I remember watching this live on YT while studying for midterms at college. I was 22. Cant believe it's almost 10 years since this match insanely intense match up.
It's funny how majority of the fans praised Lee Yong Dae for his amazing net plays and Fu Hai Feng gets praised for his rocket smashes. But they don't realize that Cai Yun and Jung Jae Sung are the ones that allow them to bring out their potential.
This has got to be one of my favorite MD match ever.

those with limited view will always stare where the spotlight is pointing. JJS has always been a rock solid partner for LYD that allowed him to rise to the legend status that he has. However, it can't be ignored that he has gotten great success with KSH and also notably YYS. So as a player, LYD is definitely the key in the partnership. But it is doubles, so without a partner that can help him highlight his strength... he wouldn't be successful.
Same thing with FHF, he got notorious for having a huge smash. But as the competition goes on, JJS and TBH prove to be just as deadly from the back. Cai Yun has always been the key in that partnership. Still one of the best front player to ever played the game. These 2 pairs have given us so many thrilling final stage matches in the golden era of badminton

Yes, these 2 pairs are so exciting to watch whenever they played. They have fast attacking and great defending skills, unlike most boring (yawn yawn) games nowadays cant even last after a few strokes....
nowadays they focus too much on first 3 or 4 shots, this two pairs playing more typical classic MD.

The top 2 pairs of MD during the golden era. Nowadays the pairs ain't as good, they can't even handle Hendra Setiawan (not to discredit him, he's really brilliant) who was actually the 3rd/4th top pair during that golden era. Setiawan is still owning the current players as of 2019.
I was confused by the last point of the second match . Now I see they were using it as warm up for the deciding third lol
chinese pair just try to let LYD watse his stamina. They must lose 2nd set anyway

Imagine if sukamuljo/gideon lives in this era. I think they are will not survive. There are 4 great MD in this era.. cai/fu, jung/lee, setiawan/kido, koo/tan
kevin and gideo has their own style that different with the 4 pairs you mentioned. I still believe minion still could on the top though not as much now the super series tittle
@@kriswisanka1440 Sanjaya/Gideon couldnt even beat Lee Long Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong, they played them 3 times... and lost all 3 games.. never mind what would have happened to them if they played against Lee Yong Dae/Jung Jae Sung.. Or Cai Y./Fu H. They would just get demolished. This is a different level of badminton.

great performance. i think fu haifeng made many unforced error in this game. But, great performance from both! In London olympics, i hope they can meet again and show the great performance again!
Jung & Lee was the better players on this day. The gelled very well and was very good in all,departments. Nevertheless thx Cai & Fu for a good fight put up. A very good match , wish could have been in stadium. Thx for posting.
