As far as villainous plans go, it’s quite unique. Rez isn’t looking for world domination or to destroy anything. He doesn’t even hold the media dimension for ransom, his goal is just to make television virtually unwatchable.
@MattSipka If they ever attempt to make a new gex sense we have phones, streaming sites, websites and a whole bunch of things involving seeing media. There you go Rez has a new goal to target those places and control the media dimension.
Mystical Ninja, Custom Robo, Banjo Kazooie, Earthworm Jim, Donkey Kong Country, Nights, Bomberman 64, Snow Board Kids, Jumping Flash, just to name a few others. Shame most the games mentioned in this section lived and died in that era.
Agreed 103948676758399108576%, Gex: Enter the Gecko was my first experience with the entire franchise, I got HOOKED! Gex 1 and 3 didn't really feel all that great, Gex 2/Enter the Gecko is where the series peaked! Gex 3 is decent, Gex 1 was more frustrating than fun imo.
2:03 you know shit gets real when his laugh grows deeper and he grows in size. I always used to get goose bumps every time that would happen. Back then I used to struggle with trying to find where the next switch would be for him to whack. Quite easy now that o know how the game works.
I think Gex could make a pretty great comeback in this era, given how current movies and TV are ripe for parody. Get the right devs on it to keep the level design tight and it could be great. Rez was destroyed at the end of the third game, but maybe his soul has been restored because of how many bad TV shows and movies there have been since his death. What would be neat is a fight where Rez is empowered by and actually fights with elements of the horrible television and movies he desires to fill the Media Dimension with. Imagine him fighting Gex with giant sharks, earthquakes, lame superheroes, the list just goes on and on. Or maybe that's not all in the final fight with him but those would make great ideas for content Rez could stock his channels with this time.
@marcelo michel I'm aspiring to be a game creator, though I'm currently working on my first project so without the experience, I doubt square would let me take a crack at making a new gex game
@@ImagineThatStudiosYT lets get together and remake just this boss fight. we can message that dude that made a metal cover of this for his audio. Fan project, as I see a remake IS on the horizon
This song left quite the impression on me, back in the day. Rez was just simply pure, condensed evil, but "he" gave it a certain flair. GlaDOS who?? no, we had Rez, back in the day.
Yeah I remember on how badass Rez was when I fought him, and scared a little. I just wish bosses from all these games of this generation can be a lot more inspiring and badass like Rez was way back in the day. I mean you never hear final boss themes that actually sound like you're in for an epic throw-down! You rarely come across any game of any sort that has that one thing that makes the final boss so memorable, its theme. My mind in just bursting with nostalgia right now hearing this!
It's only fitting because for the time Rez must of looked terrifying for a platformer antagonist, and an aspect that shines about this song is that it's so haunting so it really fits
I was able to get into touch with one of the dudes who composed for Crystal Dynamics last year and he gave me big insights into how things work, as well as some pre-console mixes and unused stuff for Pandemonium 2, but I'd love to see if we could get a hold of the trio of composers that did Gex 2. If I'm not mistaken, the lead of the Information Society did this one?! Like, the Hell?! At any rate, for some reason all the Rez or Rezopolis tracks are just grade A industrial bangers that I've yearned for years to hear in full quality. Anyone got a lead on any of thems' social media presence or something?
There are versions of these tracks from the PC version on UA-cam, they sound uncompressed to me and mixed slightly differently. Should be able to find them by searching
Gex was an awesome game series while it lasted. It's weakness was this however... It had the game play that would be suitable for younger gamers, with the jokes and such that would be better suited for adults who knew what Gex was referencing. Rez = literally perhaps video gamings most bad ass villain that never met its true potential. By the third Gex game unfortunately, the series went really downhill, and I guess it just never got the interest for another one. Great game series nonetheless
The one big obstacle in bringing Gex back is the faded relevance of Television. It's still there, but every show and news program is oozing with Leninist overtones. Gex could certainly make fun of that, but that would probably earn the development team a visit from AntiFA.
This game was the best game ever and one of my all time favorites. I loved Gex's one-liners and i thought Rez was just pure badass. I've looked for the songs for so long. thanks for uploading them.
The second Gex was definitely the best for me o.o as for Rez, he was probably the most scary video game villain I'd ever seen. Looked like he was straight out of a nightmare or something.
Gex: Die Streaming Trilogy. Gex has to face a gauntlet of his greatest hits, all new graphics, all 3D, all funny up to the final boss levels that are original. Sell it!
I love this game so much, it's one of my favorites.. and I loved this tune. :) Games like these will never be replaced. ever. I wish they still made them.
If i had to guess, this and Rezopolis must've been the two tracks composed by Kurt Harland for the game, it really shows in his distinct industrial style.

Just so you know, it is for windows 98 so it shouldn't have a problem on vista or 8 or whatever you have. And it does have the psx levels. As for where you can obtain it, try ebay or amazon.
This game was possibly one of my most favorite on the old PS1, and I loved this music, but the fight itself WAS SO DIFFICULT!!! I could never figure out how to make Rez hit the switches on the giant part and not get hurt.
They didn't need to go this hard for a villain whose main goal was just to replace every TV channel with Z-list movies and shows.
As far as villainous plans go, it’s quite unique. Rez isn’t looking for world domination or to destroy anything. He doesn’t even hold the media dimension for ransom, his goal is just to make television virtually unwatchable.
