last day of the celebration. Not so big crowds, may be you would get to speak to him if ur lucky enough, normally he speaks to the people.
Thank you so much for visiting my country. While I am in the States now, you just brought my home closer to me. By the way, your camera tripod carrying man is my school mate.
This festival is at the most remotest area of bhutan there also have different culture and its very hard to travel there as its at the himalaya and the festival is special as kings visit it
Heyyyy past me, you went to Bhutan for 15 days! You were fortunate to speak to HM the King twice (and his second cousin)! You hiked to Laya! You were blessed by many Lhakhangs and Dzongs and festivals! You went to your favorite country, your favorite culture and people, your decade long dream came true! So grateful, missing how perfect everything was, so majestic and serene beauty!

Hey Sonam, That is amazing that he was your school mate. He wasn't carrying our tripod though, (that was for another lazy man in our party. haha) but he was walking with us. And what a wonderful guy. Was his name Rensin?
