Peter Cullen is one of those celebrities that I've tried to mentally prepare myself for when the day comes he's no longer on this Earth. I know that he's not immortal, but the impact he will leave behind is eternal.
I wholeheartedly agree. Time touches everyone and everything. A day may come for voice actors or actresses we love pass on. However, it does not mean we don't love them and their work they made for our lives. They will remain in our memories and in our hearts until the end of our days. Still, I am faithful that Peter and Garry recover. ❤

1:55 imagine you get out of a bathroom stall wearing a megatron jacket and MEGATRON HIMSELF walks out of the stall next to yours and says "nice jacket"
so have I, I’ve been kinda worried since last year, in Rise of the beasts Peter was still killing it of course, but it was the first time I really heard Peter Cullen in his age, Optimus was sounded like a grumpy grandpa (which I liked it, made prime seen older and wartorn) but yeah ever since that movie I’ve just thought about peters age
Man. Here's to a speedy recovery to them both. Peter was my voice acting hero, one of my biggest reasons for getting into the craft actually. Yet through some miracle, I learned about his older brother Larry when I was a kid. Long story short, my mother couldn't get a baby sitter for me so she took me to work (she was a nurse) and it must have been ANZAC Day or something (Australia's Vetaren's Day), and I just remember a bunch of soldiers talking about a Captain Cullen, a guy who got two purple hearts and a bronze star, which meant nothing to a five/six year old. One thing I remember which I took to heart: They cited him as the man who never murdered. Years later, I learned he was not only Peter's older brother, but was Peter's inspiration for Optimus. I also learned he served in Vietnam... Learning that context, being called the man who never murdered by other soldiers is a BRAGGING RIGHT! Vietnam was a vicious war. I told Peter Cullen my story of how his work as Optimus got me both out of hard times and in to voice acting-hell it was me trying to knock off his Optimus Voice that got me my first paid gig. He heard it, approved... Then got a good laugh when I told him the director wanted an Irish version of that. Then I told him about when I heard of his brother from other soldiers who served with him. He looked... So grateful to hear that. I thanked him for inspiring me to follow my passion, and gave the best salute I could offer to his late brother. He then thanked me, and told me I had the right stuff to be a voice actor and that I should keep going until I get there, then go further from there. I was so star struck. I was so AWE struck. It took all of my strength not to break down in tears of joy that day. I'm not ready for him to leave. I want to spend a little time in the studio with him at least once. Garry Chalk is a man I always wanted to meet, he seems like such a cool and interesting guy. Here's to them recovering swiftly for sure!
WOW, it's like you know more about Peter's family than the vast majority of his fans ever have. Must have been like a dream to have met/talk with him like that. At that moment, he wasn't just the guy known for voicing Optimus Prime and other characters... it was a more of a human interaction, and I'm actually a little jealous that you experienced that, but I'm glad you did. - How a Canadian soldier became that well known to ones from Australia is probably something of a legend. But being able to retain your humanity during war can be a wonderful blessing, even if war can leave its mark on your soul. --- In any case, I hope that wasn't your last chance to talk with Peter, and us fans have years of geeking out to look forward to when it comes to both of these gentlemen. Best wishes to you and I hope we get Christmas miracles for both Peter and Gary. - Good health and long lives to them both!
@@noobmastershake1427 That's good to know if true, I'll take your word for it. I was so lucky that in England both and he and Frank made their very first con appearances in 2020. They both came off as very professional and genuinely nice guys. Made me love them all the more :)
The day that Peter Cullen dies will be one of the most infamous celebrity deaths ever, so many great actors seem to be leaving us, 😭😭😭 RIP Tony Todd and Carl Weathers
Thank you, RP. Much love to you. Garry had his first treatment today, so at least it’s being addressed the best way that it can. Hoping for the best and a full recovery for our munky. I hope Peter is also doing well. I see he’s in the guest line up for the Vancouver Fan Expo in February, so hopefully that’s a good sign. -Candice
Peter Cullen if he ever passed away, which I know he will someday… which I’ll never be ready for. It’s gonna be a passing that’s gonna hit a helluva lot harder then the many times his character of optimism prime as died on screen… it’s gonna hurt like hell. If not worst.
That was a funny bathroom story, I hope Peter Cullen and Gary Chalk will be ok and get well soon, it was sweet of you all to send a get well message, I'll pray that they both make speedy recoveries and that everything will be ok, God bless and Till all are one, Merry Christmas everyone.🪽🕊️🚗✈️♥️⭐🎁☃️❄️🎀🎄🌹👑
I got the opportunity to meet all three of them over the years. Gary Chalk was the botcon for 23 when I met you standing on the line for the custom figure panel. Not all news is sunshine and rainbows. Someone has to deliver it. I'm glad it was from you. Thank you RP for all that you do for the fandom.
Both my child hood primes, along with David Kaye, I grew up with all three and they have all my respect for their representations of the character I truly hope Peter and Gary come back stronger than ever!
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Peter Cullen not once, not twice, but three times in my life, and all three moments are times that I treasure in my heart. Garry Chalk was my first Optimus Prime (as Transformers: Cybertron was the first TF series I got into after accidentally discovering it on TV one day after school), and I was lucky enough to get a Cameo from him (one that’s 9 minutes long, too!) literal days before he announced he stopped doing Cameos due to health concerns. I’ll be praying for both of these wonderful, talented men during this holiday. I wish them both good health, and I’ll keep them close to my heart. ❤🙏🕊️
Thank You for sharing this RodimusPrimal...I have met Peter a handful of times and he is my Hero. Grew up in the 80s and watching Peter as Optimus Prime, after school literally saved my life from Street and Thug life. Wishing Peter well and best of Health. Long Live Optimus Prime....
Guys, Peter Cullen is going to Fan Expo Vancouver in February. Bro did SOO many conventions in 2024 for the 40th Anniversary. More than Frank. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been terribly drained and tired from all the travel. I wish the speediest recovery for Gary Chalk tho. Heartbroken about that
When you said we hadn't heard anything about Peter until and then paused I started to panic. I was literally saying out loud "no, no no no..." I was so scared for what you were about to say next. I can't describe the relief I felt. I truly hope they both make speedy recoveries. Till All Are One
My Dad beat Hodgkins. From what I understand if you have cancerous lymphoma, Hodgkins is the version you want to get as it's the easiest to beat. Well wishes and prayers to Garry.
I saw Steve Blum once in a restroom in Collect-A-Con Houston, but I never spoke to him until I made it to his booth. I am glad that I met him. As for Cullen & Chalk, I hope nothing but the best for them. I really want to see them, someday.
Both men voiced great leaders In their respective Optimus. I truly hope for the best in the recovery and get well soon to both Peter Cullen and Garry Chalk.
The Silly Bastard that started the "Peter" chant in Baltimore 2024 was me, as well as Frank , I wanted to build the extra energy those awesome gentlemen deserved. You are absolutely right about Frank being an above and beyond kind of guy, a true honor meeting him, as well as all of you, hopefully we'll all meet up again in the future. May you and your family have a wonderful Merry Christmas 🎄 and a Happy New Year🎉.
I met Gary at Wonder Con in Torrance CA many moons ago , and have met both Peter and Frank at TF Con in Burbank .. those guys are rock stars .. hands down its going to be a sad day on Seibertron when those cats leave us ..
Oh no! Not our primes! I do pray things get better for both of them because they brought so much joy! Whether we love Autobots or decepticons, we know how much they mean to us!💪❤️
I never got to meet Peter Cullen, but I did see him at a panel in 2023. It was great. I hope he's fine. As for Garry, I really hope he lives. He may not be young, but he is younger.
Honestly, I don't think I'll be ready to hear the day if Peter Cullen ever leaves this world. I couldn't handle the passings of Kevin Conroy, Jason David Frank and Tony Todd, especially when they died way too soon.
Mr Cullen & Mr. Chalk have given us so much joy, obviously the voices of so many of our childhoods [and teenaged years!], so praying for the Lord's will to be done, that it is full healing for both of them, not to mention peace for their family and loved ones at this time.
I ran into Richard Newman in an elevator at a Botcon way back when. Very distinguished and surprisingly short-statured gentleman, with a voice MUCH bigger than his physical person.😂 Anyway, such a sweet and nice guy. Very pleasant interaction.❤
I wish he is okay. If anything happens to him I would in deep depression. I have enough pain this past 2 days man… my dog passed away on the night of Christmas Eve and I just devastated, it was the worst Christmas I ever had in my entire life. He died from a Kidney Failure, I’ve done my very best to treated him but I guess it wasn’t enough. I just feel very empty on the insides right now.
@tsuaririndoku the good news is that Garry Chalk's condition is treatable. I believe that Peter Cullen will be okay. I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope you can make the rest of your Christmas better if possible.
I heard about Optimus Primal (Garry Chalk), but now I find out about Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) himself… I am just saddened… I hope the both of them are doing okay… Garry Chalk was also Optimus Prime from the Unicron Trilogy, and I mainly know him as Optimus Prime from Cybertron. This is just saddening… These two people will be in my thoughts and prayers. 🙏
I hope they’re both doing OK. On a side note, I was at BotCon in 2022 and got to meet both Frank Welker and David Kaye at the same convention, it was an amazing experience!
Prayers for healing and speedy recovery. I have been kicking myself for the last 4 years for not seeing Cullen and Welker when they were both in my city. But I was kind of scared to go because it was the weekend before everything shut down and I wasn't sure if the virus was floating around the convention. Then Cullen came back early this year same convention... but this time I couldn't make it, even though it was just downtown. Then I got excited when he was announced for TFCon Baltimore and saddened when he canceled. This time I couldn't make it to Baltimore at least to see you guys and Welker. I couldn't afford it this time. I hope with whatever is happening with Mr. Cullen, he destroys it like Bayverse Optimus. Same with Garry Chalk. He was wonderful to speak to when I saw him at the 2021 Baltimore TfCon... TMan978 captured the moment my friends and I were talking to him while filming the room. I pray the treatments go well.
Peter is without a doubt, the best Optimus, no argument about it. However, Gary is easily a close second. I’m so miffed that they didn’t even ask Gary to be part of Rise of the Beasts, Peter and Gary together would’ve been amazing! Maybe it’ll happen someday….
I only met Peter Cullen once at the Adelaide Avcon many years ago, probably 2012 or 2013, he signed a picture for me. I was really nervous about meeting him, but he was really sweet and nice. He took my hand and said its okay to be nervous and he did a quote for me in his Optimus Prime voice and I got a hug from him. I hope he's okay.
Man, thank you thank you thank you. You give us a great name with your concern and compassion. God Bless you, Rod Primal. We don't live forever. Our focus should be on Him and caring for each other. That's all He asks us to do. Love is that simple. Service and prayer... so many just can't see that. (Uh... no pun intended!) 😆 Merry Christmas!
The thought of Optimus prime dying and never coming back literally has me in tears. I NEVER get emotional over celebrities, and here I am crying like a baby over the thought of something happening to Peter Cullen. And on top of that, Primal too!? May the Lord bless and keep them safe and bring them healing and comfort. In Jesus' blessed name we pray. Amen.
On Primus i am praying that both are ok and i know it may sound selfish but i want him to live at least a few more years just so i can at least say hi or at least see him from a far. I know he's in his 80s but i dread the day will come we will no longer he or Garry chalk will no longer be with us. I played the death of Optimus prime last week and i keep thinking his and seeing each comment and that mentally messes me up because i dont want this to happen. Even though we know the time will come no one will be prepared the day it hits
Fun fact, Frank Welker and David Kaye starred together as Dynomutt and Blue Falcon which is ironic on Scooby Doo and Guess Who? Now I really want WB to do a Dynomutt and Blue Falcon reboot series with both Frank and David together.
Suprising, my grandmother on my mom's side had a Hodgkin lymphoma aswel, she actually didn't die from it but she died from pneumonia from the weakening of the lymphoma...
I saw Peter Cullen at Soda City Comic Con 2024 at the end of August! I consider myself a bit lucky since it was not too long after that these cancellations happened. I got to participate in the private event they did for those who got upgraded tickets, sort of a meet and greet along with autographs and personal voice recordings. While waiting in line, Cullen walked by and said hello to everyone and the staff announced that things would be done slightly differently due to Cullen being unable to stand for long periods of time. Didn't seem like much in the moment and made sense given his age, but after hearing about the cancellations in kinda makes me wonder. I hope that if anything is going on that he gets better soon! Same for Garry Chalk, I haven't met him but I've heard nothing but good things and he was my childhood Optimus Prime.

Whether we love Autobots or decepticons, we know how much they mean to us!💪❤️
I hope both Gary and Peter are doing good and will continue to do good in the future
Garry definitely needs prayer, and so does Peter Cullen🙏🏻, and merry Christmas to you and yours RodimusPrimal🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻.
Man I wish the best for Peter and Gary. These guys have been inspirations for me.
I never got to meet Peter Cullen, but I did see him at a panel in 2023. It was great. I hope he's fine. As for Garry, I really hope he lives. He may not be young, but he is younger.
I wish Garry a speedy recovery, and hope Peter is ok
Thanks for updates on both amazing actors. Best wishes to both Peter Cullen and Gary Chalk as well as their families.
I pray to God Peter and Gary will get well soon two voiced an era of optimus to my childhood and life
Both Optimus’s battling this time of year :/ sending them well wishes
I pray he gets well. I never met Peter Cullen and I'm hoping that one day I can meet him 🙏
Honestly, I don't think I'll be ready to hear the day if Peter Cullen ever leaves this world.
Yeah .. its a scary thing to think about... We dunno how much longer we have with these important people ... I wish them the best
Throwing a prayer out to both of them that God will heal them theyve been part of our family for decades. Merry Christmas to you and your family also.
Been praying for both of these guys. I pray there blessed with good health
Thank you for the update, "RodimusPrimal" or fellow brother-in-Christ.
Collective thoughts and prayers... 🙏
'Til all are one and let His will be done.
We, as a community, pray for Peter Cullen's good health and well-being. 🙏
We will never have the chance to have a movie with both of them voicing their respective Optimus. I'm hoping they'll both recover.
Welker had a blast getting us to chant like that.
Wow I'm hoping that both of these gentlemen pull through. They have been so kind to and appreciative of their fans over the years.
Praying for Peter and Gary's speedy recovery 🙏
Aww, this is so sad to hear. I hope they both recover and do well, we’re not ready to see them go…not yet.
Rest well both OPs, get well soon! 💙🫶🏻
I ran into Richard Newman in an elevator at a Botcon way back when. Very distinguished and surprisingly short-statured gentleman, with a voice MUCH bigger than his physical person.😂 Anyway, such a sweet and nice guy. Very pleasant interaction.❤
Love Richard. He is the nicest person, and very generous.
Losing the original voice of Optimus will be horrible. Nobody has, or will, do it better. Wishing Peter all the luck
Wish both legends only the best and love ❤. They are heros to many and we can only hope they will be okay
I'm so sorry... I hope your dog is watching over you.
@@cathleenmoyle1476 Thank you for you all support. I really appreciate it.
I heard about Optimus Primal (Garry Chalk), but now I find out about Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) himself… I am just saddened… I hope the both of them are doing okay…
Garry Chalk was also Optimus Prime from the Unicron Trilogy, and I mainly know him as Optimus Prime from Cybertron. This is just saddening…
These two people will be in my thoughts and prayers.
May both Peter Cullen and Gary Chalk have a speedy recovery
Buddhusaranai 🙏
Man, thank you thank you thank you. You give us a great name with your concern and compassion. God Bless you, Rod Primal.
We don't live forever. Our focus should be on Him and caring for each other. That's all He asks us to do. Love is that simple. Service and prayer... so many just can't see that. (Uh... no pun intended!) 😆
Merry Christmas!
I really hope and pray that they both are well and ok. I know they’re getting up there in age… but I’m not ready to say goodbye yet.
Peter cancled a comic con here last month so hope hes okay
I hope both Peter Cullen and Gary Chalk are doing okay, and I wish them both the best.
I am praying Peter Cullen gets better, i really want to see him meet Scott McNeil
I wish the 2 the best hopefully we don’t lose them we just have to wait and see
The thought of Optimus prime dying and never coming back literally has me in tears. I NEVER get emotional over celebrities, and here I am crying like a baby over the thought of something happening to Peter Cullen. And on top of that, Primal too!?
May the Lord bless and keep them safe and bring them healing and comfort. In Jesus' blessed name we pray. Amen.
megatron makes his own rules
God Bless Gary Chalk! I grew up being very inspired by Beast Wars, and Optimus Primal is the very best of leaders!
I’ll be praying for them. Sorry to hear of health struggles for the two of them. Blessings to you all for your Christmas!
I really joined the Transformers Fandom on the 40th anniversary. I know mortality is a thing we can't avoid, so I'm trying to prepare.
Suprising, my grandmother on my mom's side had a Hodgkin lymphoma aswel, she actually didn't die from it but she died from pneumonia from the weakening of the lymphoma...
I hope Peter and Garry will pull through. I would hate to lose more legends.
Same for Garry Chalk, I haven't met him but I've heard nothing but good things and he was my childhood Optimus Prime.
hopefully we see neil, gary, and Peter someday, aswell as Frank, daniel, and david
