- Animals and children go together. Phoenix Children's Hospital's provides an Animal-Assisted Therapy Program to patients and their families for therapeutic purposes.
Scientific research has shown that a patient's interaction with an animal can provide positive physical and emotional benefits. It can reduce stress levels and invoke a sense of well-being.
Animal-assisted therapy acts as a catalyst to motivate patients to help themselves. A child will happily take a dog for a walk, or throw the animal a ball, forgetting the pain for a little while and moving closer to going home.

They should have this program in every hospital, and people, please, if you have a dog who is extremely friendly, consider making them a therapy dog, it is such a great thing.

What a great program.
I think they should have a programme like that over here in ENGLAND , NOT just for CHILDREN but ADULTS as well although luckily I DONT have to go into hospital often , the last time was 2013 , for 3 months , I have Spina Bifida/ Hydrocephalus plus FYBROMYALGA which started AFTER an opperation for the LATTER
Amazing
just a fabulous program
What a good program, with skilled handlers and very social, clean dogs and medical personnel who know how use it to it's potential. It's not just warm fuzzies, it's animals helping kids get better!
I there one in iowa?
